    5K for CATCH is an endurance event raising money for CATCH, Community Action Together for Children's Health. Let's erase the stigma of mental illness together and become a community of resilient people who truly value mental health and well-being! The race is open to everyone and families are welcome!

    Each runner will receive a bib, a custom shirt, and a custom medal upon check-in on race day. **Walk Ups and Last Minute Registrants are not guaranteed a T-Shirt. All registrants after the 110th registrant will not receive a T-Shirt and all participants after the 125th finisher will not receive a medal.

    There will be two water stations along the course and bananas will be provided before and after the race. A first-aid kit will be present at the event and Techny Prairie is required to have an AED present.

    Parking is available in any Techny parking lot, including the Techny Prairie Activity Center parking lot.

    Schedule:

    7:25: Check-in will tentatively be open.

    7:30: Sponsors will arrive and begin setup. Water Station, Course Marshall, and Setup Volunteers will arrive.

    7:40: Recommended time of arrival for all participants to check-in.

    8:00: Everyone is lined up and ready to go! Race will begin!

    ~9:00: Race will end, first 125 finishers will receive a medal! Results will be emailed to you sometime after race completion.

    The HOH 5k is the sole fundraiser for the HOH scholarship program. This race is organized by the Northbrook District 28 PTO Council with volunteers from Greenbriar, Meadowbrook, Northbrook Junior High and Westmoor. All proceeds benefit the Homer O. Harvey Scholarship Fund.

    5K runners and walkers will start at 8:00 a.m with a group start. We welcome strollers, but NO dogs, bikes or rollerblades please. The lot behind the junior high will be closed from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m. for the race. The race is chip timed for instant results of the race. Runners can see their results after they finish.

    At 9:00 a.m. there will be a kids fun run. Kids age 6 & under are invited to participate. Registration for the kids run will close at 7:45 a.m.

    7:30am • Liberty Loop 5K Run/Walk

    Enjoy an annual holiday tradition with a scenic run or walk on a certified 5K course through Techny Prairie Park and Fields and Meadowhill Park. Winners receive medals, and pre-registered participants receive a dry-fit T-shirt and gift bag.

    8:30am • Liberty Lap Fun Run

    This one-mile modified Liberty Loop course welcomes junior joggers. The course starts and finishes at the same location as the 5K and winds along the Trail Through Time. Young runners receive a T-shirt, gift bag and a miniature American flag at the finish line.

    2026 MATTS 3RD ANNUAL VELODROME 4K TT (Sponsored by ABD and PACT)

    Registration Details

    • Participation requires an American Bicycle Racing (ABR) membership (annual or single-day). Purchase and sign the waiver here:

    American Bicycle Racing Membership

    • Race-day/on-site registration is available for an additional $10 fee.

    Race Schedule (times are approximate)

    • 8:00am – Volunteers and Recumbents

    • 9:00am – Men Cat 4-5

    • 10:00am – Juniors (boys and girls) (5 laps for juniors under age 10)

    • 11:00am – Women (all age groups and categories)

    • 12:30pm – Men age groups 60 and above

    • 1:30pm – Men age groups under 60

    • 2:30pm – Men Cat 1-2 and Cat 3

    Start times will be emailed to participants after online registration closes on August 6.

    Back for 2026: Road Bike Category

    • Choose between a Time Trial (TT) Bike or Road Bike for all categories.

    • Road Bike Definition:

    • Drop or straight handlebars permitted.

    • No tri-bars, clip-on bars, or Spinaci bars allowed.

    • No disc wheels; both wheels must have at least 12 spokes.

    • Maximum rim depth: 90mm.

    • Purpose: Encourages broader participation by leveling the playing field for racers without TT bikes. If your bike qualifies for a road race or criterium, it’s eligible here.

    • Note: For this Track event, you can ride a fixed gear track bike. If it has aero bars and wheels, you should enter the TT Bike category. If it's just the basic track bike, you should enter the Road Bike category.

    Meadowhill Park, Ed Rudolph Velodrome

    • Parking: Plenty of parking is available in the lot outside of Velodrome.

    • Course Description: The race will be 10 laps (about 4K) on the famous Ed Rudolph Velodrome, a banked 383-meter track. Racers will go two at a time, starting on opposite sides of the track in “pursuit” format.

    Safety & Guidelines

    • The course is closed to traffic — only two riders will race at a time and is very smooth. This is a great event to give time trialing a shot.

    • Respect our host community:

    • Leave the site cleaner than you found it.

    • Keep noise levels low.

    • Use provided rest rooms in chalet.
