NOTE: This race is the first day of daylight savings time.

    Event Schedule

    9:00am: Check-in begins

THERE IS NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION FOR THIS RACE. Please pre-register online by 7 March 2026 by 8:00 p.m.

    10:00am: 12K race

Distance and course: This is an out-and-back course almost completely around Burke Lake. The start/finish is at the northern end of the Burke Lake Park Ice Cream Parlor/Merry-Go-Round parking lot on main roadway ("Start" is painted on road surface). The race proceeds clockwise around lake over mildly rolling terrain. The first half mile is on the paved main roadway. After crossing the small bridge, bear right onto the dirt path, keeping the lake on your right. Continue on dirt path (watch for tree roots and protruding rocks!). Proceed for another three miles to turnaround and then proceed counterclockwise around lake back to the start/finish. The turnaround is past the earthen dam and is approximately 200 yards past the 4.0 mile marker (if you reach the public marina, you've gone too far!).

Here is a map to the park entrance.

Once you are inside the park, make the first left and travel a quarter mile to the mini-golf / Disk Golf / Ice Cream Parlor / Merry Go Round parking lot on your right.

The Bull Run Run is a 50 mile trail run within a linear park that generally parallels the Occoquan River and the famous Bull Run in southern Fairfax County, Virginia. It traverses a forested, rolling terrain during the height of the state's spring beauty. The run’s unique character includes a Civil War theme that honors the battles that occurred here over 150 years ago. A highlight of the race course are the stretches that take the runners through the largest bluebell stands on the East Coast. The 2026 race will be the 32nd running of this classic event.

Many children rely on free and reduced-price meals at school for food. A Power Pack, which contains seven meals, helps to alleviate hunger for local children in need over the weekend when not in school. All of the Power-Packs assembled at the runner's village will be distributed after the race and eaten the next weekend (8-10 May). Last year in the last five years we had over 3,000 people participate in the race, we packed and donated over 187,000 meals and raised $227,491. This year we are trying to raise $60,000, which will allow us to pack and fund over 72,000 meals for hungry children in our county!

The Fountainhead Half Marathon+ and 10K+ courses are absolutely tough and they are absolutely beautiful. Fountainhead Regional Park, in Fairfax County, VA, is only 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C. and has an extremely remote feel for being so close to a major metropolitan area. The half marathon(+) course includes a 6-mile long stretch of the Bull-Run Occoquan Trail (BROT) from Fountainhead to Bull Run Marina as well as three seldom used side trails along the BROT. The 10K(++) course uses a shorter section of the BROT and one of the side trails…yes…it’s the one with the really epic climb!

All race information can be found on the race website: https://ex2adventures.com/trail-running/fountainhead-half-marathon-and-10k-trail-run/

    Charity partnership

During registration, you will have an opportunity to support a local non-profit Homestretch. The goal of the charity partnership is to first and foremost to raise awareness of the services Homestretch provides to families in our area. In addition, we hope to raise funds that will directly support their efforts. Please consider making a donation when you register.

The swim takes place in Waynewood's 25 meter pool. The Waynewood bike course is the least complicated with a one way bike loop repeated the appropriate number of times for each age group. With a few small inclines building up to a nice decent to transition or the start of another loop. The run is fast and flat.
