This event is designed to give kids a chance to experience the excitement of a triathlon-style challenge in a safe, encouraging, and low-pressure environment. Participants will complete a short loop around Grovedale Winery with age-appropriate activities that keep the focus on movement, confidence, and fun.
The Kids Try-A-Tri is perfect for young participants who want to try something new, cheer each other on, and be part of race weekend in a way that is built just for them. This is not about speed or cut throat competition it’s about getting active, building confidence, and celebrating every kid who gives it a try.
Families are encouraged to come out, cheer loud, and enjoy the community atmosphere at Grovedale Winery. Whether your child is brand new to events like this or already loves to run, bike, paddle, or play outside, the Kids Try-A-Tri is a great way to make them part of the Triathlon weekend fun.

Please stage your kayak and bike before 7:30 a.m. There will not be time after that point to do so.

Race starts at 8 a.m.
A pace car will lead the runners to the Terrytown Launch and there will be a water station right before at the Terrytown Cemetery.
The skilled staff from Endless Mountain Outfitters will be on sight at the launch if you need help getting your kayak into the water, but they will not do so unless directed by you.
At the Endless Mountain Outfitters leg change - there will be a water station.
Our finish line is right back at Grovedale where we will have awards, food, and live music for anyone looking to unwind and cool off.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
You need to wear a life jacket while kayaking and a helmet when biking. These need to be hooked and racers will be disqualified if they are not wearing these.
We love to have family and friends there as spectators cheering you on BUT we do not want them running the course with you or biking the course. This is not safe for them or for our participants. Please remind them of this if they plan to do that.
We will stress that there are no spectators who drive off toward the Terrytown launch site. There is no space to accommodate cars there, because this area is still open to the public and there is just not enough room. We encourage everyone to leave from the high school and go over to EMO to watch you come in off the water. There are some great places to view from that point.
