This is RACE #1in the TKC Open Water Summer Swim Series: TRIPLE CROWN! Cedar Island is race #2 and the September Point to Point is race #3. in the series. Triple Crown Swimmers who register for all three swims will get a TC Award. All three swim times are combined for everyone and the top 5 male and female overall with the low net score will get an additional overall prize.
This is a perfect training swim for participants who are registered for Cedar Island 5K Swim on August 25th! It is a point to point 1.2 mile bay training swim with the current on the back half of the Cedar Island 5K Swim course. This is an event to familiarize you with the end of the course surroundings and key site locations on it, the current, and open water swimming in a group. The Cedar Island 5K Swim can be a little overwhelming with 300 swimmers. This practice swim with a smaller group of 150 swimmers will give you the confidence for a safe and successful race for both events. Athletes receive a swim cap, chip timing, Finisher's Towel, and an event comfy LIVE AND TELL HOODIE! I promise that you will love them! The hoodies have already been purchased, and are available first come first served on selecting your size. Don't wait to sign up, as sizes are limited and we SOLD OUT early for last year's event. L & T light weight Long Sleeved Tees are available as an add on in the store for
a $25 donation.
PICK UP WILL AGAIN BE AT SURFSIDE PARK 2901 Avalon Avenue on the stage from 5:30am-7:10am.
(PARKING AT THE AVALON YACHT CLUB FOR VOLUNTEERS ONLY). There is a shuttle that leaves from the park and takes you to the swim start at the 5th Avenue Pubic Dock and 20th Street. We will have a bag drop at the park for anything that you would like transported to the AYC for post swim. Please no valuables in bags.There will be a shuttle to take you back to your cars parked at the Surfside Park/Community Hall.
A bib list will be emailed/texted (if you sign up for the alert) Friday, July 10th. KNOW YOUR BIB NUMBER so we can get everyone in an and out quickly from pick up. PRO TIP, please self body mark your bib number on your left hand prior to arriving and check in.
SWIM TEMPERATURE will be determined as we get closer to race day! You may wear a swim buoy!
We will have TWO SHUTTLES to the swim start. NO GEAR BAGS on the shuttle to the race start. Only take what you need for your swim! Shuttle has 15 people per trip. (Swimmers only) and runs every 10 minutes starting at 5:45am. Last ride is 7:10am. Do not plan on this last minute shuttle. How else can I get to the swim start if I do not want to ride the shuttle? You can have someone drop you at 20th Street and 5th Avenue public dock after you check in and pick up. The other option is walk (or run) to the swim start. It is ab out 1.5 miles. Starting at the hall, head west down 30th Street until Ocean drive.Turn right and go down 1/2 mile and turn left at the 21st Street light and go over the bridge, stay on 21st Street until you get to 5th Avenue, turn right and go one block, the public dock will be straight in front of you. There is some parking down in this area if you choose to get dropped off there and have your friends/family watch you start the race. They can follow you along Ocean
Drive but they cannot park at the AYC to see you finish. They may park near there and walk onto the grounds to see you finish.
**DO NOT GATHER ON THE SWIM START DOCK UNTIL 7:20AM. Volunteers will be there with their SUP and kayaks preparing to get on the water for your safety during the swim. Once the dock is cleared, you will self seed by your expected finish times, fastest times on deck on the dock and followed by the times in sequential order. *10:55PM Seeding Swim Times on the dock : Under 25 Minutes, 26-30 Minutes, 31-39, 40-45 Minutes, 45 plus Minutes. The back bay is nice and wide along the entire course. There is a a mandatory 60 minute time limit to finish the swim.
You will walk down the 5 stairs (all the stairs are out of the water) to the fixed dock below, which is also out of the water. Swim time will start once you cross the timing mat just prior to entering the water thru the posts of the ladder. You may jump or dive into the water. Head out from the dock/cove into the open bay, making sure to clear the docks on your right hand side. Turn right and SWIM DOCK SIDE on the right side of the bay side along 20th Street to Ocean Drive where you will make a LEFT TURN around the BUOY on the course. It is a straight line along Ocean Drive which becomes a slight left turn once you reach 7th Street. THERE IS A NEW BUOY DEEP IN THE 7TH STREET/OCEAN DSRIVE CORNER THAT YOU MUST TURN LEFT AROUND IT. No cutting the course close to the marsh. Follow along 7th Street until you get to the end and arrive at the Avalon Yacht Club for the finish.
THERE IS NO GUARDED WARM UP SWIM!! Participants will remain on the dock and then down the sidewalk. Things will move quickly so be prepared and ready to swim. Swimmers will be counted in and cross a timing mat at 11:00 AM sharp. Swimmers will SELF SEED according to swim time/bib number when entering the water. It will be time trial start seeding the faster swimmers first. There is a 60 minute cut off time to complete the swim and finish at the Avalon Yacht Club which starts when you enter the water so do not worry if your are near the end of the start! Swimmers will exit by a swim ladder located on the end of the large floating dock at AYC. There will be a buoy marking the dock/finish line. You do not have to round this buoy. It is recommended to keep your own time if possible to confirm times. Please be respectful and keep your order upon exit or waiting to climb one of the three the ladders. YOU MUST REMOVE YOUR OWN TIMING CHIP ONCE YOU HAVE EXITED UP THE RAMP AT AYC and you will then
receive your custom event finisher's towel.
Dropped bags will be in a drop bag zone for you to pick up after you finish at the AYC. AWARDS are at the AYC approximately 8:15am (or whenever the last swimmer finishes the swim.) Top 5 overall male and female, masters, and grand masters, plus youngest and oldest! Nemos Pizza, Kohlers Bakery cream donuts, and Sundae Best water ice post swim!
Shuttles will run back to the Community Hall from 8:15am-9:15pm.
Proceeds go to the Avalon Fire Rescue Water Safety Team. Without both of their support, we would not be able to have our swims. Thank you for joining us for the charity event!

Stone Harbor is located 30 miles south of Atlantic City. Take Garden State Parkway to Exit 10(Stone Harbor) and go 2.5 miles on Stone Harbor Blvd traveling over bridge onto 96th Street. At the first light take a LEFT onto 3rd Ave. Take a LEFT onto 89th Street and Stone Harbor Yacht Club is 1/4 mile ahead.
Note on PARKING:
It is advised to arrive early for parking on adjacent streets. Additional parking is available at Municipal Pier/ Marina on 81st and the BAY.

The race will be started at 11:00 AM, rain or shine, on Saturday, July 18th, 2026. An electrical storm or dangerous surf conditions will necessitate resetting the start time until later in the day. If conditions do not improve, the swim will be cancelled. Weather cancellations will be announced on the home page of the beach patrol's website. Additionally, an announcement will be made on the beach patrol's Facebook (Sea Isle City Beach Patrol) and Instagram (@SICBP44) accounts.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION AND RACE PACKET PICK-UP
Race day Saturday, between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM at Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Headquarters - 44th Street and Promenade. Please allow additional driving time for the increase of traffic on the weekend.
RACE FEATURES
Chip timing.
Wet suits are permitted regardless of the water's temperature.
The start of the race will be in two waves; one male, one female and non-binary.
Public parking available at: 300 JFK Boulevard, 125 JFK Boulevard, 4501 Park Avenue, and 4416 Landis Avenue. All locations are in Sea Isle City, NJ 08243
Bus transportation to the start of race is available at 10:00, 10:20, and 10:40 AM.
Transportation of gear from start to finish line.
Refreshments at the finish line.
Bathrooms facilities available at registration and finish of race.
Compuscore Computer Services will provide race results. Complete overall order of finish will be available on their website - www.compuscore.com.
Due to the fact that all lifeguards need to be at their stations by 12:30 PM, a time cap of one hour and thirty minutes is necessary.
AWARDS
High quality heavyweight, multi color print T-shirts to the first 250 online registrants. Shirts not claimed by pre-registrants at race packet pick-up will be distributed to race volunteers.
There will be male and female divisions for the following categories:
Trophies first through fifth place finishers.
Trophies to first and second place winners of the following age groups: (14 and under), (15-18), (19-25), (26-35), (36-45), (46-55), (56-65), (66 and over).
No duplication of awards. The top five finishers in the male and female divisions are not eligible for age group trophies.
First and second place team plaques and individual medals will be awarded to each scoring member of a team:
Team affiliation can be any of the following: swim club, beach patrol, high school or college.
Awards ceremony will be held at the beach patrol headquarters, 44th Street and Boardwalk, at 12:00 noon. The beach patrol does not mail trophies, medals or plaques to individuals who are not able to stay for the awards ceremony.
TEAMS
The number of entries allowed per team is unlimited. All members must complete their own registration form. The first four swimmers across the finish line will score. To represent a particular beach patrol a swimmer must have, in the current year, worked 20 days prior to race day for the patrol being represented.
True team scoring, also known as cross country scoring, is the method of scoring that will be applied to determine winners.
SAFETY
Sea Isle City Beach Patrol reserves the right to remove swimmers from the course due to unsafe conditions, the excess duration of the race, or if the contestant is believed to be at risk.

Directions to Headquarters - Take the Garden State Parkway south to Exit 17. If you are traveling north on the Parkway, there is no Exit 17. One needs to double back using the Seaville Service Station parking lot at mile marker 18. At the bottom of exit ramp, bear right onto Route 625. After crossing the bay bridge you are on John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Continue on John F. Kennedy Boulevard across Landis Avenue and turn Right onto Pleasure Avenue. Drive to 44th Street. The patrol's headquarters and registration are located on the promenade at 44th Street.
From Pennsylvania and points west take Route 42 or 73 to the Atlantic City Expressway east. Exit the Expressway at 7S, Garden State Parkway south. Then follow the above directions for the New Jersey area.
From New York and points north take the New Jersey Turnpike south to Exit 11, Garden State Parkway south. Then follow the above directions for the New Jersey area.
From Delaware and points south take Route 40 east to Mays Landing, take Route 50 south to Seaville, take Route 9 south to the Sea Isle City turn off, make a left onto Route 625. Then follow the above directions for the New Jersey area.

New to open water ocean swimming? THE MURRAY HALF mile option has just been added to the line up! 1/2 of the Murray Mile, easy peasy!
REGISTRATION CLOSES JULY 18th AT 5:30PM. Have you ever watched the county lifeguards at their ocean swim competitions over the years and dreamed of having the chance to swim the same race course? Now is your chance!! The first ever lifeguard ocean course will now be open to the public to race in Avalon, and for that matter, all of South Jersey! Just like the lifeguards, you will swim the flags straight out into the ocean and back. Yup, you heard that right. The start and finish will be the same place, approximately 35th Street and the beach. Saturday night at 6:30pm. I bet you can just feel the excitement already for a running beach start.
It was an easy decision to name this new, epic event to honor our Avalon Beach Patrol captain of 65 years, Captain Murray Wolf. A new tradition continues, hopefully for many many years. Proceeds will be going to the Avalon Beach Patrol Alumni Association. You can count on many current and former guards from ABP and the county to be in the mix for this swim.
ONLINE REGISTRATION ONLY. NO IN PERSON SIGN UPS. Entry fee includes a branded custom swim cap, chip timing, and a premium event branded FLEECE HOODIE to the first 100 registered for either swim.
Wetsuits are permitted, but in true lifeguard races, those wearing wetsuits are not eligible for awards. Current ocean temperature will be posted race week.

We are thrilled with the enthusiasm and incredible support for our must do open water charity swim in the Avalon back bays! We are celebrating 17 years of swimming around Cedar Island this year. The World Open Water Swimming Association named the Cedar Island 5K Swim as One of America's Top Open Water Swims. This is a list of the most unique, most popular, most historic, most beautiful, most interesting, and most challenging open water swims across the 50 states of the United States of America. Following criteria is used to determine the list of open water swims.

The course is designed to be going with the tide for the beginning and the end of the event! All proceeds from the race will be going to the SNEAKERS FOR SOLDIERS. Athletes receive an XTERRA mesh backpack, choice of a unisex or female style tee shirt, custom event Defeet socks, event swim cap, chip timing, and a custom event finisher towel. RACE DAY: Packet pick up is 7:45 am-9:15 am at AYC. THERE IS NO PARKING AT ALL WHAT SO EVER AT THE AVALON YACHT CLUB. Parking in only available at the AYC for ON WATER SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS with their kayaks and SUPs. There is plenty of street parking along 6th, 7th, and 8th Streets, Ocean Drive, and Dune Drive. (There are bathrooms in that building!) It is a short walk to the club but we also have 2 JITNEY SHUTTLES floating all these areas to pick you up and drop you off to packet pick up. 4 Port O Pots will be available (2 blue for guys, 2 pink for gals) at the AYC in the back rear, right side of the parking lot.
Check in is at the Avalon Yacht Club. A bib list will be sent a few days prior to the race. Please know your number. You can SELF MARK YOUR LEFT HAND WITH YOUR BIB NUMBER PRIOR to your arrival at pick up. This will help us get everyone in and out quickly at pick up. You bib number will be confirmed along with your ICE contact information. You will then get tour athlete bag with everything you need in it. Your custom athlete bag will contain your event swim cap, timing chip and strap to be worn on either ankle, IT IS MANDATORY TO WEAR THE EVENT SWIM CAP provided in your bag. Also, in your bag is your event tee shirt and custom Defeet socks.
The 5K swim starts and finishes at Avalon Yacht Club. We are going back to our MASS IN WATER START at 9:40 am! Things will move very quickly so be ready to be called into the water over the timing mat. MANDATORY 90 minute cut off time that is strictly enforced and if not met, you will be pulled from the course. All swimmers need to be done by 11:10 AM. Water temperature is typically mid 70s and wetsuit legal.
*DO NOT GATHER AT THE SWIM START DOCK UNTIL 9:30 am. Volunteers will be there with their SUP and kayaks preparing to get on the water for your safety during the swim. They will have an 9:20 am volunteer safety meeting on the dock at the start/finish line.
You may enter the bay for warm up. It is unguarded prior to the race start. You must be out of the water by 9:15 AM.

9:30 AM Swimmers will be counted in and cross a timing mat. There is a 90 minute cut off time to complete the swim and finish at the Avalon Yacht Club.
This is a counter clockwise course. The back bay is nice and wide along the entire course. On water safety patrol will be there to guide you, especially to help you round the buoys. SITE and know your surroundings. You will swim out to a WHITE NO WAKE BUOY, then turn left and stay MARSH SIDE for the open inter coastal water way. Once you are on the back bay, you will then swim on the right side of the bay/DOCK SIDE, round the three ORANGE buoys in each corner, keeping them on your left shoulder. You do NOT HAVE TO ROUND THE BUOY at the finish line. Go straight line into the exit ladder on the dock. Swimmers will exit by a swim ladder located on the end of the large floating dock at AYC. YOU MUST REMOVE YOUR OWN TIMING CHIP ONCE YOU HAVE EXITED UP THE RAMP AT AYC. It is recommended to keep your own time if possible to confirm times. This is a charity swim so please be respectful and keep your order upon exit or waiting to climb the ladder.
All four buoys you will round LEFT. You must go around all buoys!

This is the 2nd race of the TKC Open Water Summer Swim Series: the TRIPLE CROWN! Race #1 is the 1.2 Mile Bay Swim on July 11th and we round out the series on September 12th with the 1.2 mile Point to Point Bay Swim. Race all three events and get a Triple Crown Award. We will combine everyones times from all three races. Top 5 male and female overall with the lowest net times will get a special award and we will crown a grand champion for 2025.

SWIM START IS 10:00AM. A point to point 1.2 Mile Bay Swim that is a TIME TRIAL START format based on your estimated swim time.. FASTEST swimmers will enter the water first and they will self seed accordingly to your estimated finish time and where you feel most comfortable. The swim course is on the back half of the Cedar Island 5K Swim. This is a great event to familiarize yourself with open water swimming with a group in a protected bay, the surroundings and key site locations on it. Our goal is to provide an opportunity that will give you the confidence for safe and successful swimming events. it feels like an epic training group swim with your friends! Swim buoys are allowed during the event. It is typically wetsuit legal.
The September SWIM START is at the 23rd Street Public Dock on Ocean Drive. From the AYC you exit the club and go to the end of 7th Street and Ocean Drive. Turn right and head south down Ocean Drive until you get to the 23rd Street on the right. We are entering the water at high tide, so you can expect a little push from the current at the end! NEW BUOY THIS YEAR TO ROUND at 7th Street and Ocean Drive corner.
Athletes will receive the following items: custom event branded swim cap, chip timing, and an amazing, comfortable, warm, premium Live and Tell HOODIE!! Yes, you read that right. A top notch pull over hooded sweatshirt is the give away. If you want another tee shirt, you will have to get it at another event. Wait..there's more! You also get a custom Finish Line towel! Score a tri blend long sleeved tee for a $25 donation. We are a non profit organization and 100% of our proceeds and your donations go to charity.
8:00-9:30AM: Check in at the Avalon Yacht Club. (704 7th Street) There is NO PARKING at the AYC. Parking is available only for volunteers on the far right side lot. There is free parking in Avalon noon all streets. The jitneys will be circling the surrounding areas: 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th Streets, Ocean Drive, and Dune Drive bring you to packet pick up. They will then be shuttling swimmers to the swim start dock: 23rd Street and Ocean Drive.
A bib list will be emailed September 19th. Please self body mark your number on your left hand clearly and visible prior to arriving and check in at the AYC. We can also body mark on site. Emergency contact information will be checked prior to picking up your race gear. We have a key and gear drop on site to leave for your post swim needs.
WE WILL HAVE A COMPLIMENTARY SHUTTLE running every 15 minutes, starting at 8:15am until 9:30am. Plan your pick up time accordingly to your swim start time. How do I get to the swim start if I do not want to take the shuttle? Have someone drop you at 23rd Street dock after you check in and pick up. The other option is walk (or run) to the swim start. Participants will remain on the 23rd Street area prior to be called to the dock staging area. Things will move quickly so be prepared to jump in the bay. Swimmers will self seed according to swim time when entering the water, seeding the faster swimmers. Do not worry if you are at the end, your time starts once you cross the timing mat prior to entering the water. There is a 60 minute cut off time to complete the swim and finish at the Avalon Yacht Club. Swimmers will exit by swim ladders located on the end of the large floating dock at AYC. There is a big and bright red finish flag on the end of the dock and visible a few 100 meters away.
YOU MUST REMOVE YOUR OWN TIMING CHIP ONCE YOU HAVE EXITED UP THE RAMP AT AYC. It is recommended to keep your own time if possible to confirm times. Please be respectful and keep your order upon exit or waiting to climb the ladders.
*DO NOT GATHER AT THE SWIM START DOCK AFTER PICK UP UNTIL 8:45AM. There is no guarded warm up swim. Volunteers will be there with their SUP and kayaks preparing to get on the water for your safety during the swim. Once the dock is cleared, you will self seed by your expected finish times, fastest times on deck on the dock and followed by the times in sequential order.
*9:45AM Seeding Swim Times on the dock : Under 25 Minutes, 26-30 Minutes, 31-39, 40-45 Minutes, 45 plus Minutes. The back bay is nice and wide along the entire course. BE AWARE of conditions on both sides of you. On water safety patrol will be there to guide you under the middle of the 21st Street bridge. BE AWARE of the pilings on both sides of you, as well as potential swimmers next to you. SITE and know your surroundings. DO NOT swim or make other swimmers go into the bridge pilings!! Stay in the middle, there will be room for everyone with the proper seeding times. Once you pass under the bridge you will then swim on the right side of the bay/dock side. Be aware of other potential on water activity besides other swimmers in the event.
We will have awards for the top 5 overall male and female finishers, masters, and grandmasters, youngest and oldest swimmer. NO age group awards. Thank you for joining us for our final open water swim event! Can the summer really be over?
Complimentary shuttles will be running from 11:00-12:00am post swim to bring you back to your cars.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE A PARTICIPATION CAP OF 175 SWIMMERS. WE ONLY HAVE 175 HOODIES. IF YOU WANT A PARTICULAR SIZE THAT FITS YOU PERFECTLY, SIGN UP EARLY BEFORE THEY ARE GONE.

Come join us for Race #3 in our final event of the TKC open water Summer Swim Series: TRIPLE CROWN. Race #1 is the 1.2 Mile Bay Swim in July and Race #2 is Cedar Island 5K Swim in August. Everyone that completes all three races gets a Triple Crown Award! All finish times will be combined for the three events for everyone and the top 5 male and female low net scores will win an additional prize and we will crown an overall Open Water Summer Swim Series Champion.
