    Coventry Elementary PTA presents the 2026 Cougar Dash 5k and 1-mile Fun Run!

    Race Information

    This flat asphalt course could help you achieve a new personal best. Run or walk with friends and family through the beautiful neighborhoods of Coventry and The Greenlands while neighbors cheer you on. Choose the 5K, 1-Mile Fun Run course, or both! All proceeds from this non-profit event will go directly to programs that support our students. This event will promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle by raising awareness and educating about the importance of physical activity.

    Not a runner but want to participate in this fun community activity? Volunteers of all ages and abilities are needed.

    Packet and Race Expo Pickup

    Package Pickup will be Friday April 24, 2026 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Coventry Elementary gymnasium at 200 Owen Davis Blvd, Yorktown, VA.

    Schedule of Race Day Events

    The 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m., and the Cougar Dash 5K starts at 9:00 a.m. Every runner will receive a medal.

    Award Age Groups and Categories for the Cougar Dash 5K

    Top Overall Adult (18+) Female and Male Medals:

    1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Place receive engraved medals.

    Top Three Girls and Boys for the following age groups will receive engraved trophies:

    • Teen (13-17)

    • 11-12

    • 9-10

    • 7-8

    • 6 and under

    Every runner will get a finishing medal.

    *Registrations after April 22nd are not guaranteed a T-shirt.

    **No same day race registrations. The last day to register for either race is Friday April 24th, 2026

    Race events include 5K (competitively timed event), One Mile Fun Run (not a timed event) and Virtual 5K (no awards)

    Cost:

    Registrations available online and in-person on race day. If you'd like to receive a tshirt, you must register by end of day on 4/12/2026. Race Registrations received after 4/12/2026 are not guaranteed an event shirt or requested shirt size. Event shirts are distributed on a first come, first serve basis after 4/12/2026. Virtual 5K online registration is available up to race day.

    This is our 7th annual "Run for Nicaragua" Race! Since 2019 we've been able to raise over $50,000 to build homes for families in several Barrios in Nicaragua. Our goal in 2026 is to raise $20,000 to build homes in the Carlos Fonseca Barrio in Nicaragua. Each home costs $2,700. Can you believe that? A dry, safe home for a family in need for $2,700.     Bring non-perishable food items to support the food bank at Thrive Peninsula when you pick up your race packet or register on Race Day. Raffle tickets for a food drive prize will be given for donated food items. The food drive prize will be drawn after the awards ceremony.     This is a Family Fun Event with lots of great raffle prizes, refreshments and games for anyone in attendance. This year, all participants will receive a medal upon completion of the race! Raffle tickets will be sold for raffle prizes.

    Kingswood Recreation Association is hosting our 10th annual 5K fun run and walk and a 1 mile fun run for kids! The event will be held Saturday June 7, at 8:30 and 8:00 am respectively. All race participants may spend the day at Kingswood Pool after the race. The race proceeds will benefit Kingswood Pool and Recreation Association. The 1 mile fun run begins at 8:00 am and the 5K run/walk begins at 8:30 am. The awards will be held at 9:45 am with 90+ awards. This race is a Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix Event.

    Awards: Awards are given to the top three overall men and women, to the top three in five year ages groups from 14 and under to 70 and over. Awards are also given to the top three men and women in the walk division.

    T-shirts: T-shirts and exact sizes are only guaranteed to entrants who register by Wednesday, May 27, 2026. After May 27, shirts are first come, first served, while supplies last.

    Kingswood Pool 5K Run Course

    Start and finish - pool asphalt driveway at "No Parking" sign, close to the clubhouse. Runners congregate on the wide area of the parking lot.

    Right on Spring Road.

    Left on West Kingswood Drive to very end of road out-and-back, with one cul-de-sac to the right on Regency Court, necessary to make our 3.1-mile distance for the 5K.

    Right on Spring.

    Right on Oak Road to end of road out-and-back.

    Right on Perry (side street) on way back.

    Left on Holly Road.

    Diagonal crossing of Spring to Right on Kingswood Drive.

    Right on Dover Road.

    Left on Oxford Road for one block.

    Left on Kingswood Drive.

    Right on Spring.

    Right into pool entrance. And continue on gravel, then asphalt, driveway to the pool clubhouse and sign. Distance 3.105 miles for 5K.

    One Mile Fun Run

    For the one mile fun run:

    1. Go out the pool sidewalk/pathway to Kingswood Drive, and do the Kingswood Drive/Dover Road/Kingwood Drive loop (a portion of the 5K course), with a brief out-and-back to just before Spring Road, returning by the same concrete sidewalk to the finish. Same start/finish line as 5K.
