50 Miles Last Man Standing Run Ultra

Welcome to the Newbsanity Last Man Standing OCR Ultra! Athletes will complete an obstacle loop every hour on the hour until only one athlete remains. This event is meant to be an obstacle course version of a "backyard ultra"...it will be a grueling physical and mental test for all who decide to take on the challenge! Athletes will begin their first loop at 8AM.

Course

-The loop will be approximately 3 miles

Starting Corral

-Participants must be in the starting corral at the bell (start of the lap)

Starts

-Each loop starts precisely 1 hour after the last

-Warning will be given 3,2,1 minutes prior to start

-All competitors must start at the bell. No late starts

Loops

-Except for restrooms, competitors may not leave the course until each loop is completed.

-Eliminated runners may start additional laps during the official lap starts but may not provide physical assistance to those still in the competition.

-No personal aid during the loop. There will be a common aid station at roughly the halfway mark.

-Each lap must be completed in the hour to be counted…Including the final lap.

-Slower runners must allow passes

Timing

-Laps will not be officially timed. Position is simply based on the number of laps completed before elimination

-Eliminated runners can still accumulate mileage towards the Ultra series rankings by completing additional laps starting and finishing within the hour.

-The winner is the last person to complete a loop

-All others are technically DNF

-Results of each runner is terms of loops/distance will be given.

-If no runner can complete one or more loop than anyone else, there is no winner.

Cap

-Race is open ended.

On Saturday, April 18th, Omega Phi Alpha is hosting our third annual 5K event (O-5-K) on and around the BU brain to raise money and support for Mental Health and Suicide Awareness. O-5-K will start at the front of University Union at 11 AM. This year's theme is "Love Grows Where OPhiA Goes!” This theme represents individuals and our never-ending growth as people, especially in areas of mental health. Wear anything floral themed or brightly colored for the beginning of Spring! The first three male and female runners will receive a prize! Free water and snacks will be provided to all participants.

As Binghamton students, we have learned firsthand how mental health can impact not just individuals but the campus as a whole. Our goal is to raise money for an organization that will benefit Binghamton and surrounding areas directly within the mental health realm: the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier. All proceeds from donations, registration, and sponsorships will be directed toward the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier.

The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) is a nonprofit organization based in New York State, USA. It serves the Southern Tier region, which includes counties such as Broome, Tioga, Chenango, and Delaware. MHAST is dedicated to promoting mental wellness and providing support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by mental illness.

MHAST offers various programs and services aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and helping individuals access resources for treatment and support. These programs may include support groups, educational workshops, crisis intervention services, suicide prevention initiatives, and community outreach activities.

For more information about this wonderful organization:

In the event that it rains on April 18th, O5K will be rescheduled to April 25th at 11AM instead.
