Join us for the Kids Try-A-Tri, a fun and beginner-friendly youth event hosted as part of the Wyalusing North Branch Triathlon weekend!
This event is designed to give kids a chance to experience the excitement of a triathlon-style challenge in a safe, encouraging, and low-pressure environment. Participants will complete a short loop around Grovedale Winery with age-appropriate activities that keep the focus on movement, confidence, and fun.
The Kids Try-A-Tri is perfect for young participants who want to try something new, cheer each other on, and be part of race weekend in a way that is built just for them. This is not about speed or cut throat competition it’s about getting active, building confidence, and celebrating every kid who gives it a try.
Families are encouraged to come out, cheer loud, and enjoy the community atmosphere at Grovedale Winery. Whether your child is brand new to events like this or already loves to run, bike, paddle, or play outside, the Kids Try-A-Tri is a great way to make them part of the Triathlon weekend fun.
And here’s a slightly shorter version if Active gives you less room:
The Kids Try-A-Tri is a fun, beginner-friendly youth event held as part of the Wyalusing North Branch Triathlon weekend at Grovedale Winery.
Designed with kids in mind, this low-pressure event gives young participants the chance to experience the excitement of a triathlon-style challenge through a short, supervised loop and age-appropriate activities. The focus is on movement, confidence, community, and fun- not speed or competition. Although we will be crowing our Junior Ironman and Ironwoman
Families are encouraged to cheer on their young athletes and enjoy the race weekend atmosphere. Whether your child is trying something new or already loves being active outdoors, the Kids Try-A-Tri is a great way to be part of the Triathlon weekend celebration.

DAY OF EVENT:
-
Registration will open at 6:30 a.m. at Grovedale Winery. Everyone will receive a bib and the race chip will be attached to your bike. If you're a team - only the member doing the bike leg will receive a chip
-
Please stage your kayak and bike before 7:30 a.m. There will not be time after that point to do so.
-
Pre-race talk will begin promptly at 7:45 a.m.
-
Race starts at 8 a.m.
-
A pace car will lead the runners to the Terrytown Launch and there will be a water station right before at the Terrytown Cemetery.
-
The skilled staff from Endless Mountain Outfitters will be on sight at the launch if you need help getting your kayak into the water, but they will not do so unless directed by you.
-
At the Endless Mountain Outfitters leg change - there will be a water station.
-
Our finish line is right back at Grovedale where we will have awards, food, and live music for anyone looking to unwind and cool off.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
-
You need to wear a life jacket while kayaking and a helmet when biking. These need to be hooked and racers will be disqualified if they are not wearing these.
-
We love to have family and friends there as spectators cheering you on BUT we do not want them running the course with you or biking the course. This is not safe for them or for our participants. Please remind them of this if they plan to do that.
-
We will stress that there are no spectators who drive off toward the Terrytown launch site. There is no space to accommodate cars there, because this area is still open to the public and there is just not enough room. We encourage everyone to leave from the high school and go over to EMO to watch you come in off the water. There are some great places to view from that point.

Work up an appetite on the race course, and then have some blueberry pancakes at our breakfast tent! We have family friendly events happening all day on the Village Green in Montrose, PA. If you're feeling extra competitive, sign up for our pie-eating contest Saturday afternoon! All proceeds from the Blueberry Festival (and 5K/Fun Run) benefit the Susquehanna Historical Society & Free Library Association.
The race will be run through the streets of quaint and picturesque Montrose. The 5K is a timed race, while the Fun Run is not.

Cash awards will be given to the three top scoring schools for both males and females and an additional cash award will be given to the school that registers the most overall participants. A check will be made out to the running program of each school receiving an award.
Cash awards for both Male and Female scores are as follows;
1st place school - $500
2nd place school - $300
3rd place school - $100
School with the most overall participants - $100
If you want to support the athletic department of a School District, please identify the school district when asked. It's a great way to show your school spirit!
All runners who pre-register by July 19th will receive an event T-shirt.
*Those registering after that date may receive a T-shirt if available. All participants for the 5K and the Fun Run must sign a waiver.
