The Great Lake Plunge is Evanston's only open water swimming event. The swim consists of three events: 4K, 2K, 1K. This is a not-for-profit event which provides grants to support local water safety training and awareness This is a unique, family friendly event that will leave an impression for years to come. The racecourse is a 1K GPS buoyed rectangle. Swimmers will start at the southwest corner and be directed clockwise, first heading northwest, then turning northeast before returning southeast and finally southwest, back to the starting area. Buoys will be placed at the corners and halfway points.
The 1K swimmers swim 1 loop, 2K swimmers 2 loops, and 4K swimmers 4 loops.

It is the mission of the Children’s Dyslexia Center to provide the highest quality, state-of-the-art, multisensory tutorial reading and written language instruction to children with dyslexia. The Children’s Dyslexia Center also seeks to train tutors in the art, science, and practice of tutoring children using the Orton-Gillingham approach to multisensory teaching of reading, spelling, and writing.

Age categories are determined based on the participant's age as of December 31, 2026 - not your age on race day.
E-assist is only permitted for Adaptive cycles. E-bikes (and any other non-human-powered bikes) are expressly prohibited from competing. This rule does not preclude Adaptive riders from competing in the category of their choice. Please refer to the Racer Handbook for a full list of rules.
Registration opens April 1, 2026. Note that prices go up two weeks before each race ($55 for Novice, Sport, Comp and Expert), and again two days before each race ($65 for Novice through Expert). By encouraging racers to register earlier, we are able to better coordinate race organization.
NCSL FUN RUN 5K
Join your fellow Legislative Summit attendees for a 5K run/walk on Tuesday, July 28. Enjoy scenic Chicago views, connect with colleagues, and start your day with an energizing experience. Whether you choose to run or walk, it's sure to be a morning of fitness and camaraderie. Registration is limited to 500 participants. You must be registered for the Legislative Summit to register for the Fun Run.
