Join us for the 1st Annual “Love, Jill” Memorial Race, a 5K charity run and 1-mile walk through the streets of Beaver along the beautiful Ohio River on August 15, 2026. This event is held in loving memory of Jill Renee Littler, who passed away on September 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
Jill’s strength was forged long before her cancer diagnosis. At just 15 years old, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, a fight she carried with her for 36 years. Through countless surgeries, hospital stays, treatments, and daily challenges, Jill faced her illness with quiet resilience, grit, and grace—never allowing it to define her or diminish the love she gave to others.
In early 2025, Jill was diagnosed with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma. She approached this battle with the same determination and grace that defined her life. On May 2nd, Jill underwent major surgery that included extensive lymph node removal, partial mandible (jaw) removal, and complex reconstruction using a titanium plate, followed by reconstructive surgery. Her treatment continued with 33 rounds of radiation and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. Despite setbacks, severe side effects, and overwhelming physical challenges, Jill pushed forward with unwavering resolve, always focused on her family and the people she loved.
In August 2025, Jill was hospitalized after developing a blood clot in her lung. Following additional procedures, doctors discovered the cancer had spread. With love, clarity, and extraordinary courage, her family made the difficult decision to bring her home, where she passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 22, 2025. Race weekend falls on Jill’s birthday, making this gathering an especially meaningful celebration of her life.
Jill was the heart of her family and a bright light in the Beaver County community. She lived guided by the values she cherished—love of family, service to others, a strong work ethic, kindness, and gentle leadership. Whether as a coworker, friend, volunteer, or quiet supporter behind the scenes, Jill had a rare way of lifting people up. This event honors not only her memory, but the compassion, strength, and grace she shared so freely with everyone she met.
Participants may choose between a 5K run or a 1-mile fun walk. The event will also feature a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle.
All registered participants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt, available for pickup at the event.

Why “Love, Jill”?
Jill ended every note, message, and reminder the same way she lived her life—with love. To honor that legacy, her family created the annual “Love, Jill” Scholarship, transforming her signature into a lasting gift for young people in our community. Through this scholarship, Jill’s message continues to inspire future generations:
“I believe in you.”
We invite the entire Beaver County community to join us in celebrating Jill’s life, honoring her legacy, and showing her family just how deeply she was loved.

THE BATTLES TO BIKES STORY:
For over 20 years, Jim Yurek (The Bike Lab owner) served his local western Pennsylvania communities as a police officer and in those decades, time and again he interacted with United States veterans in need. At the point he intercepted these American heroes, they were often deep in the throes of trauma, anguish and the feeling that America had forgotten about them. Many of these veterans struggled with mental illness, substance abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and physical injuries related to military combat. Following his retirement from law enforcement, Jim made a significant career change in 2021 and opened The Bike Lab.
Jim soon made friends with Drew, an Army veteran and bike enthusiast, and through the sharing of his harrowing military stories, spurred Jim’s quest to find a way to serve local veterans through The Bike Lab. The idea of Battles to Bikes was born.
In the fall of 2021, a small but passionate group joined forces as the Board of Directors for Battles to Bikes. The five-member Board is composed of business leaders, bike enthusiasts and local community members with a shared vision to serve the veterans of western Pennsylvania. One of the Board members is also an Army veteran. Drew serves as a Board Advisor.
In October 2022, Battles to Bikes was designated a 501c3 non-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Starting out slow as many non-profits do, the initial funds of Battles to Bikes were raised through small raffles and a 62-mile paid-registration group bike ride event on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) in July 2022. Using an anonymous application process, Battles to Bikes – supported by The Bike Lab – was able to gift its first mountain bike, a Giant, to a local veteran on Saturday, November 12, 2022 in honor of Veterans Day.
In May 2023, Battles to Bikes presented a new Giant Cypress to our friends at Pittsburgh Warriors, a military service-connected hockey team for disabled veterans. Pittsburgh Warriors gifted the bicycle to veteran / Pittsburgh Warriors participant, Josh, who used his new rig to train for and participant in the July 2023 Healing Ride, a GAP trail ride from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. Since the inception of Battles to Bikes, we have gifted over 12 bicycles to local veterans.
Be sure to watch the Battles to Bikes’ Facebook page for fundraising events and group rides!

Introducing the Leisure Option for the Colors of Cancer 5K!

We’re all here to support the fight against cancer, so no matter how you choose to participate, your involvement makes a difference. Whether you’re racing for a personal best or just enjoying a leisurely stroll, we can’t wait to see you there!

Welcome to a gravel adventure like no other! Grass roots racing at its best, with 3 challenging courses to test your legs and lungs, while giving back to the community you are riding in. Whether you are coming to race or to hang out and ride with friends at a party pace, MFAR welcomes you to northern Jefferson County. Riders interested in racing for points in the Ohio Gravel Race Series can test themselves on our Hellbender route over 54 miles. Riders not racing for points have two other options at 32.5 and 16 miles. 40mm tires or bigger suggested.
The roads are rough and steep, but that should only add to the allure. This is a ride that will make you feel like you earned your meal afterwards, which is included with your race fee.
Afterall, you have to ride up big hills, if you want big downhill thrills!
Any question please reach out. See you all in August!

This route features the best gravel finish in Ohio! 10 miles of uninterrupted gravel that flows slightly downhill to a flat 1 mile of pavement to the finish. The start is equally as epic, start with Crowe Hill a.k.a. The Church Climb at 500ft and then a technical descent leading to the signature climb and road for the event, Schoolhouse. Get the bulk of your climbing done early and enjoy the ride back.
Schoolhouse Revenge - Schoolhouse Revenge 2026 downhill finish · Ride with GPS

9 Donation to the Irondale Fire Department
Our Neighbors and Friends:
Irondale Fire Department will be on course again this year providing enhanced safety and cheering you all on. What a great group that we are so proud to call friends and partners. They will join us for the post race meal as well.
Post race meal will be provided by Naples Spaghetti House, family owned and operated for over 100 years. The rigatoni dinner is made with sauce the owner Lisa makes the morning of the race, and the bread is from the bakery in town that uses no preservatives and a special oven creating bread that we locally consider to be the best bread ever with a crunchy crust and soft interior.
Additonal Stuff:
Free camping in the field the night before the race with a community bonfire. No fires or RV's (they are so heavy, if it rains really heavy leading up to the event we worry they could get stuck in the field. There are close local campgrounds if interested in RV parking. One RV campground is less than a half mile from the start line.
Lodging Options:
Austin Lake Park – Camping in Ohio – There’s so much to do here! very close and has very nice amenities- a great choice if a family or group weekend is planned. It needs mentioning that they have a waterpark onsite and after a long hot day of gravel grinding a water park might feel nice.
If the camping or Austin Lake are not your speed we suggest you book a hotel in Calcutta/East Liverpool or Steubenville which will put you less than 30 minutes driving from the venue.
There is also an RV campground at the end of the road that the venue is on, about a quarter mile from the start/finish. Joe Bottom's is the name and if anyone has a tow behind or RV it offers full hookups.
Please download the route to a cycling computer. The files are spot on and ensure you have a stress free day with no worries of navigation. A few signs get stolen or messed with each year is why we stress downloading the route.
Any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
See you all August 15th!
