PLEASE NOTE: This race is open to all types of runners and all age groups! Teams for the USATF-NJ 1 Mile Team Championship competition will be declared using the normal process. That is, team captains will submit their rosters by e-mail to the timing company (CompuScore in this case) and to the USATF-NJ LDR Committee the day before the race. USATF-NJ will send out e-mail early next week announcing the race and providing the details for the roster submission process. The Big Bang Mile registration web site is where non-USATF-NJ teams are declared.

The schedule of each heat will be slightly adjusted on event day depending on the entries for each race.

TEAMS
Teams for the High School and Middle School Mile and for the Fitness Team Mile are created via the Big Bang Mile race website. Click on the "More" menu option and then on the appropriate team category.
There is no fee for creating a team.
The person who creates a team is the team's captain.
Only registered runners can be added to a team.
Team must have a minimum of 3 contestants.
To encourage family teams in the Fitness Team Mile, we allow a contestant to "double dip" by competing for a team in the Family category as well as a team in another Fitness Team Mile category.
Teams for the USATF-NJ Long Distance Running Grand Prix are handled through a separate process that is administered by USATF-NJ.
AWARDS
Open Runners Awards
Top 3 USATF-NJ runners in each of the Open Men and Open Women Mile races will be awarded either a pair of running shoes or cash (amount TBD).
Any non-USATF-NJ man or woman who finishes among the top 3 in their Open heat will receive cash (amount TBD).
To score for a USATF-NJ Open team, the individual needs to have been identified in the respective team submission(s) to Compuscore (the scoring company) and USATF-NJ. These submissions are anticipated to be due via email by 6 PM on Friday, July 17.
Masters (age 40+) Runners Awards
Top 3 USATF-NJ masters men and masters women based on age grading, based on their respective Masters Mile races (regardless of what Masters race participating in), will be awarded either a pair of running shoes or cash (amount TBD).
Any non-USATF-NJ man or woman who achieves the top age grading for their gender among Masters heat participants will receive $100 cash.
To score for a USATF-NJ Masters team, the individual needs to have been identified in the respective team submission(s) to Compuscore (the scoring company) and USATF-NJ. These submissions are anticipated to be due via email by 6 PM on Friday, July 17.
Age Group Awards
For any runners (USATF-NJ Member or not), as an individual to be eligible for the Age Group awards, you must run in the Race for your respective Age.
Age Groups (Male and Female) are for the Top 3 (Male and Female) for ages 18-29, and 5-year age groups from 30 through 79, and 80+.

Cash Awards
$200 Cash Bonus for a winning time under 4:10 for the men or under 4:50 for the women.
Any open finisher in the top 3 who is not a USATF-NJ member will be eligible for a cash award ($100 for 1st, $75 for 2nd and $50 for 3rd for both men and women).
*It is anticipated that the Cash awards will be given out on race day during the Awards ceremony.

THE STORY BEHIND THE BIG BANG MILE
The Bell Works building was once a primary location for Bell Laboratories. “Bell Labs” attracted top-notch scientists to conduct basic research that might advance telephony. Two such scientists, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, studied radio signals from space in support of the Telstar project. In 1964, to their surprise, they observed a background noise coming from every direction in the sky. Wherever they pointed their radio telescope, they measured the same frequency and strength of microwave radiation. Puzzled, Penzias and Wilson conferred with colleagues. Princeton University astronomer Robert Dicke revealed they had found evidence for the Big Bang. This is a theory that the universe started with an explosion 13.8 billion years ago. For their important contribution to science, Penzias and Wilson were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1978.
The radio telescope used by Penzias and Wilson still stands today. It is located on top of Crawford Hill, about 2 miles northwest of the Bell Works facility. A nearby plaque explains its significance. It is worth a visit. In fact, Holmdel Township has purchased the 30 acres that surround the antenna and will convert it into Dr. Robert Wilson Park.
The Shore Athletic Club, New Jersey's oldest running club, dedicates the Big Bang Mile Race to scientists everywhere. We hope that runners draw inspiration from this story to learn more about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and perhaps even pursue a STEM career. Aim high!

TECHNICAL RULES
EQUIPMENT
Fixed Gear bikes must be in excellent working condition and meet all of the following requirements:
• Track bike with horizontal dropouts (no conversions)
• Drop handlebars with tape/grips and plugged ends
• Lock ring must be present and secure
• Clipless pedals only (no straps or cages); cleats must be in good condition
• Rear wheel must sit fully within the rear dropout
• Tubeless and tubular tires are permitted
• Computers and mounted cameras are permitted but must be securely attached
• Spoked wheels only; disc wheels and tri-/aero-spokes are prohibited
• Brake levers, calipers, cables, and hoods are prohibited
• Lights and reflectors are prohibited

RACE RULES
All riders are responsible for knowing when and where they are required to be for their races. Riders who miss their scheduled start or qualifying heat will not be permitted to race.
If a field exceeds the venue start limit 7 days before the race, the event may be conducted in a multi-round race format. The schedule will be adjusted accordingly. Any format changes will be published in advance and communicated to registered riders

Turns: 7 right / 3 left
Direction: Clockwise
Width: 4 meters (narrowest) to 8 meters (widest)
The start/finish straight is short, measuring approximately 122 meters total, with about 65 meters from the exit of the final corner to the line.
Turns 1 and 2 form a tight chicane. Turn 1 is narrow and 90 degrees, requiring careful speed control to set up for the wider exit of Turn 2. With a single fast line through the chicane, positioning into the straight will be contested.
Turn 3 has a wide radius with a slightly uphill exit.
Turn 4 is a straightforward 90-degree corner with a wide exit.
Turn 5 follows a long arc around the trees and requires heavy braking. Limited sight lines and a narrow exit make this corner challenging. While there is runoff, riders may exit into the grass.
Turn 6 is a long, sweeping corner at the bottom of a steep downhill section. Positioning here is critical for the next turn.
Turn 7 is a classic hairpin with downhill entry and high speeds. Braking skill is essential. This corner is often decisive for the finish.
Turn 8 is a wide, fast hairpin that allows continued pedaling and positioning for the finish.
Turn 9 is a straightforward 90-degree corner with a wide exit.
Turn 10 is a fast, wide 90-degree corner that allows a sprint to develop after the exit.
START
• Riders must start with one foot on the ground
• Track stands and leaning on railings are prohibited
• Bicycles will be inspected prior to each rider’s heat
FINISH SPRINT
• After the finish, continue straight to the lawn area if it is safe to do so
LAPS
• The number of laps will be announced prior to the start
• A lap counter will be displayed on the truss at the start/finish line
• A bell will signal prime laps and the final lap
• Lap counts are subject to change at the Chief Referee discretion
LAPPED RIDERS
• Riders must exit the course immediately when instructed by race officials or marshals
• Pulled riders will be ranked based on their last completed lap
• The sweeper moto will run approximately 15 seconds ahead of the lead moto
• When approached by the sweeper moto, riders must exit the course promptly
• Riders must exit the circuit safely and under control
• Race officials may signal riders to exit the course at any time
• Riders who refuse to exit will be disqualified
REGISTRATION
The check-in desk is located in the large parking lot near the Start/Finish line. Check-in opens 1 hour before the first race/heat and closes 10 minutes before the first heat start.
A valid USAC or UCI license is required. A $10 late fee applies to day-of registration. Timing chips from other races may remain on the bicycle.
Registration transfers to another rider are available through your BikeReg account at no charge.
AWARDS
Top 3 finishers in each race must report to the podium area within 10 minutes of their race for awards and media. Riders must be present to receive prizes. Prizes will be forfeited if the rider is not present.
RESULTS
Results will be posted on Road-Results.com and the USA Cycling website, typically within 48 hours.

DIRECTIONS
By car: Take the Triborough Bridge to Randall’s Island and follow signs to Icahn Stadium. Parking is available next to the stadium.
By bicycle: From the 102nd Street bridge (Q train at 96th St), turn left immediately after the bridge and follow the bike path to the wooden bridge on the left. The course begins immediately after the bridge. Follow marshal instructions for safe access to the Start/Finish area.
WATER, BATHROOMS & TRASH
A water fountain is located to the left of the Icahn Stadium entrance. Permanent restrooms are located to the right of the entrance. Trash receptacles are available near the registration desk.

Come join the good brothers of Black Men Run New York City for our 5th annual Bed-Stuy Heritage 5K where we celebrate the true heritage of the historic neighborhood of Brooklyn's Bedford Stuyvesant.

Join us for Tri the Park at Tarrytown’s Pierson Park, a youth triathlon designed for fun, challenge, and community spirit! Participants will compete in a POOL swim, followed by a closed bike loop and park run. Whether your athlete is tackling the long course or giving the short course a go, it’s a great way to race this summer.
The entire race should take athletes anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes as it is a beginner course, and each participant will receive a finisher’s medal!
Long Course: 100m swim, 2mi bike, 0.50mi run
Short Course: 50m swim, 1mi bike, 0.25mi run
Participants can compete in either distance race and must be between the ages of 6-16.
Register by noon on June 21st to guarantee your event T-shirt! After that, shirts will be available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. Registration closes on July 12th.

New Racers: New racers are always welcome. If you are a new racer and/or it is your first time at the series, please feel free to contact the race director with any questions or ask for assistance during registration. The race series is a welcoming environment, and there are many experienced racers at the series who are happy to assist new racers.
The Courses: The races is run on a dedicated cycling track. It has smooth pavement and is very level. It has several corners and flows well.
Licenses and Rules: A USA Cycling license is NOT required. All USA Cycling Rules for helmets apply. No Aero Bars.
Cedar Lake Triathlon Summer 2026 Season - Race #5
This is the fifth of our 6 race summer series held every other Thursday night at Cedar Lake for local, grassroots racing at its best.
For 2026, we will offer two races:
Individual and Relay Sprint Triathlon: Our individual and relay sprint triathlons consists of a 500(ish) yard lake swim, a 10 mile bike, and a 5k road run. They are perfect races for first timers who want to see what they can achieve, experienced triathletes looking to fine tune for a longer fall race, or anyone who just wants an active, family summer Thursday evening. We have awards for both the fast and the first (timers), and lots for those in between. Relay teams are welcome and celebrated. Wetsuits are encouraged when the water temperature is below 80 degrees, and strongly encouraged for at least the first two races. Aqua jogging is not permitted.
Super Sprint Triathlon: Returning for its second season is our popular super sprint race: all of the triathlon experience just in a smaller package! The super sprint consists of a 200(ish) yard swim, a 5mile bike, and a 1.7 mile run. First timers love this race: you can start your Thursday as a regular human, finish it as a Triathlete, and let us share the joy of your success with special prizes (and a whole lot of positive energy!!). Younger races are welcome, but you have to be 13 to toe the line. And we love families. If your child is racing, you can race with them for free as long as you accompany them for the entire race. Swim, bike and run with your child; it's a priceless family experience.
Gun Times:
Super Sprint: 6:10 p.m
Individual / Relay Sprint: 6:15 p.m.
Preregistration: Racers must preregister. Register early to secure both a spot and a lower entry fee, which will increase on race day. Last season, the races sold out several times and once we hit our cap, we can't accept any more entries.
Online registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on each race day. There will be no onsite registration this year.
Race day check in starts at 5:00 p.m. and all registered racers must be checked in by 5:45 p.m.
First Time? Come on down to Cedar Lake!! We love first timers and a significant part of our weekly field of racers are athletes getting their feet wet for the first time. In transition, you will see every type of bike racked and ready to race: from expensive carbon TT bikes headed for an Ironman to hybrid bikes and even the occasional beach cruiser. Not sure you can do a triathlon? Finding out is half the fun. Over 95% of our racers finish each week. We don't use cutoff times, except for later in the season as the sun starts to set earlier (typically the last race or two). Not sure exactly how it works? We have lots of friendly experienced volunteers and even a certified tri coach on site on race days to explain the mysteries of buoy turns, transition and equipment. Before you race, be sure that you can swim 20 pool lengths without stopping for the full sprint, or 10 pool lengths for the super sprint. Aqua jogging is not permitted.

Attn new racers: Pick up a paper race number at boat house parking lot at least 15 minutes before start. You will be given a paper race number, once you've taken your first skills session you'll receive a cloth number that will be your number for the season.

The Pass it Along Triathlon at Lake Mohawk Country Club is a one day event, offering USAT Sanctioned Sprint Courses and Olympic Courses.
This event is great for both first timers and intermediate/advanced athletes. Participants can register as an individual entry, or as a relay team. The event takes place at the scenic, privately owned lake community of Lake Mohawk Country Club, located in Sparta Township, New Jersey. Parking for the event is conveniently located directly across from the transition area and swim start at the Historic Lake Mohawk Country Club Clubhouse. Circa 1929, this castle-like structure is listed on the national and state registers of historic places due to its uniqueness of architecture. The transition area is a grassy field, located east of the clubhouse.
The swim portion of the event occurs in the calm waters of the lake, which is patrolled by over 30 lifeguards in boats, kayaks and/or paddle boards. The bike course consists of several hills, and directs participants through the residential countryside of Sparta, Byram and Andover Townships. The run, mostly flat, is along the eastern shore of Lake Mohawk. Participants on the bike and run courses will travel through the lake community's village center, Lake Mohawk White Deer Plaza. The finish line for the event is also located at the Lake Mohawk White Deer Plaza. The Plaza is a convenient and great place for spectators to view the athletes while on the bike and run courses, and crossing the finish line.
Age Requirements: The minimum years of age for participation in the Sprint Course is 14 (if turning 15 by December 31). All participants under the age of 18 years must mail a signed USAT waiver to Pass It Along, 75 State Route 15, Unit 62, Lafayette, NJ 07848 with additional signature of consent of parent/legal guardian.

Online Registration Closes on Friday, July 24th at 11:59pm (EST) or when 350 entries are filled. If spots are still available after Friday, July 24th, registrations will be accepted in person (ie. walk-ins) at Lake Mohawk Country Club (21 The Boardwalk, Sparta, New Jersey) on Thursday, July 24th 3:00pm-8pm and Friday, July 25th from 3:00pm to 7:30pm only. Please note: T-shirts are NOT guaranteed if signed up after July 18th.

1st & 2nd Age Group Awards – 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 & over for the sprint and olympic groups.
Awards will be distributed on Beach 1 at about 9:30am & 11:00am.
Course Responsibility
The Pass It Along Triathlon at Lake Mohawk Country Club is a USAT sanctioned event. In accordance with USAT Rules and Regulations, all participants are responsible for knowing the course. The bike course is not closed to traffic. The run course is on a residential road, and will be closed to through traffic only. The run course is open to residents on the run route, but with limited access. Signage and race volunteers will be stationed throughout the course to help direct any traffic, but please remain alert to your surroundings, and proceed with caution at all times. Maps of the bike & run courses available online at MapMyRide (see links below). Maps will also be available during packet pick up at Lake Mohawk Country Club. Please print maps & course descriptions, also below, to learn the layout for the swim, bike & run. Courses may be subject to change.
Registration Fees
Registration fees are non-refundable. Fees can not be transferred to future events. Entry changes (ie. substitutes for individual and relay team entries) will not be allowed one month prior to the event. No exceptions will be made on registration and event day. Course Maps and Descriptions
SWIM: Swim caps will be provided at packet pickup and must be worn to identify wave number. Be prepared to swim at 7:00am. There will be a briefing and ceremony before the race begins. Swim wave starts will be spaced approximately three minutes apart. Wave groups will be determined upon gender and ages of participants. Lifeguards and boats will be located in the water, and at a safe distance away from the swimmers to aid swimmers, if needed.
Starting at 6:50am, athletes will be instructed to leave the transition area and start on the beach. After the ceremony, Wave 1 will start on Beach 1. Course will be marked with buoys. Course may be subject to change. Upon exiting the water, athletes must proceed to the transition area to prepare for the bike segment of the course. Timing mats will be placed on at the swim in/out section of the transition area. Athletes must cross over the timing mats to ensure accurate race times for the swim & transition to bike segment.
BIKE: Bikers will exit transition area and go left onto West Shore Trail. Helmets are required and must be fastened before leaving transition area. The bike course will not be entirely closed to traffic, and bikers will be advised to ride cautiously. Slower riders must stay to the right to allow faster cyclists to pass on the left. No headphones, earphones, or radio-type devices are allowed.
Bike course will proceed south on West Shore Trail for approximately 4.7 miles. At the end of West Shore Trail, the course will turn right onto Andover-Mohawk Road/County Route 613 for approximately three fourths of a mile. Course will then turn right onto Perona Road and go for approximately 1.5 miles. At the end of Perona Road, the course will go right onto Andover Road/County Route 517 and go for approximately 1.6 miles. At the end of Andover Road/County Route 517, the course will go right onto Sparta Avenue/State Route 181 for approximately 1.33 miles. At the traffic light, the course will continue right on Sparta Avenue/State Route 181 for approx. ½ a mile and then bear right onto Mohawk Avenue. Bikers will enter Lake Mohawk's White Deer Plaza and bear right onto West Shore Trail, heading towards the transition area. Participants will follow signs to dismount. Loop is 10.8 miles.
When finishing the bike course, bikers must dismount bike before entering transition area. Timing mats will be placed on at the bike in/out section of transition area. Athletes must cross over the timing mats to ensure accurate race times for the bike & transition to run segment.
Bike Course Conditions:
West Shore Trail (4.7 miles) is a private, two-lane road with a very steep but short hill at the beginning of the course (approx. ½ mile from start) and a long, steady hill towards the end of the 4.7 mile course. There are many speed bumps along the way. Proceed with caution. Perona Rd. (1.5 miles) is paved, but very bumpy. There is a long downhill towards the end of Perona Rd. Proceed with caution.
Andover-Mohawk Road/County Route 613 (0.83 of a mile), Andover Road/County Route 517 (1.6 miles) and Sparta Avenue/State Route 181 (1.83 miles) are all two lane roads with small hills, but mostly flat.
Course and mile markers will be placed throughout the entire bike course.
RUN: Runners will exit the transition area and turn right onto West Shore Trail towards the center of Lake Mohawk's White Deer Plaza and then turn right onto East Shore Trail/County Route 613. Runners will go approximately 1.5 miles down East Shore Trail to turn around, and head back on East Shore Trail/County Route 613 to the center of Lake Mohawk's White Deer Plaza to the finish line. Water will be available on the run course only. No headphones, earphones, or radio-type devices are allowed. Timing mats will be placed on at the run out section of the transition area. Athletes must cross over the timing mats to ensure accurate race times for the run segment.
Run Course Conditions:
East Shore Trail is a residential road with several homes on both sides of the road, and will not be closed to residents that must travel to/from their home during the event. Signage and race volunteers will be on course to help direct any traffic, but please remain alert to your surroundings, and proceed with caution at all times.

Celebrate the Midsummer Festival in historic Old Lyme Village with this family friendly event benefitting the Lymes' Youth Service Bureau (LYSB).The Midsummer 5K Run features a scenic road race, a 5K Run & Walk, and a Kids K. The race will begin at LYSB located at 59 Lyme Street and wind through the beautiful streets of the village. The race is held on the morning of the renowned Old Lyme Midsummer Festival, kicking off a weekend of cultural, artistic and community events at multiple sites throughout Old Lyme’s Historic District.
Pricing for the 5K (run and walk) is $30 for adults, $15 for youth (18 and under). Registration for the "Kids K" fun run is $10. Chip timing will be provided by Fast Track Timing for 5K runners. Commemorative T-Shirts will be available for the first 200 registered participants. Finisher medals for all.
The overall top three men and women will be recognized as well as the top age group winner in the men and women divisions. Divisions will be broken down as follows: Youth 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
