Vulture Vista Ultra Year Three
June 27, 2026
DePauw Nature Park, Greencastle, Indiana
The Vulture Vista Ultra returns for its third year with a runner-built loop ultra set inside the former limestone quarry at DePauw Nature Park. Simple on purpose, challenging by design, and welcoming to runners of all levels.
The Course
The 4.5 mile loop winds through a reclaimed limestone quarry with tall rock walls, wooded singletrack, open trail, and wide views of the quarry cliffs. Turkey vultures circle overhead throughout the day, quietly observing who keeps moving and who starts to slow down.
The loop format keeps things honest and crew friendly, with runners passing through the start and finish area every lap.
Choose Your Challenge
• Six Hour Ultra
• Twelve Hour Ultra
Run solo or as part of a relay team and complete as many laps as possible before time runs out.
• 4.5 Mile Trail Run
A single loop option for newer trail runners, youth athletes, or anyone wanting to be part of race day without committing to an ultra.
Runner Experience
Expect two well stocked aid stations with ultra staples and Tailwind nutrition, a centralized start and finish area with space for crews or self support, clear course marking, and a laid back atmosphere that values effort over ego.
This is a race designed by runners for runners.
Giving Back
A portion of proceeds will support AKC A Kinetic Change and local high school and middle school track and cross country programs.
Your miles help create more opportunities for movement in the community.
Is This Race for You
If you enjoy loop ultras, honest courses, straightforward logistics, and a race that lets the trail and the work speak for themselves, Vulture Vista is waiting.
Come ride one of Northeast Indiana's favorite cycling events - starting at a new location in 2026 with an entirely new course.
We provide some of the best-furnished SAG stops. This is our 36th year, and we would love for you to join us for a great day on your bicycle. We also encourage you to bring a friend and experience our flat countryside together.

Join us for a "For Fun Endurance Style" Race. Clock starts at 9 am and counts down to 4 hours at 1 pm. Individually or with a group you put together, see how many miles you knock out on our modified Shadyside course. We are using this as an introduction/warm-up to the 8-Hour Dream Endurance Race hosted by CRRG in mid-July (https://www.8hourdream.com/). Bring your 8-Hour team out to practice, or bring yourself and/or some friends and see what an event like this is like to participate in!
We gather and setup at the Shadyside Activity Center (next to the Pickleball courts) off Alexandria Pike. We will run our regular Shadyside course; Backwards! We will have 2.6 mile and 1.5 mile loops available.
There will be no scoring, no tracking; keep your own time and distance. There will be one clock counting down the 4 hours until the Warm Up is over!
Anderson Road Runners will have a tent and grill setup with some food and a water and Gatorade aide station available. Bring your own tent and chairs if you want and we'll set up in the grass near the parking lot at the Shadyside Activity Center. Bring snacks and drinks.
