Race Overview
Are you gonna get gulched?Devil's Gulch is a race that will push the boundaries of what you thought possible. This course is located in the hot, beautiful Ponderosa pine forests of the eastern Cascades. You'll get unending views of the entirety of the Cascades, from the Enchantment Plateau to the iconic Volcanoes. As you leave the high ridgelines, you'll trade views for unique geology with wicked gulches and huge rock hoodoos! The course boasts a little bit of everything, from rocky, steep, technical single track to smooth, flowing trails where you can fly through the forest. The views are hard to beat and will provide some respite from this tough course. While this isn't a course for the faint of heart, the generous cutoffs allow you to run your own race at your own pace. With lots of vert and hot temperatures, the 100 Miler is an extremely challenging event. The 50 Miler is also challenging, just a half portion of crazy. For those who have a more balanced relationship with running, we've got the half-marathon too. The half course gets all the views with only a fraction of the pain. We'll see you back at Mission Ridge after 13.1, 50, or 100 miles for a delicious meal and drinks, thanks to the Mission Ridge Ski and Snowboard Resort.Top 3 in all gender categories will receive prizes. Interested in volunteering? Click here to sign up - you'll get a free or discounted race entry!
Devil's Gulch 100
This tough and gorgeous course will take you on a 100-mile loop up to the summit of Mission Peak and Mt. Lillian. You'll then run along Tronsen Ridge with incredible 360° views before descending to lower elevations in Ponderosa Pine forests. Then it's over to Number 2 Canyon, where you'll switch from technical rocky single track to smooth-flowing trails up to Horse Lake Mountain. Pause at the summit for views or catch the sunset over the famous Enchantment Plateau. You'll rack up over 20,000' of gain in this race, but don't worry: you have 39 hours to get it done. The course follows plenty of single track, plus a bit of forest service road. The views are incredible, and the temperatures should be nice and warm (read: your brain might cook). Check out the website for more details about the race, the course, and the schedule.Finishers will receive a shirt and plenty of food and beverages at the finish line. And, of course, 100-mile runners will also receive a belt buckle to commemorate this accomplishment!
Devil's Gulch 50
Not quiiiiite ready for the full 100? Check out the 50 miler! This beautiful course will take you on a shorter but still challenging 50-mile loop up to the summit of Mission Peak and Mt. Lillian. You'll then run along Tronsen Ridge with incredible 360° views before descending to lower elevations in Ponderosa Pine forests. Here, you'll wave goodbye to your 100-mile friends and start the gentle but long climb up Devil's Gulch and back to the finish line at Mission Ridge. This climb has many creek crossings to cool off in, so make sure to take advantage of those! You'll rack up about 11,000' of gain in this race, and you'll get to see a huge range of ecosystems along the way. The course follows plenty of single track, plus a bit of forest service road. Check out the website for more details about the race, the course, and the schedule.Finishers will receive a shirt, hand-crafted finishers award, and plenty of food and beverages at the finish line.

This race will start Saturday at 8:00am. Half-marathon finishers receive a shirt, same as the 50 and 100 Miler. Details on the website!

SISU 100
100 Miles. Six Trails. Endless Possibilities.SISU 100 PNW is the Pacific Northwest's choose-your-own-adventure ultramarathon.Instead of following one marked course from start to finish, you'll build your own 100-mile route from six unique mountain trails based from Camp Sheppard, just outside Mount Rainier National Park.Every runner completes the same six trails, but the order is entirely up to you. Some runners will knock out the biggest climbs early. Others will save them for daylight and spend the night on shorter routes. Every decision becomes part of your strategy. There is no perfect plan. That's the adventure.
HOW IT WORKS
Your race begins with six unique trail routes ranging from approximately 3 to 19 miles. You must complete each trail once before repeating any of them. After finishing all six trails, you'll have covered approximately 57.5 miles. From there, choose whichever trails you want to repeat until you reach 100 miles. You may repeat a trail, but you cannot complete the same trail more than twice in a row.Reach 100 miles before the cutoff and you'll earn the SISU 100 belt buckle.
THE COURSE
The SISU 100 consists of six marked out-and-back mountain trails based from Camp Sheppard.Trail distances range from approximately 3 to 19 miles and include everything from runnable forest roads to steep mountain climbs, waterfalls, ridgelines, and sweeping alpine views. There is no assigned order. You decide where you go, when you go there, and how you build your race.Every route returns to basecamp, making every decision part of your strategy.
RACE STRATEGY
Every runner arrives with a different plan. Some attack the biggest climbs while their legs are fresh. Others spread the elevation across the weekend. Some chase efficiency, while others simply run the trails they enjoy most.Unlike the SISU 24, the trails never change in value. The way you combine them is entirely up to you.
BASECAMP
Camp Sheppard is your home for the weekend.Unlike many 100-mile races, you'll return to basecamp throughout the event. Your tent, food, crew, extra gear, showers, flushing toilets, and medical support are all waiting for you between efforts.Whether you're grabbing fresh socks, eating a hot meal, or catching a few minutes of sleep, basecamp becomes part of your race strategy.
SELF-SUPPORTED
SISU 100 is a self-supported ultramarathon.Runners are responsible for bringing the food, nutrition, hydration, and gear they'll need throughout the weekend. We'll have water, electrolytes, snacks, and a selection of common aid station items available at HQ, but you should plan to be self-sufficient once you leave camp. There are no aid stations on the trails.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
“I discovered SISU 100 PNW in 2023, and it quickly became my favorite race. It changed my life by giving me a purpose to train for throughout the year. The breathtaking scenery, challenging terrain, and freedom to create your own route make it a truly unique experience. What truly sets Sisu apart, however, is its incredible sense of community. Returning to basecamp after each loop for encouragement, refreshments, and camaraderie makes the event even more special. It creates opportunities to connect with fellow runners, volunteers, and crew members throughout the race, fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.SISU 100 PNW is more than just a race—it’s a community, an adventure, and a place where you truly feel like you belong. I look forward to coming back year after year.” — Elke Albright

SISU 24 PNW
24 Hours. Endless Possibilities.SISU 24 PNW hands you six trails, a weekend in the mountains, and says, "Go make your own adventure."Most ultramarathons hand you a course map and tell you where to run.Based from Camp Sheppard, just outside Mount Rainier National Park, SISU 24 PNW is a 24-hour choose-your-own-adventure trail event where every participant creates a different experience. Some runners chase points. Some chase miles. Some spend the weekend exploring waterfalls, tackling side quests, and swapping stories around camp between runs. There is no single path to a great weekend. Whether you're chasing the podium or simply looking for an unforgettable adventure with an incredible community, you'll find your own version of success here.
HOW IT WORKS
Your base camp is exactly that, your home for the weekend.Arrive Friday, set up camp, meet fellow runners, and settle in before the adventure begins Saturday morning. Throughout the event you'll head out from camp, choose whichever trail you want to tackle next, complete your adventure, then return to HQ before deciding what comes next.Run the same trail twice if you loved it.Save the biggest climb for sunrise.Take a break, eat a meal, complete a side quest, then head back out.Every decision is yours.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
SISU 24 PNW isn't about covering a certain distance. It's about choosing your own adventure.Whether you're looking to complete your first trail ultra, spend a weekend exploring beautiful trails with friends, compete for the overall podium, or simply see what you're capable of over 24 hours, there's a place for you here. Some participants run all day. Some take long breaks between adventures. Some carefully plan every point they hope to earn.Others chase waterfalls, complete side quests, and enjoy the journey. If you've ever wished an ultramarathon felt a little less serious and a lot more fun, you'll probably feel right at home.
SIX TRAILS. ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.
Choose from six fully marked out-and-back trails ranging from approximately 3 to 19 miles. Every trail offers something different, from quiet forest paths and rushing waterfalls to long climbs with rewarding views. Some runners spend the weekend trying to complete all six trails.Others return to their favorites again and again.Because everyone chooses their own route and pace, no two race weekends ever look the same.
SIDE QUESTS
Running is only part of the adventure.Throughout the weekend you'll discover optional side quests that reward curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and problem solving. You might find yourself carrying an egg through the woods, solving a puzzle, identifying native plants, tying knots, helping with a community project, or discovering something entirely unexpected. They're optional. They're a little ridiculous. They're one of the things people remember most.
RACE STRATEGY
Every trail is worth points, but those points change as the event unfolds. Finish a trail early and you'll earn more than someone who completes it later, creating dozens of different ways to approach the weekend.Do you sprint for the highest-value routes before everyone else?Do you focus on covering as many miles as possible?Do you hunt down every side quest? There isn't a perfect strategy. That's part of the fun.

Kachess Ridge 50
You won't want to miss this point-to-point adventure in the heart of the Cascades! Starting by Lake Kachess, you'll climb through big forest into alpine meadows. After a steady, long climb, you'll roll along Kachess Ridge with 360-degree views. Chikamin Ridge and Mt. Daniel loom large to the north, the mountains of Snoqualmie Pass to the west, and the Stuart Range to the east. Lake Cle Elum and Lake Kachess rest down in the valleys below. Topping out at the Thorp Mountain Lookout (5853ft), you'll be sad to begin your descent back to the valley below. But don't worry, camping, post-race food, and festivities await you at the finish line at Salmon La Sac. This is a challenging and remote event! You should study the course and be able to carry enough water, snacks, and electrolytes for up to 12 miles between aid stations.
Course Description
Shuttles will take you to the starting line at Kachess Lake. Then you'll begin your climb up the Kachess Ridge Trail. After a grueling start with over 1300ft of climbing, the grade mellows out, but the climbing continues all the way to Hard Cheese Aid Station at ~7.5 miles. Here, the 50k distance continues along the ridge, while the 50M runners get their extra vert and distance in doing a figure 8 loop on winding trails in the French Cabin Creek area. After the extra loop, the 50M and 50k courses rejoin for a climb to the Thorp Mountain Lookout, grab your token, and enjoy the final 5 miles of rolling ridgeline before coming into the No Name Ridge Aid Station. Then you'll begin your steady descent into the Cooper River Drainage. After passing the Cooper Aid Station, you'll head up the valley, running along the shores of Cooper Lake and then the Cooper River. After one more punchy climb, you'll join up with an old forest road and flow back down to Cooper Aid Station, continuing to follow the Cooper River to its confluence with the Cle Elum River. Then it's just a few miles to the finish line!
