Welcome to The Dirty Shoe Gravel Race, inspired by Martinsville, IL’s claim to fame—the world’s largest horseshoe! This gravel race takes riders through moderately flat terrain with rolling hills and sections of chunky gravel, offering an exciting challenge for cyclists of all skill levels.
This event takes place during the annual Martinsville Block Party, a weekend packed with food vendors, games, live music, and community festivities in downtown Martinsville. Whether you're racing or cheering from the sidelines, there's plenty to enjoy!
All proceeds from the Dirty Shoe go toward maintaining and expanding the Martinsville Ridgelawn Hiking and Biking Trails, ensuring outdoor enthusiasts have great places to ride and explore for years to come.

Route Details
This event is fully self-supported. SAG stops will be available on each route. Turns on the route will be marked the day of the race, but GPS units are highly encouraged, especially on the 65 mile route. The 12- and 30-mile routes follow scenic gravel roads through the countryside and are suitable for most riders. A 40mm tire width is recommended for all routes. The 65 mile route includes more technical segments to include steep hills with chunky and loose gravel as well as creek crossings at multiple stages. An alternate route will be planned in the event of high water prior to race day.
