The MT Alpha Race Team is open to riders of all bike disciplines: mountain, gravel, road, cyclocross, enduro, and anyone excited about pinning on a number. Our goal is to create a supportive, inclusive environment where women and non-binary riders can challenge themselves, grow their skills, and show up confidently on start lines across the region.

Whether it’s your first race season or your fifteenth, you belong here.

What We Ask From Race Team Members

To keep our community strong, connected, and moving forward together, team members commit to:

    1. Racing a minimum of five race days throughout the season (any discipline)

    2. Volunteering at least twice during the year

    3. One of these volunteer events will likely be a local music event fundraiser (details coming soon)

    4. Maintaining at least a Basic MT Alpha membership

These commitments help us build visibility in the community, support the club’s programming, and ensure we can continue empowering riders of all levels.

    What Race Team Members Receive

As part of the MT Alpha Race Team, you’ll enjoy a variety of perks designed to support your training, racing, and community involvement:

    • Discount on Skratch nutrition products

    • Free or discounted team jersey

    • Team support at key races (based on the race team schedule)

    • $200 off a bike fit with Ascend Sports Medicine during the winter months

    • Monthly team rides (1 minimum during the season April - September), plus skills and training opportunities

    • The chance to serve as a leader and mentor for riders who are new, “race curious,” or just building confidence

    • The satisfaction of knowing that more women+ and non-binary athletes will be on start lines in 2026 because of your presence and example

    Why Join the Race Team?

Beyond the perks, the MT Alpha Race Team is about showing up for yourself and for each other. We’re here to make racing more accessible, more fun, and more welcoming — because the more representation we have at start lines, the more the cycling community grows and changes for the better.

If you’re ready to ride up to a start line, support your teammates, and help shape the next generation of riders, we’d love to have you on the team.

Adventure Cycling Association is celebrating 50 years of bicycle travel in 2026. To mark this milestone, we invite you to join the 50TH ANNIVERSARY DROP-IN RIDES, a celebration across three legendary routes.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE DROP-IN RIDES?

Drop-In Rides are part of Adventure Cycling’s 50th Anniversary. Just as Bikecentennial ’76 sparked a movement 50 years ago, these rides celebrate where we started, what we’ve accomplished, and where we’re going—inviting riders everywhere to share in the adventure.

    THE ROUTES

TRANSAMERICA TRAIL – The original Bikecentennial ’76 route that launched Adventure Cycling. Nearly 4,200 miles from Oregon to Virginia, it passes through small towns, farmland, the Rockies, and Appalachians. Dropping in here connects you with the history of cross-country cycling.

GREAT DIVIDE MOUNTAIN BIKE ROUTE – Since 1998, the world’s premier off-pavement route. Over 2,700 miles of gravel, dirt, and rugged mountain passes from Montana to New Mexico. A true test of endurance and adventure, inspiring riders worldwide.

GOLDEN GRAVEL TRAIL – Created for our 50th Anniversary, debuting in 2026. A mixed-surface journey across plains, canyons, and mountains, designed to showcase America’s growing gravel culture and the future of bicycle travel.

WHERE CAN I LEARN MORE ABOUT THE ROUTES?

Visit our route overview pages to see descriptions, maps, and details to help you choose the ride that fits your goals:

    • Great Divide Mountain Bike Route overview

    • TransAmerica Trail overview

    • Golden Gravel Trail overview (launching early 2026)

HOW DO I GET MY ROUTE AND NAVIGATE IT?

Adventure Cycling offers both paper maps and digital maps for purchase:

    • TransAmerica Trail Maps

    • Great Divide Maps

These maps include turn-by-turn directions, service listings, and detailed navigation notes. Once downloaded, digital maps can be used offline on your GPS device or phone.

Golden Gravel Trail Maps – This brand-new 50th Anniversary route will be free to download starting early 2026.

For more information about digital maps, visit our Digital Routes FAQ.

HOW CAN I FIND A GROUP TO RIDE WITH?

Check out our Companions Wanted listings to connect with others planning to ride.

Adventure Cycling members can post on Companions Wanted (become a member, just $2.50/month), while anyone can respond to a post. Drop-In Rides have a dedicated section in Companions Wanted in celebration of our 50th Anniversary.
