The folks at the WFRA would like to invite you all to the 4th annual Bikes, Brews, and Burgers Poker “Chip” Run. (A poker run, with a twist) The ride will kick off from CCC Camp
traversing 13ish miles of wooded trails in Winona State Forest.
Anyone with a bike is welcome to attend this non-competitive event. This one is purely for the fun of it.
Can walkers participate in Bikes Brews and Burgers? Absolutely. We have set aside the fabulous Norway Trail for those of you who would like to walk, run, or anything in between.
Ride a fabulous 11 mile course featuring non-technical single track, gravel roads, and simply great trails. No serious hills or technical terrain will be on the course.
[5e023bc4-a603-4b96-aea0-844296088171.png]
Saturday, June 20, 2026
The course will open at 10:00 AM, the last participant must depart by 10:30 AM. Riders will be following a well marked course, stopping at designated checkpoints along the way. The course begins and ends at CCC camp, where burgers and assorted bbq foods will be offered. Registration fee includes 1 beer. BYO beverage if desired.
Bikes of all types are welcome! Per DEC, Class 1 E-bikes are allowed on state forest trails. The definition of Class 1 E-bike which is used for State Purposes is a bicycle with an electric motor that provides assistance only when pedaling and ceases to aid pedaling when 20 mile per hour has been reached.
Your registration includes:
Admission to the event
Membership to WFRA
All you can eat burger BBQ following the ride (burgers, dogs, salads, assorted beverages)
One beer (optional and 21 and over)
Post Ride:
How will the Poker “CHIP” Ride work?
At each checkpoint, a participant will reach into a bag and draw 3 chips.
The bag at each checkpoint contains an equal number of chips, 3 different colors. (red, white, blue)
The colors drawn will be stamped on the participants score sheet (sample image below) by the event official at the checkpoint
Once everyone is back (or most everyone), point values of each color will be determined
The participant with the highest number of points will win.
In the case of a tie in points, participants will cut a deck of cards. Highest card drawn will prevail.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and so on until we run out of prizes.
So….no one knows how good their “hand” is, until they have returned and values are determined.
How are the points determined?
When most (or all) participants have returned, there will be a public drawing. 1 chip of each color will be in a bag. A volunteer reaches into the bag and blindly draws out a chip. The first chip drawn is worth 20 points, the second chip is worth 10 points and the third chip is worth 5 points.
For example, if the first chip drawn is red, then every red chip drawn on the ride is worth 20 points. If the second chip is white then all the white chips are worth 10 points and the blue chips were worth 5 points.
Your registration will be applied towards a WFRA Basic membership (April 1, 2025 - March 31, 2026). If you wish to become a higher level member at a later date, we will be happy to apply the $40 to your higher level membership.
Membership pays for our trail projects. We are a driven bunch of volunteers, and lovers of outdoor recreation. Thank you for supporting us.
What do the different membership levels mean?
A “Basic Membership" is just that….basic. It is an inexpensive way to say “hey guys, thanks for all you do”. Since we are a 501c non-profit, and the forest is state governed, we cannot charge day use fees, or any other trail passes. So your membership is how we generate revenue to do all we do. Also important - membership data drives grant opportunities. So please encourage all to become members of WFRA.
A “Family Membership” is a lot like Basic, but includes all your household family members.
A “Silver Membership” - we get a little extra, and you get a shirt.
A “Gold Member” gets a couple more perks, including a free entry to an event
A “Platinum Member” gets all our events for free. When you add it all up, it is a bargain. Contact the race director at any of our events for a coupon code. Very easy.
The “Family Platinum” is the ultimate motivator to get your family involved in our events. This membership level allows everyone in your household to participate in all our events - at no charge.
Bring extra CASH - Awesome raffle prizes will be awarded

About The Tug Hill
The Tug Hill region lies between Lake Ontario and the Adirondacks. Larger than Delaware or Rhode Island, its 2,100 square miles comprise one of the most rural and remote sections of New York State and the Northeast. A scattering of public lands covers a tenth of the region, with most of that land used extensively for timber production, hunting, and recreation. The rest is privately owned forest, farms, and homes, all of it working land that supports the region’s way of life. Tug Hill’s total population is just over 100,000, with two-thirds of those people concentrated in villages around its edge. Its densely forested core of about 275 square miles is among New York’s most remote areas, with a population of just a few thousand and few public roads.
Race Rules
Violations of any of the rules below could lead to being DQed! Promoter reserves the right to shift start times, change course layout, and combine fields based on safety issues and field sizes. Be sure to check your pre-race email for all final details before race day.
All riders must wear a helmet
All courses are open to traffic so follow the rules of the road.
Do not litter on course.
Be kind to everyone: Course marshals, volunteers, other racers, spectators, locals etc. A lot of people work hard to put this together, help us continue it by being kind.
You can race any bike you want (as long as it’s not an e-bike) but we recommend a gravel, mtb or cross bike. Road bikes are not advised.
No e-bikes in the competitive field.
The majority of gravel is pristine and very fast with only a handful of sections with some big stones. We recommend a minimum tire width of 35mm.
