Little Highlanders Running Camp
July 13–16 | 5:30–7:30 PM
For Incoming 2nd–8th Graders
Join us for four fun-filled evenings of movement, teamwork, and confidence-building at the Floyd Central Summer Running Camp! This camp is designed for incoming 2nd–8th graders of all ability levels—from first-time runners to experienced athletes looking to improve their skills.
Each day, campers will participate in age-appropriate running workouts focused on proper form, endurance, speed, and overall fitness. Sessions are designed to be challenging yet fun, with an emphasis on encouragement and personal growth rather than competition. In addition to running, campers will engage in daily team-building activities that promote sportsmanship, leadership, and friendship.
Campers will be coached by current and former Floyd Central High School athletes and coaches, providing a positive, high-energy environment and great role models for young runners. One highlight of the week will be our Track & Field Event Discovery Day, where campers get the opportunity to try a variety of track and field events—such as sprints, distance running, jumps, and throws—helping them discover new interests and strengths.
As a special bonus, every camper will receive a FREE entry to the Night Raid 5K or the Night Raid 800m Fun Run on Friday, July 17, giving them the chance to celebrate their hard work and be part of an exciting community race.
Whether your child wants to build fitness, make new friends, or explore track and field, this camp offers a supportive and energetic summer experience they won’t forget!
Night Raid 5K & Fun Run
Get ready for a thrilling evening of running under the lights at Floyd Central High School! The Night Raid 5K & Fun Run brings together runners of all ages for a unique nighttime race experience that combines community, challenge, and high-energy atmosphere.
The night kicks off with the Fun Run, an 800-meter race on the track starting at 8:30 PM. This event is perfect for kids, families, and first-time runners who want to experience the excitement of racing inside the stadium.
At 9:00 PM, the spotlight turns to the Night Raid 5K. The race begins on Edwardsville-Galena Road beside the Floyd Central track, sending runners up the opening hill toward the school. From there, participants will complete two laps around Floyd Central’s campus, taking in the course under the night sky before heading back toward the stadium. The race finishes in unforgettable fashion as runners enter the football stadium and cross the finish line on the track under the lights.
Whether you’re chasing a PR, enjoying a summer night run, or cheering on friends and family, the Night Raid offers an electric race atmosphere you won’t want to miss.
