Welcome to the 2026 Copper Harbor Big Boy Clinic!
Please note: The information below is preliminary and based on last year’s clinic. This page will be updated as more details come together for 2026. Keep an eye out on our website and socials for updates throughout the winter as we pin down the exact details and open registration!
- Registration for Big Boy 2026 will open February 2, 2026 at 7 PM -
Picture this: tearing down the trails with a crew of fellow riders, exchanging high-fives, and pushing each other to conquer new obstacles. Whether you're a seasoned shredder or just starting your mountain bike journey, the Copper Harbor Big Boy Clinic is designed to meet you right where you are and help you reach new heights. If you identify as a man and love hitting the trails on your mountain bike, this clinic is the perfect fit for you! Gear up for an unforgettable weekend of growth and adventure, and get ready to soak up knowledge from the best coaches around.
The clinic is anticipated to begin the morning of Friday, June 5th, and finish the afternoon of Sunday, June 7th, 2026. Each day will include a combination of drills and skill-building sessions, trail riding to reinforce those drills, and free ride time with the coaches in a more relaxed, free-form atmosphere. Riders will be grouped in clusters of approximately 7–9 participants with at least two coaches per group (one head coach and one assistant). Coaches will rotate through groups throughout the weekend so you get a variety of perspectives and teaching styles.
On Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to choose which coach you ride with for more focused training in a variety of areas—from jumps and drops to climbing and more. We’ll also have clinic photographers on site, so dress to impress—you never know when your image might be chosen for a billboard, poster, or even this page’s cover shot!
Cost
Estimated cost for the clinic is $440. This includes 2.5 days of instruction with some of the best coaches in the business, lunches and snacks each day, coffee and breakfast bakery one morning, bonus evening hangouts with coaches, swag, and limited shuttles at East Bluff on Saturday. A portion of the proceeds supports the Copper Harbor Trails, helping make our ride center even better for your next visit.
Lodging
Our lodging sponsor is the Bella Vista Motel. Please book your stay there and let them know you are part of the clinic to receive spring season rates. Bella Vista will also donate $15 per room night booked by clinic participants. Staying there is a great way to support the Copper Harbor Trails Club! Other great lodging options can be found here.
Bike Gear
You’ll need a bike capable of handling singletrack mountain bike trails and a helmet. Pads are never a bad idea, but they are not required. If you’re deciding on pedals, flat pedals are recommended, as they help advance skills faster than clipless (and make repeated sessioning quicker and easier).
Full-suspension bikes will be more comfortable, but if all you have is a hardtail, don’t feel like you need to upgrade to participate. Any bike from the past several years with front suspension will be more than sufficient. One of the most important upgrades you can make is a dropper post—it significantly improves downhill transitions, stability, and overall comfort. At minimum, a quick-release adjustable seat post is required. Don’t be the guy who needs five minutes before every hill to adjust your seat—we will leave you behind.
E-Bikes
We welcome Class 1 e-bikes into the clinic! Whether you need an e-bike to get around or just want to save your legs some strain, feel free to bring one. Depending on the number and skill level of e-bike participants, we may form dedicated e-bike groups. Otherwise, you may be placed in a mixed group and will need to ride at the group’s pace. All skill levels of e-bike riders are welcome—reach out if you have questions.
Weather
Watch the forecast and be prepared—we ride rain or shine. In 2018, the weekend ended with the historic Father’s Day flood that dropped 5–7 inches of rain across the Keweenaw in just hours. The trails were very wet, but we rode on. Our trails are sustainably built on rock and never close.
Refund Policy
If you must back out of the clinic, a flat $50 processing fee will apply. Refunds will be issued as follows:
100% of the remaining balance if 45 or more days before the clinic
70% of the remaining balance if between 45 and 30 days before the clinic
50% of the remaining balance if between 30 and 15 days before the clinic
No refunds within 14 days of the clinic
Transfers to friends or family members are free—provide a replacement and receive a full refund.

Welcome to the 2026 Copper Harbor Women's Weekend Clinic!
Registration for this Clinic will open March 2nd, 2026.
A weekend of learning, camaraderie, and above all else, FUN! The Copper Harbor Women's Weekend brings together fantastic coaches and eager riders for one of the premier women's clinics in the Midwest. Not only do you get to ride the awesome trails in and around Copper Harbor, but you also get to do so with some seriously high-powered professional coaching talent. We'll show you how it's done in a women-focused learning environment. No jocks, hotshots, show-offs, or mansplainers here! Just women teaching women how it's done, one incredible weekend at a time.
The Women's Weekend Clinic begins the morning of Friday, July 24th, and finishes the afternoon of Sunday, July 26th. The clinic is open to women of all shapes, sizes, colors, faiths, background, orientation, age (over 18), and skill level. If you identify yourself as a woman mountain bike rider, this clinic is for you! From those just getting started in the sport to folks who have been riding for years and need to work on a particular technique, our coaches will help take your riding to the next level. Participants will be assigned coaches depending on their skill level and interests. Some groups will focus on the basics to ensure you can get up and down the trail safely and efficiently, while others will take on more formidable obstacles that only Copper Harbor can offer. Throughout the weekend, everyone will get confidence-building how-tos from coaches who have been in your shoes and experienced the same challenges we all face on the trail. Friday is spent working on foundational
skills, including bike body separation and bike handling drills. This is often done in a grassy area or open space off-trail. These basic skills are then brought onto trail Saturday, where coaches often have you session on and off trail. Sunday, you'll have the chance to choose a special ride to focus on, including tackling the expert-level Red Trail or going for a scenic ride out on the Keweenaw Point Trail.
When you sign up for a bike clinic, you are signing up to work on your bike skills. We suggest adding a day or two to your trip to ride the trails, practice your new Copper Harbor skills, and get in all the miles you want!
Cost
Fee for the weekend of events is $440 which includes 2.5 days of skills, drills, and on-trail learning; lunches on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; coffee and bakery on Saturday morning from Jamsen's; evening education sessions on Friday and social on Saturday; shuttles at East Bluff on Saturday; CHWW trail swag; and priceless memories with new and old friends. Note: You are responsible for your own lodging, dinners, and breakfast on Sunday.
Bike Gear
What kind of bike should you bring? The bike you're most comfortable with! Just about any decent bike with front suspension from the past several years will be more than enough to take on the vast majority of the Copper Harbor trails. Your hardtail will do just fine for most activities. Full suspension bikes are a bonus but not required - don't feel like you have to upgrade to attend. Helmets are a must! Pads are optional, but they never hurt if you've got 'em. If you are deciding on pedals, go flat, as this will help advance your skills faster.
Shuttles: Again, for 2026, shuttles will be available on Saturday at the East Bluff Bike Park. The shuttle is a big rig that every group will get to ride at least once, saving a trip up one of Copper Harbor's biggest hills. We won't be using the shuttles to crush loads of laps because we'll have 80+ participants, coaches, and photographers sharing one rig. Trips will be scheduled, and all groups will get a chance to ride.
E-Bikes: We welcome Class 1 E-bikes into the clinic! If you need an E-bike to get around or want to save your legs some strain, feel free to bring yours along. All skill levels of E-bike users are welcome. If you have the option to bring an analog bike in addition to your e-bike, that would be ideal. Skills are easier to practice and learn on a lighter bike. Friday is primarily spent off trail doing skills and drills; this would be the time to have a non-e-bike, if possible. Let us know if you have any questions!
Weather
Watch the weather and be prepared: we ride rain or shine. The Copper Harbor Trails don't shut down when it rains, nor will we. A little mud never hurts anyone! We ride rain or shine, hot or cold. Located next to chilly Lake Superior, we've had all types of weather for this event. The Copper Harbor Trails don't shut down when it rains, nor will we. A little mud never hurts anyone! Be sure to bring gear for rain, cool weather, and extreme heat.
Refund Policy
You'll be charged a flat $50 processing fee if you must back out of the clinic. You will then receive a refund based on the following schedule:
•100% of the remaining balance if 45 or more days before the clinic
•70% of the remaining balance if between 45 and 30 days before the clinic
•50% of the remaining balance if between 30 and 15 days before the clinic
•NO Refund within 14 days of the clinic. Cutting it too close!
As usual, transfers to friends or family members are free. If you find a replacement, you'll receive a full refund.

- Please Note our 2026 All You Can east Bluffet is still in the planning phase, but for now we know it will be taking place August 1st, 2026. Keep an eye out on our website and socials for updates throughout the winter as we pin down the exact details. Take a look at what we cooked up last year and see if you want to step into the kitchen in 2026!-
-Registration for this event will open May 14, 2026-
The All You Can East Bluffet, presented by Cross Country Sports, is a healthy sampling of the tastiest trails that East Bluff has to offer. With 6 and 12-hour options, this endurance enduro is meant to be a fun way to push your limits on the epic trails at East Bluff. You start by pedaling to the top, where you spin a wheel that will tell you what trail you
need to take down! We will have the expert class, which includes all the downhill trails, and the intermediate category, which includes only blue trails.
How it works:
● Start at the bottom of East Bluff (bottom of Flo-Rion, Dueling Banjos)
● Pedal to the top of East Bluff via the driveway
● Once at the top, play “spin the mountain bike wheel” for the random trail you (and maybe a few friends) have to take down!
● Punch a hole in your race plate to record this lap
● Have an absolute blast shredding down East Bluff!
● Check in with the race trackers at the bottom
● Repeat as many times as you can!
Trails
To climb up, you will take the East Bluff Driveway (for the brave-hearted, Magic Carpet is an option, too). But the important part is, of course, the downhill part! See the trail options below, and remember that the wheel determines which trail you ride down each lap.
Expert Class
The expert class has mandatory features, including rough roots and steep rock rolls.
● Thunderbolt to Citrus Tech
● Citrus Tech (full pull)
● Bermasaurus to Flo’Rion
● Loam Rider to Eh Horizon to Flo’Rion
● Flo’Rion (full pull)
● Whipsaw to Summer School
Intermediate Class
● Flo’Rion (full pull)
● Whipsaw to Summer School
● Bermasaurus to Flo’Rion
Teams
Cooperative Teams
In the Cooperative Teams category, it’s all about working together! Ride alongside your friends and push each other to crank out as many laps as possible. Your team’s score is based on the average number of laps per rider, so every lap counts, and so does helping your teammates succeed.
There’s no cap on team size (just a 2-person minimum), so rally your crew and get ready to ride. For this event, you register as an individual (do not select that you would "like to join or create a team" when registering); you will tell us your team on race day. Ensure your entire cooperative team is in the same event (6-hr or 12-hr, intermediate or expert).
Relay Teams
You can also sign up as a relay team (go to the Teams tab at the top of this page), with a team size of between 2 and 4 participants. The team with the greatest number of laps wins! Team members will swap race plates with one another. It does not have to be an even distribution between teammates, and one teammate can do multiple laps at a time. Remember, you’re not riding alongside your teammates—you’re taking turns swapping laps. For this event, you do select that you would "like to join or create a team" when registering.
Food!
Yeah, I know the event name has you thinking about food. We’ve got you (partially) covered, with scrumptious offerings courtesy of Fletchy’s Otter Belly Lodge, ready to go and warmed up right at the trailhead!
No bonking!! We’ll also have your favorite endurance snacks, consisting mainly of the food your mom didn’t let you have when you were a kid. Do not rely on our food to get you through the entire race, but we’ll have snacks to help stave off the bonk.
No E-Bikes!
This is an endurance event anyway, right? If there is a high demand for an e-bike category, let the organizers know, and we'll consider it next year.
Race Website
Additional race information can be found at www.copperharbortrails.org/bluffet
Safety
This is a challenging endurance event. If you are too tired to safely complete another lap, please consider stopping. We will have an ambulance there as well as multiple bike patrollers, but we hope to not need those services. If you start in the expert class and feel as if it is unsafe for you to keep going, you can drop down to the intermediate event. Make sure you tell the volunteers at the bottom that you have changed to the intermediate event.
Volunteering
Our event wouldn't be possible without amazing volunteers like you! Whether you're helping with check-in or tracking racers, every role makes a difference.

We wrap it up in the park downtown with music, tasty food, and beverages from local and regional brewers.
Sunday picks up where we left off with a rugged 10k Trail Run that will have you wondering if you should have worn hiking boots instead of running shoes. Later in the morning we send it with our Enduro race, split between Beginner, Sport, and Expert classes. Stick around for the music and food scene into the evening. It all culminates with the drawing of winners for our summer raffle and crowning of the King & Queen of the Mountain and Beast Mode Champions. Think you'll win big this year?
