The weather was perfect for the 2025 HC5K! Clear, crisp with little to no wind. The 2026 5K will be run on Sunday, February 15, with the hopes the weather will be chilly and clear. The rain/snow date is Sunday, March 1st just in case Mother Nature does not cooperate this year.

Our event is a family-friendly/dog-friendly race run during the doldrums of winter. We get you off the couch and out of the house for this fun run. Start and finish at the Kent Island Elementary School and the course takes you along the scenic Cross Island Trail.

So get out your running shoes and sweats and train for this fun 5K. And remember, there is Hot Chocolate at the finish of the run!

Packet Pickup will be Sunday morning, race day, opening at 7:30, in the cafeteria of the school! (Yes, we are back inside). There will be race day registration with no guarantee of receiving a premium. Awards ceremony will begin at 10:00 after the run. Awards for 1st place male, 1st place female, as well as age group awards. Dog treats for all dogs at the end. Age group winners must be present to receive their award.

We have added 5K walking only division this year - Top 3 male and female win awards

This race is a 100% charity event! This year, our selected beneficiary is the Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue and Education Center (https://www.facebook.com/esrrec). This event consists of three distances, 5K, 10K, and 15K, all of which have been certified by USA Track & Field. The 15K distance is part of the Maryland RRCA Grand Prix series of races. The three races all start together at the beautiful Terrapin Nature Park in Stevensville, Maryland and proceed out and back along the Cross-Island Trail on Kent Island. What better way to celebrate Earth Day and the pets we love on a Sunday morning.

We are committed to accelerating the development of a better and brighter tomorrow by alleviating the negative outcomes that are endured by those in need of assistance through robust partnership and collaboration. Each month we strive to be a helping hand in the community through kindness and compassion by offering monthly services assisting the community's needs. Each month is a different outreach average 300- 500 people in the community we help each month. Another fun and exciting event is the Prom boutique offering dresses and suits to our Seniors in highs School and others with formal events. Soon the yearly annual Christmas magic toy drive will be celebrating its 7th year. Our events are free to the

We are having this 5K race to help us fund future events and afford our space in Centerville that has a recent addition that houses our weekly Crisis Center helping an average of 40 community members weekly. Our goal for fundraising this year is to raise money to maintain our space in centerville.

The 5K race last year helped us to continue to expand our space that now houses the Crisis Center.
