Welcome to the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail Marathon & 50K, where you will experience some of Montgomery County's finest single-track trails. This is a challenging, but beautiful run for all!
The Seneca Creek Greenway Trail Marathon and 50K is a low-key, low-priced, and fun-filled event along the beautiful Seneca Creek Greenway Trail and parallel trails. Marathon and 50K participants will have the option to choose their final distance during the race (either stop at the finish line for the "marathon" or keep going to complete the 50K).
! DETOUR ALERT ! Due to the bridge on the Mink Hollow Trail being under reconstruction, there will be a detour on both the outbound and inbound course routes. Please refer to the map under the "Course & Logistics" tab for a map showing the detour. The trail, including the detour, will be marked on race day.
All participants will receive a custom race bib, short-sleeved tech shirt, and a finisher's medal!
Breeze Thru the Trees is a 5k cross country run winding through a lush tree nursery in Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve.
Proceeds from Breeze Thru the Trees will benefit the Montgomery County Children’s Opportunity Alliance, which is working to build an equitable, accessible, high-quality, and sustainable early childhood system that narrows disparities and puts all young children on a path to reach their greatest potential.
Grounded in collaboration and accountability for each other, the alliance convenes stakeholders across all sectors in order to forge a thriving, justice-based system at the county level. The Children's Opportunity Alliance believes that when the smallest among us flourish, we all experience well-being.
Please join us on March 22nd, 2026 for Breeze Thru the Trees, a 5k race and fun run held on Ruppert Nurseries’ 500 acre tree farm in Laytonsville, MD.
Kids on the Run and the Kids Marathon are non-competitive running events for children and young people age 17 and younger. Participants can choose from these four distances based on their age and ability: The event will feature 100m Toddler Trot, Half-Mile, One-Mile and 2K Kids Marathon events.
All events take place on the paved trails of Bohrer Park in the City of Gaithersburg. Participants do not run on roads. There is a ‘rabbit’ runner who will lead the participants in each event. There is also a ‘sweeper’ who follows behind for each event insuring everyone makes it back to the finish line. There are multiple opportunities to see and cheer for the youth runners!
Kids on the Run welcomes the following school groups:

Charity partnership
During registration, you will have an opportunity to support a local non-profit Interfaith Works. The goal of the charity partnership is to first and foremost to raise awareness of the services that IW provides to families in our area. In addition, we hope to raise funds that will directly support their efforts. Please consider making a donation when you register.
This is the 33rd running of the Kentlands/Lakelands 5K Run, Walk, and Kid’s Fun Runs. The 5K course winds through the beautiful Lakelands and Kentlands neighborhoods before heading down Main Street to the finish line. Every 5K registration comes with a Dri-Fit crew neck race shirt (men's, women's, and kid's sizes available). Enjoy our post-race Merchant's Expo area while meeting with your friends and family!
Live entertainment on the course - local bands set up along the course to delight participants and spectators alike, making what is already a spirited and fun event even livelier! The event finishes with the awards ceremony, team awards (lots of family options), and raffle items donated by local merchants. Cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers.
Kids runs includes two distances - 200 and 500 meters! Cotton t-shirt, designed by a local child resident, with each Fun Run registration and a Kids area for a fun time after their event.
Please support our charities by signing up and donating if you can. When you support the Kentlands/Lakelands 5K, you support all 14 community programs of the Kentlands Community Foundation — fueling arts, culture, education, and volunteerism throughout our community. Our charities also include the City of Gaithersburg Dolores Swoyer Camp Scholarship Fund, Gaithersburg HELP, Mercy Health Clinic, Maryland Senior Olympics, in addition to the Kentlands Community Foundation.
Shaare Torah Jewish Community, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, The Interfaith Families Project of Greater Washington, Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community are proud to partner for the tenth annual Montgomery County Interfaith 5K. Our goal is to bring together communities of faith in the county so people from diverse backgrounds can join forces to share a fun and health-promoting activity, teach tolerance through exposure and friendship and enjoy each other’s company.
The Montgomery County Interfaith 5K is an inclusive event, designed to bring together people of different backgrounds to meet, socialize and work together to better the entire community. While many attendees are people of faith, the event respects all backgrounds and does not embrace any one religion or belief system. Religious services, proselytizing and preaching are not part of the public program and should not be practiced at the Montgomery County Interfaith 5K.
Register as part of a team! Teams that have 12 or more registrants as of August 24th can have a table in our race festival area. Register by August 9th to guarantee a shirt.
The 2026 Montgomery County Interfaith 5K will continue to donate its proceeds to support the local Montgomery County community. This year profits will be donated to Gaithersburg Help and C-4.
