Unite to Fight!
Childhood Hunger 5K Run/Walk
Join Filling in the Blanks on August 23, 2026, at the Eighth Annual Unite to Fight 5K. The race will take place at Mill River Park located in Stamford,
CT.
In Fairfield County, more than 33,000 children are not sure where their next meal will come from. Most will get breakfast and lunch from school every weekday, but many will go from Friday lunch until Monday at breakfast without a decent meal. Founded in 2013, Filling in the Blanks is an organization that fills in those weekend gaps by providing each child in its program with a bag filled with healthy, easy-to-prepare food for the weekend. When the obstacle of food insecurity is removed, children experience increased academic achievement in school and greater opportunities for success in their lives. FITB continuously serves 10,000+ kids at over 200 sites throughout Fairfield, Westchester, and Putnam counties. FITB has also established four in-school pantries and in 2023 launched the Fresh Food On The Move mobile pantry that provides families with fresh produce, veggies, proteins and other staples, as well as health and wellness services.
With your race registration, you will receive a Unite to Fight T-shirt.
*T-shirts are based on availability if registering after July 17, 2026.

Gabby Petito Foundation Second Annual 5K Run & Walk
📍 Blue Point, NY | 📅 September 19, 2026
Join us for the Second Annual Angel Run 5K, hosted by the Gabby Petito Foundation, as we come together on
the fifth anniversary of Gabby’s homecoming to honor her life, her light, and her legacy. This powerful event serves as both a remembrance of Gabby’s spirit and a call to action — uniting communities to raise awareness, offer hope, and drive change.
The Angel Run 5K is more than just a race — it’s a movement. A celebration of bravery, strength, and resilience, the event supports the Gabby Petito Foundation’s mission to help victims of domestic violence and to provide critical resources for locating missing persons. Whether you run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines, your participation makes a difference.
All proceeds will go directly toward the foundation’s work in prevention, education, and support for families and individuals in need.
Let’s run for Gabby. Let’s run for those still searching for safety and home. Let’s run with purpose — and never stop raising our voices.
Together, we can bring them home.
Every step we take is a step toward education, prevention, and support for those affected by domestic violence. Proceeds from the event will directly fund the Gabby Petito Foundation’s mission to provide resources, education, and advocacy to keep others safe.
Following the race, join us for a celebration at Bodhi's, where we’ll gather as a community to honor Gabby’s memory, support survivors, and spread a message of hope and resilience.
Let’s run, walk, and stand together to make a difference.

We are so excited to welcome you to the 2026 running of the Grasshopper Kids Race!
We are going to be racing on TRAILS so make sure your child's bike can handle that. No push bikes or training wheels
please!
We will be on 0.3 mile well marked loop that will partially be on the rail trail, but mostly dip down into the trails. There are some roots on the trails and some ruts in the ground, but should be rideable / moveable by all ages!
If you would like to be near your child in case they get stuck you are welcome to but PLEASE DO NOT INTERFERE WITH OTHER RIDERS!
We will have a mechanic on site to check EVERY bike before it goes out. Please note that he is NOT there to repair your child's bike, but is there to make sure your child's bike is safe to ride!
Please reach out with any questions!

New to bike racing?: Hydra Cross is a great event to try out bike racing or cyclocross for the first time. There is a free intro to cyclocross racing clinic at 8:00 am on race day that is taught by local, friendly bike racers. Learn the basics to help you enjoy your race. Beginner races following shortly after -- novice men should sign up for the 9:00 am category 4 and beginner race and novice women should sign up for the 11:00 am women's category 4 and 5 race. Just a note on lingo, brand-new racers and novices start as 'category 5' racers. Since we are a USA Cycling sanctioned race, you will need a license but can purchase one when you register at http://bikereg.com/hydracross for $15. If you have any questions about the clinic or racing, please just shoot us an email at [email protected] and we'll respond with what you need.
Course Description: A fun, fast, twisty course that is primarily flat but has some surprising uphill kickers. After a slightly uphill, wide start from the "Legion Shelf," the course heads towards Holyoke's "Muscle Beach" and the hilly southern end of the park. The course design takes full advantage of the elevation to make riders work–but then also brings rewards with a swooping downhill that cuts back and forth across the hill. We have some stinging off-camber sections that will require your skills, with the most challenging and decisive sector coming at the end of the course (see Youtube videos below for a preview). The course runs the full length of the long, linear park with ample opportunities for spectating, with continuous announcing throughout the race by the voice of NCC Hydra Cross 2025, Jake Kravitz. Mountain and river views abound.
Equipment Recommendation: File treads (if dry) and all-around tires will work well for most riders. The course is a mix of grass, dirt, and some pavement. New to cyclocross? Mountain bikes, in any shape, work fine for getting started racing. Road or touring bikes that allow for 32mm tires also work fine.
Race Atmosphere: Come for the race, stay for the atmosphere. Our beer garden and picnic area are family-friendly. There is a playground, splash pad, and popular skate park as well. Our race is known for its good vibes and community-driven feel.
The excellent Thai Chili Street Food Hub will be serving food in the American Legion Parking lot at lunch time. As usual, expect the American Legion to be serving up coffee, breakfast items, beer and alcohol throughout the day, in addition to lunch and snack items.
Thai Chili Food Truck, 100 State St Stockhouse 122, Ludlow, MA, United States, Massachusetts 01056, 24 April
Want to do a second race? Great, the second race is just $15, just register for two races at the same time when you sign up.

We need folks to stick around and help us tear down the course immediately after the last race--if you stay to tear down the course, dinner from Pizza d'Action (Holyoke's best, with ample vegan and vegetarian pizzas) will be provided for you on-site while the last race is in progress so that you can stay and help with a full stomach.
