WE ARE BACK FOR OUR 8TH RACE AND IT'S GOING TO BE BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER! MORE GIVEAWAYS, MORE RUNNERS, MORE SPONSORS, MORE IMPACT!

    WILL FREDERICK MEMORIAL 5K

    RUN FOR THE KIDS

    APRIL 25, 2026 • 8AM

Welcome to the 8TH Annual Will Frederick Memorial 5K RUN FOR THE KIDS

We're running (and walking) for a purpose and that purpose is the kids and youth in our community! With more than 25 different sponsors and hundreds of walkers and runners, we have raised more than $100,000. From the proceeds of this race, we’ve seen high school football players accept Christ, been able to scholarship students to continue their education, helped fund adoptions that have brought babies home to their forever families, support local sport teams, help provide Christmas to children in the area, and the list goes on.

Walkers/Runners: You're invited to join us at 8AM on April 25, 2026 to run (or walk) the race route! Registration is open now! Register early to guarantee that you receive at 2026 race t-shirt!

Partners/Sponsors: As we prepare for our eighth race, we are reaching out to local businesses that we feel share that heart for community and are asking that they partner with us in the form of sponsorship so that this impact can continue to be possible. Sponsorships are what allow us to do those BIG THINGS like sending kids to Christian camps where they encounter Jesus and pay legal fees for adoptions so that families can be united. We are nothing without our sponsors and we hope that you will consider coming along side us! It's never too late to sponsor the event. If you are interested please email your interest to 5K@golifeway.com. Donations are always appreciated as well OR you can email us for more details on sponsorship!

Now, get your walking/running shoes ready, register as a participant and we'll see you on April 25, 2026 at 8am at Lifeway Church: 114 South Congress Street, York, SC 29745.

*This is RFID chip timed event. A time clock will be provided at the finish line. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place male and female finishers.

WHY WE RUN • WILL’S STORY

At 23 years old, Will Frederick had a lot of life to live. Recently married to Hannah Crews, Will was looking forward to having a family of his own but in the meantime, Will was pouring himself into children and students in the York area. Will unexpectedly passed away in August 2018 following complications from surgery. All proceeds from the Will Frederick Memorial 5K event will be used to continue Will’s legacy of impacting the youth of God's Kingdom.

The River Hills/Lake Wylie Lions Club (RHLW Lions Club) is proud to host the annual Type 1 Diabetes and Childhood Cancer on Saturday, April 25th, 2026.

The net proceeds help support The Lions Club's efforts on behalf of Type I Diabetes and Childhood Cancer Programs.

The event will start and end in beautiful Camp Thunderbird adjacent to the River Hills. It will include a 5K and 10k Runs and a 1-Mile Family Fun Walk.

The 5K and 10k runs and 1-mile family fun walk will be held in the lakeside community of River Hills in Lake Wylie, S.C. Runners will love the challenging course that offers rolling hills, tree lined roads, lake and golf course views. Families will be able to walk a course that offers stroller-friendly sidewalks to make their day enjoyable.

The funds raised by "Run For Life"{ allows the Lions Club to sponsor children with Type I Diabetes to go to Camp Sweet Escape. The camp is designed to help the children understand how to live and thrive with this frightening disease.

River Hills / Lake Wylie Lions Club is one of the largest and most active Lions Clubs in the Carolinas. We support over 30 charities through our Run for Life, Golf Tournament, Community Directory, Christmas Tree Sales, Pancake Breakfast, and the generous donations from our membership.
