The River Hills/Lake Wylie Lions Club (RHLW Lions Club) is proud to host the annual Type 1 Diabetes and Childhood Cancer on Saturday, April 25th, 2026.
The net proceeds help support The Lions Club's efforts on behalf of Type I Diabetes and Childhood Cancer Programs.
The event will start and end in beautiful Camp Thunderbird adjacent to the River Hills. It will include a 5K and 10k Runs and a 1-Mile Family Fun Walk.
The 5K and 10k runs and 1-mile family fun walk will be held in the lakeside community of River Hills in Lake Wylie, S.C. Runners will love the challenging course that offers rolling hills, tree lined roads, lake and golf course views. Families will be able to walk a course that offers stroller-friendly sidewalks to make their day enjoyable.
The funds raised by "Run For Life"{ allows the Lions Club to sponsor children with Type I Diabetes to go to Camp Sweet Escape. The camp is designed to help the children understand how to live and thrive with this frightening disease.
River Hills / Lake Wylie Lions Club is one of the largest and most active Lions Clubs in the Carolinas. We support over 30 charities through our Run for Life, Golf Tournament, Community Directory, Christmas Tree Sales, Pancake Breakfast, and the generous donations from our membership.
Our Goal is simple, “We Serve"

Sundown Trail Races consist of a SIX-race series on the trails at ASC Greenway in Fort Mill, SC hosted by the Rock Hill Striders. The Southern summers are long and hot and we all welcome when the sun hits the horizon for a break in the heat. Chase the sun towards the horizon in one or all of these races.
Races will be held on Wednesdays in May, June, July, and August, at 6:30 pm near the Canteen at ASC Greenway (Lake Haigler Entrance).
Register for all SIX races and receive some awesome swag to commemorate the series. This will be a low-capacity event so register early.
With the addition of two events, we are adding to the prizes that will be awarded. Half of the events will have a raffle, where all participants are entered to win. The other half will have awards for finishing in certain places. For the series champions, a points system will be used with awards going to the top male, female, and overall champion at the end of the series. Your FOUR best finishes will be used for scoring. That's right, no more penalties if you have a conflict with a race (or 2)!
The courses will be between three and five miles with combination of single track and gravel road.
All ages and paces are welcome, come run or hike each race and bring the whole family!
After racing, stop by the Gateway Canteen for an ice-cold beverage and something to eat. Food and beverage specials will be available with the Gateway Canteen open until 9:00 pm.
These events will be run rain or shine but in the event of severe weather (lighting, hail, etc.) the start time may be adjusted. In the event of cancellation of a race due to severe weather, the make-up will be the 1st Wednesday of September.

Running a 5K on Memorial Day is more than just another race on the calendar—it’s an opportunity to move with purpose and honor those who have sacrificed for our country. Participating in a 5K that supports Semper Fi & America's Fund connects the simple act of running with a deeper mission of service, remembrance, and community.
Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States. By running a race that benefits Semper Fi & America’s Fund, every step becomes a tribute to those sacrifices.
The race itself will take you through all of Catawba Park and about a mile of Baxter Trail. The trail is single track hard packed dirt path. Waterstation will be at 1.5 mile mark. Professionally timed with awards medals and awards after the race
