Please join us for the 4th annual Plaid Nation 5K, the official kick-off to RBC Heritage week, South Carolina’s annual PGA TOUR golf tournament. The fun continues after the race, come on over to Poseidon for Brunch, Lunch or Dinner and receive 20% off on bill all day!

Plaid Nation is the spirit that makes the RBC Heritage the most unique stop on the PGA TOUR. It’s families and friends coming together year after year to be a part of something big, memorable and fun and now it includes a 5K run.

REGISTRATION:

Registration is online only. Cut-off for registration is Wednesday April 9th at 11:59PM.

There is NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.

RACE COURSE:

The race will begin at the beautiful Lowcountry Celebration Park. This scenic course will then take you through the South Forest Beach neighborhood through hidden paths and back to the park for the Plaid Nation After Party and Festival!

NOTE* this is partially closed course.

Runners are required to follow all pedestrian traffic laws. There will be officers on duty at high traffic intersections to ensure safety for all participants.

SUSTAINABILITY AT THE RBC HERITAGE:

Over the past few years, the RBC Heritage has been working hard to make sure that it is one of the most sustainable tournaments on the PGA TOUR. They are seeking to lighten the overall environmental footprint of the event while taking steps to foster nature, conserve resources, and engage and support the local community.

Palmetto Running Company will be providing waste recycling.

Proceeds will be donated to the Heritage Classic Foundation.

Come run with the kitties in purr-fectly delightful April 25th temperatures at the All About Cat’s – Cats Me If You Can 5k Run/Walk.

The course starts in historic Mitchellville Freedom Park, heads out to beautiful Fish Haul Beach, traverses the peaceful back roads of the islands north end and finishes on the Red Carpet “Cat Walk” near the All About Cats Sanctuary. There you’ll be greeted with human size Pet-Purr-Ratzi who will hand you your finisher reward! Runners and walkers alike are welcome.

There’ll be an after-race party, and you’ll have a chance to meet and greet with real life feline friends and explore the good work that All About Cats does.

Registration is $35 with swag including a stylish t-shirt with the event logo and all who complete the race receive a lanyard with finisher premium.

Awards await the top male and female finishers overall and in each age group. Please note there is no same-day registration.

Virtual option. Runners will receive the t-shirt and finisher premium, with an additional $15 covering shipping and handling. We will mail out the items within 7-10 days after the race, allowing participants to complete the run at their convenience.

Packet Pick Up (t-shirt and race bib) will be held at Palmetto Running Company in the Shelter Cove Town Centre, on April 24th from 4-6PM.

Late pick up is on Saturday at the race from 7:00-7:45AM.

And finally, a 15 minute guided meditation and gong experience that will clear your mind, relax your body, and complete the mindful triathlon.

Please join us as we come together for a fun-filled and challenging experience for your mind, body, and spirit. The Mindful Triathlon is a family friendly (open to all ages and skill levels) event focused on wellness, community, and our beautiful natural environment. The event is not scored and no awards will be distributed - BUT, everyone will get a T-Shirt.

EVENT FORMAT

Mindful Triathlon (events will be held on the beach.)
- Leg 1 - 5K Fun Run/Walk - This is a FUN 5K your way, so don’t sweat it. Run or walk :) Just make it to the finish line.
- Leg 2 - Yoga (45min Beach Yoga Class) - After your run/walk roll out your mat or towel and find your flow Oceanside!
- Leg 3 - Meditation (15min) - Then clear your mind, relax your body, and complete the mindful triathlon with a guided meditation and gong experience gazing out into the ocean.
PARKING

There is ample parking across the street from the race site in the Coligny Beach Parking Lot – located just off of Pope Ave. – there are also parking spaces near the beach.

WHAT TO BRING

Since a Mindful Triathlon is something new and unique - we've offered some suggestions on what to bring to the event:
- Run / Walking Shoes
- Yoga Mat or Towel
- Hydration - Water Bottle or sports drink
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Hat / Visor
HYDRATION?

Please bring your own water bottle to the event. We will have a filling station available for you to load up on hydration - but we will not provide cups.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PLAN

The safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff is our paramount concern - and, this concern shapes our decisions regarding inclement weather. Any decisions regarding the weather will be made the morning the event. We plan on producing a great event and we will be at the race site ready to do so. Should the weather pose any threat to safety - we will postpone the start of the event until the weather clears. If the weather does not cooperate after a reasonable amount of time, we will make the decision to cancel the event. Any decision regarding rescheduling the event or entry credit to another event will be made as quickly as possible and be communicated via email to all participants.

UNABLE TO ATTEND?

We do not mail race shirts to registered participants that are unable to attend the event.

In its 19th year, Pedal Hilton Head Island has been a cornerstone event for the Boys & Girls Club. Your participation in Pedal Hilton Head Island supports our commitment to keep children on the path to academic success. New this year: 3 ride distances will be offered in Bluffton!

Rides for every level of cyclist give "pedalers" a chance to see Hilton Head Island, a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community, or tour the neighboring community of Bluffton. Routes feature some of the best vistas and communities in the Lowcountry.

PEDAL-FOR-A-KID CHALLENGE

Pedal-for-a-Kid is a registration upgrade that supports the Club's scholarship fund. Many of our young people would not be able to attend the Boys & Girls Club without the help of scholarship and fee assistance. We do not turn away any kid due to an inability to pay.

The Pedal-for-a-Kid option includes the standard ride swag, a commemorative 2026 Pedal jersey, an included tax-deductible donation to the Boys & Girls Club (donation-receipt mailed directly from the Club), and best of all, a photo of a Club kid to pin to the back of your jersey during the ride!

We encourage challenge riders to fundraise beyond this special registration. Please contact ride@pedalhhi.org for help creating your personal fundraising page.

District Dash 5K

The Beaufort County School District (BCSD) is excited to host the District Dash 5K on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Coligny Beach, Hilton Head Island. This community event is designed to promote exercise, wellness, and healthy habits across all schools.

Event Overview

Students, families, and community members are encouraged to participate alongside their school groups. When registering, participants can choose which school they are supporting. Families with students at multiple schools may select more than one.

The top 3 schools with the most overall race participation will receive a wellness funding prize to support their school’s MUSC Wellness Program.

0.5 DASH for Elementary Students ages 7 and under: A new half-mile race just for elementary school participants. Registration required. Start time: 9:00 AM.

Brooks’ Marathon Kids Partnership: Elementary schools using the free Marathon Kids tracking program through PE, recess, or running clubs can log miles throughout the year. Students who complete a full marathon (26.2 miles) during the 2025–26 school year will be recognized at District Dash. The school with the most Marathon Kids participants will also receive a portion of race proceeds as a wellness donation.

Buddy Run/Walk: High schools with a Buddy Club for exceptional students are invited to highlight partner pairs during the event.

RACE FORMAT

Triathlon = 500m Ocean Swim | 6mi Beach Bike | 3mi Beach Run

Duathlon = 1.5mi Beach Run | 6mi Beach Bike | 3mi Beach Run

RACE COURSE

Transition Area:
- The transition area is located on the beach.
- The bike racks will not be numbered – the triathletes may rack their bike first come – first serve.
- Only participants are allowed in the transition area. The bikes racks will be fenced in so that only participants can access the area.
- No bike storage overnight.
- Only the race participant may remove his/her bike from the transition area.
- Participants must run their bikes to the transition area entrance before mounting and must dismount at the transition area entrance upon completing the bike leg.
Swim (Triathlon only):
- Swim caps are provided in the race packet and must be worn.
- The swim is a mass start – meaning, all swimmers begin at the same time.
- The swim is parallel to the shore and with the current. So, swimmers will swim approx. 35m out around the first buoy – swim 430m down passing the second buoy on their inside and at the third buoy – swim 35m in to shore. There are three yellow buoys in the water. Swimmers must swim on the outside of the buoys at all times.
- There will be plenty of water support in the water. If you feel you need assistance during the swim, roll over on your back and raise your hand in the air.
- Swimmers will exit the water directly in front of the transition area.
- There will be water available for the swimmers as they exit the ocean.
Bike:
- The bike course is entirely on the beach.
- Bikers will ride 1.5mi down the beach to a turn around – then ride 3mi down the beach to another turn around – then 1.5mi back to the transition area.
- The turn around(s) will be staffed with volunteers and very visible – but it is up to the triathlete to be aware of where they are at all times.
Run:
- The run course is entirely on the beach
- Duathletes will start their race with a 1.5mi run
- Duathletes and triathletes will run the same 3rd leg of the race – a 3mi run.
- The run is a .75mi down the beach to a turn around - then run 1.5mi down the beach to another turnaround - then run back .75mi to the finish.
BIKE RENTAL

Participants have the option of renting a bike for the race during the registration process. We will deliver and pick up the bike on race morning.

NOTE : This option expires 4 days prior to the race.

DELIVERY - Rental bikes will be delivered to the race site - at the fountains leading into the Coligny Beach Boardwalk - no later than 7:00a.

RETURN - Rental bikes must be returned to the same spot after the race is over - or, no later than 9:30a.

PARKING

There is ample parking across the street from the race site in the Coligny Beach Parking Lot – located just off of Pope Ave.

There is also parking available at the Circle Center Shopping Plaza off Pope Ave.- two blocks from the race site.

RESULTS

Your Preliminary time will be emailed to you 20secs after your finish - including a link to the Live Results.

Final Results will be email to you shortly after the completion of the race - and, will be posted on the RESULTS page.

AWARDS CEREMONY

The awards presentation will begin immediately after the last finisher completes the race. The awards ceremony will take place at the Coligny Beach access area. You must be present to collect your award – or have someone get it for you. Awards will not be mailed out. The awards ceremony is expected to take place ~ 9:45a.

Triathlon Awards are given in each gender to the top ten finishers 39 – under, top ten 40 – over, and top five 60 – over, and top five relay teams overall.

Duathlon Awards are given in each gender to top three overall.

FAQ’s

Is this race entirely on the beach?

Yes, aside from swimming in the ocean, you will bike and run on the hard flat beach.

Are headphones allowed?

No, please refrain from using headphones during the bike and run portion this event.

What type of bike do I need?

You may use any type bike you prefer – but we recommend a fat tire bike (eg., mtn. bike, beach cruiser, hybrid…) for best handling.

Are wetsuits allowed?

Yes, this race is not sanctioned by USAT – so, wetsuits are always allowed – no matter the water temperature. That said, the water temperature is typically in the mid to hi 70's and wetsuits are not necessary for warmth.

Is there an age limit to compete?

All swimmers must be 15 years old on race day. So, a triathlete racing solo has to be at least 15 on race day. But, team members may be under 15 if they are the biker or runner (and, the swimmer is at least 15).

Does the Duathlon and Triathlon start at the same time?

Yes, when the triathletes start the swim - the duathletes will start their 1st run.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PLAN

The safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff is our paramount concern - and, this concern shapes our decisions regarding inclement weather. Any decisions regarding the weather will be made the morning the event. We plan on producing a great event and we will be at the race site ready to do so. Should the weather pose any threat to safety - we will postpone the start of the event until the weather clears. If the weather does not cooperate after a reasonable amount of time, we will make the decision to cancel the event. Any decision regarding rescheduling the event or entry credit to another event will be made as quickly as possible and be communicated via email to all participants.

UNABLE TO ATTEND?

We do not mail race shirts to registered participants that are unable to attend the event.

Hit the beach this July 4th for the USA 5K at Coligny Beach, Hilton Head Island. We have a July 4th celebration that all runners and walkers will love!

This is a fun, simple, family oriented running experience for all ages and skill levels (runners and walkers) - that will not impose on the other activities you have planned for the July 4th holiday.

The 2026 event is entirely on the hard, flat, and fast beach! PLENTY of room to run fast -or- walk with your family and friends.

- Final Results will be emailed to every participant upon the completion of the event.
- Awards winners - pick up award at race or later in the week at your convenience (see above).
INCLEMENT WEATHER PLAN

Safety for our participants, volunteers, and staff is our number one concern. Any decision we make regarding the production or cancellation of the event will be made with their interest first and foremost. If mother nature does not cooperate on race morning - we will delay the event until the conditions are safe - this delay will continue for a reasonable amount of time until we deem it necessary to cancel the event. If time permits and if the weather poses a threat that is certain to make us cancel the event in the hours prior the start, we will notify participants of the race cancellation via email as soon as that decision is made.

The Firecracker 5K course offers the most scenic park side run that showcases the natural beauty of Honey Horn Park.

Honey Horn is a historic 68-acre property on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, that serves as the home of the Coastal Discovery Museum. Located at 70 Honey Horn Drive, just off William Hilton Parkway, it offers visitors a rich blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. The grounds are adorned with majestic live oaks draped in Spanish moss and feature expansive salt marshes.

The route features a mix of paved roads and gravel paths, making it both runner- and walker-friendly. A flat course provides the perfect balance of challenge and comfort for participants of all fitness levels. As you make your way around the grounds, you’ll be surrounded by lush greenery and the vibrant sights and sounds of Hilton Head’s unique wildlife.

The finish line awaits near the park pavilion, where cheering spectators and post-race festivities add to the celebratory atmosphere. Whether you're chasing a personal best or enjoying a leisurely holiday run, the Firecracker 5K course offers a memorable experience for all!

Pick up your race packet on July 3rd from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Palmetto Running Company, located in Shelter Cove Town Center (28 Shelter Cove Lane, Unit 117, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928). Parking is available in the town center lot.

The race begins at 8 a.m. on July 4th at Honey Horn Park (70 Honey Horn Dr. Hilton Head Island, SC 29926). Please arrive by 7 a.m. to allow ample time for parking, check-in, and stretching before the race. NO same day registration.
