15th Edition of the DPR Trail Races
Welcome to the 15th edition of the DPR Trail Half-Marathon, Marathon, 50 Km and 50 Mile Ultra Marathon along the beautiful and fast Des Plaines River Trail in Lake County, Illinois starting and finishing at Half Day Forest Preserve. With expected cool temperatures, flat terrain, and ideal running surface, you'll find this trail to be extremely fast, which is perfect for a personal best, or a Boston Qualifying time. (Marathon is a Boston Qualifier!) Come out and join us for a great run! This race is a CUPLESS EVENT (bring your own cup, hydration pack, water bottle, etc). Please visit our website at https://desplainesrivertrailraces.com for all the details.
Run Through a Beautiful Trail System
The DPR Trail is truly awesome and the color changes are OMG-worthy! You'll run through beautiful alternating lush forests and open wetlands on a very flat, wide, crushed gravel trail, free of roots and rocks. All of the major road crossings are managed by way of bridges or viaducts (with only 4 minor road crossings along the whole 50K/50 Mile course, 2 on the Marathon course, and none for the Half-Marathon course). All races are basically an out and back along the northern segment of the Des Plaines River Trail system. This is a TRAIL RACE so you may encounter areas where you may run through some water. This race is run along the Des Plaines River which floods during heavy rains. If the course is flooded we will run the ALTERNATE course.
The Marathon is a Boston Qualifier
With expected cool temperatures, flat terrain, and ideal running surface, you'll find this trail to be extremely fast, which is perfect for a personal best, or a Boston Qualifying time.
Finisher Medals, Belt Buckles, Award Plaques
Finisher’s medal for every distance.Awards for overall male and female winners for each race and for 1st Place AG winners in each age group.
T-Shirts
Trying to forecast participant registration after our t-shirt lead time is slightly easier than predicting the weather, but only slightly. The result is many surplus shirts at the end of the year. We find that wasteful and frankly not very earth friendly.Because of the lead time, cost and wastefulness we entered the inventory of shirts purchased (August 6th). We ordered more that expected entrants. Choose the size you want. If you sign up late all shirt sizes may not be available so sign up early!
For Races that Have a Waitlist
For those who want to join the waitlist should one of our races reach capacity. Keep in mind that you aren't charged until you accept the registration Thru September 27th, you'll only have 24 HOURS TO REGISTER; after that, you will only have 6 HOURS TO REGISTER. If you miss the window, your spot will go to the next person, so keep an eye on your inbox (check your spam/junk folders). If you're wondering where you stand on the waitlist? Tap on the Waitlist menu to see all those on the list.Do know that it’s impossible for us to know whether someone will get in based on where they’re at on the waitlist. Each year is different in terms of how fast it moves and when. Please don’t send an email to find out what your chances are of getting in. This is the reply we’ll give you.If you've got any unanswered questions, don't hesitate to drop us a line at [email protected]'re excited to have you as part of the DPR community, and we hope to see you at the starting line! If not, please consider registering before August, as that is generally when we’re approaching the sellout of the race. We open registration in January.
Let's get some swag
Swag includes an event t-shirt (NOTE: Only if you register on or before August 15th - see T-Shirt section).

We are looking forward to another wonderful race this year! This year the spirit and celebration of 13th Annual Harvest Hustle 5K is back! The race is scheduled to begin at 8 am. Over the years together, we have raised over $35,000.00 and have collected thousands of pounds of food to help the families of our community. We are very proud the proceeds will benefit Niles Family Services Food Pantry in supporting all those families in need by raising money through the fee to participate and donations.
Race Information:
Race Time: 8 am
Location Start/Finish: At Notre Dame College Prep High School, 7655 Dempster St. Niles, IL 60714
Awards: Each Participant will receive a Participation Medal, picked up at the race.
Why is it so important to support the Niles Family Services Food Pantry?
In our community there are many people, young, elderly and in-between, who do not have the resources to feed themselves or their families adequately.
The Niles Family Services exists to aid those who need food, especially on an emergency basis. We want to make sure that every person has the food they need to sustain themselves.
Current Food Pantry Needs:
The highest priority need for donations to the food pantry right now are cleaning supplies.
Also needed are paper plates, plastic utensils, and cups.
If you prefer to donate food items, the most useful items are canned fruit, canned vegetables, tuna, cereals (individual sized), oatmeal, crackers, rice, peanut butter, jelly, Chef Boyardee cans, chili, and pasta sauce.

Monuments! Mausoleums! Scenic paths! And then there’s the eternal spirits who reside in Rosehill. Among them: more than 10 Chicago mayors, Oscar Mayer, John G. Shedd, Cubs’ announcer Jack Brickhouse, legendary adman Leo Burnett, Sears founder Julius Rosenwald and scores of Civil War vets are just a few of the souls who call Rosehill home.
In addition, there will also be a post run/walk party at the close-by Fireside Restaurant & Tavern.

With the option to choose between a 1K or 5K course, or both, there’s something for everyone. Along the 1K course, you’ll find four sampling stations where you can enjoy world-class wines from the partner vineyard. And if you complete the 5K course, there will be a complimentary glass of wine waiting for you at the finish line.
Enjoy access to our post event party where you can enjoy the tunes of a live DJ, eat some delicious food from our food trucks, purchase more wine and play “that’s when we became best friends” games, creating the perfect atmosphere for an evening out with your friends and loved ones. Don’t miss out on the fun-filled event!
Bring a friend, put together a team, or fly solo to meet fellow wine enthusiasts as you sample wines from the vineyard. By participating, you’ll not only be treating yourself to a great time but also supporting our charity partners!

Race Update Due to major trail renovations and closures at Palos Forest Preserves from August to December we will be moving this race to Deer Grove Forest Preserve for the 2026 event! A Nonsensical Running Experience My mind is always looking for a good trick to pull or some shenanigans to get into. I've been voted the prankster of the office. My imagination runs wild on most of my runs. When I'm in the woods, I pretend I'm a hobbit running through the woods on an especially important quest. It's this combination of mischief and imagination that the Fancy Nonsense 25k/50k was born. The course is designed to allow the runner a space to return to the joy of running. Yes, you will accomplish your goal distance. More importantly, you will smile, you will laugh, you may even be a little confused. You will test your mental and physical limits while I tickle your funny bone. The race starts and finishes at Red Gate Wods in the Palos Trail System just 20 minutes from downtown Chicago. The course
will wind you on mostly single track.Aid stations will be stocked with your typical ultra fare. Cut off time for both races is 5pm. Register by Sept. 15th for a guaranteed shirt. CUSS Running Curious Ultrarunner's Secret Society was established to inject a sense of whimsy into training calendars, split times, and fartleks. Our goal is to build a community that creates a space for the individual to fall in love with the magic of running.MissionTo help others fall in love with ultrarunning.VisionTo make you & the world slightly better through laughter & pain. BIPOC & LGBTQ+ Entries One of the things we strive for is to create inclusion and equality in the runningcommunity. As much as we want to say that all you need to run is a pair ofshoes, we know the reality is much more complex. To create intentional space for people, we have a number of free entries for ourraces that we would like to extend to BIPOC and LGBTQ+athletes. We would
like to emphasize that these are not need based orscholarships. These entries are an affirmation of belonging in our community. Weare not in any way publicly advertising who accepts an entry, and you do nothave to be an out member of the LGBTQ+ community to receive one. We are notquestioning or asking for additional information from anyone who asks for a code, they will be handed out as long as we have funding to do so.If you would like a code, please email us at [email protected] . Wehave earmarked funds for both BIPOC and LGBTQ+. Please feel free to share this offer with friends. Entrance Policy for Transgender Athletes We will accept each entrant’s declared gender at face value, and no additional supportingevidence is required. Athletes may register as the gender they identify with.
