Please come join our 5K and support “The Crumbley Cause” by helping us honor FOUR amazing people! Our mission is to provide monetary support as well as camaraderie within our communities for these wonderful humans.
What is this The Crumbley Cause/Run all about?
This is a charity that Fit Body started in 2023 was to help Jordan through her battle with breast cancer. She is a former coach, and we wanted to do everything we could to support her and her family.
Jordan has inspired so many and has been a beacon of hope for hundreds of people - and now, in honor of Jordan, we have dedicated our charity and this race to her name! When it was time to host our event in 2024, Jordan, being the selfless person she is, felt she was in a good place and suggested that we branch out to our communities to see who else might need the support instead. This has opened an opportunity to keep her inspiring story alive by taking on a family at each of our locations (Watkinsville, Athens, Monroe, & Jefferson) that are in need of help!
Here is a little bit about the people that you are helping when you sign up to do our 5K this year:
First in Watkinsville, we are supporting Jordan Crumbley. Jordan has been part of our Fit Body family since summer of 2018, and then in January 2019 she went from being a client to becoming a coach! Jordan coached with us for about 4 years off and on, between having her three beautiful children.
Jordan is married to Daniel Crumbley and has been since 2016. They love living in Athens with their three little ones. She is a connector of people and even leads a weekly small group at Beech Haven Church with her husband. Jordan stays involved in lots of activities from sewing, gardening, attending her kids swim meets, reading, anything outdoors, church, and spending time with her family and friends!
In August of 2023, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer (TNBC) and from there began 5 months of chemo, surgery, radiation and a second chemo. In the fall of 2024 she was declared cancer free, and remained that way until June of 2025 when a blood test revealed that my cancer had returned. And this time it was declared stage 4, or metastatic. Currently she is undergoing more vigorous treatments to rid herself of any cancers cells that remain.
In Jefferson, we are supporting Ezra King. Ezra is a 9 year old boy from Jefferson, GA. In April of 2018, at just the age of 18 months old, he was diagnosed with a large brain tumor behind his left eye that pushed into several vital parts of the brain. He has endured 40 MRIs, 7 different experimental chemotherapy regiments spanning over 6 years, 10 brain surgeries, countless hospital stays, 8 years of weekly physical therapy (6 hours per week currently) and more.
In 2024, the King family learned that his brain tumor is no longer able to be surgically debulked. Ezra likes to learn about animals, watch movies, play outside, build things, swim and is taking baseball lessons in Jefferson despite the struggles he still faces from the stroke, treatments, surgeries and tumor location.
We want it to be known that Ezra is so much more than this! He is such a strong person that loves animals more than anything (watches nature shows, loves to go see animals (aquarium, zoo, etc), wants a farm or to be a Vet),loves dinosaurs, 3D printed animals, likes to sculpt/model clay, Sponge Bob, and physically likes to tag, run, do sit ups! His favorite colors are “dark blue”, red and green!
At our Athens location, we are supporting Lucy Butler. Lucy was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer in January 2026 after a missed diagnosis in 2023. Her cancer was difficult to type and find the origination place but it had spread to her lymph nodes by the time it was discovered and there was a new spot on her liver by the time chemo was started. She started chemotherapy in March and goes every two weeks and sometimes every week. Her PET scan in May showed significant shrinkage of tumors and though her prognosis will never change according to the doctor she has hope and is believing in miracles. As most people know, side effects of chermotherapy can be as bad or worse than the cancer symptoms.
She is the single mom of a just turned 11 boy, CJ, short for Caleb. He is her world and she is in this fight for more time with him. Her parents have both passed away but she is not in this fight alone. Her aunt, Sharon Pendley, a member of Fit Body Forever and her uncle Ross are by her side.
She is unable to work or drive but she will not stop trying to give CJ the normal life of an 11 year old boy. To know Lucy is to know someone who is beautiful inside and out. She loves all things pink, animals, flowers, and most of all, people.
Finally, our fourth family that we are supporting in Monroe, is Rachel Davis. Here are some words from Rachel herself to explain her journey with cancer so far.
“On May 4, 2026, I went for what I thought was just another routine annual mammogram. I felt healthy, had no symptoms, and certainly didn’t expect my life to change before I got back to my car. But God already knew what the scans would reveal long before I did.
As a retired United States Air Force veteran, I’ve never been one to run from a fight. I’ve faced difficult missions before, but nothing could have fully prepared me for the whirlwind that followed: diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, MRIs, CT scans, bloodwork, port surgery, and a diagnosis of triple-negative breast cancer. It felt like I had been dropped into a crash course in oncology that I never signed up for. If frequent flyer miles existed for medical appointments, I’d be platinum by now.
I have never walked this road alone. God has faithfully gone before me, surrounded me with an incredible medical team, and carried me through moments when I was too exhausted to carry myself. My husband, children, family, friends, church family, and community have wrapped me in prayers, meals, laughter, encouragement, and more love than I could have imagined.”
In conclusion, we at Fit Body are extremely grateful as an organization to have the love, support, and care of you all! We thank you in advance for signing up to help and make an impact on these wonderful lives! They need our help, so please spread the word, share the 5k link, and come support!!
Another way to show support and help raise money is to bring used/new shoes to any of our gym locations, now through September 16th! We are partnered with a non-profit organization called Funds2Orgs and this is how it helps support these families:
For every bag we are able to fill with 25 pairs of shoes, we receive ~$10 back. 100% of the funds we raise will be directly given to the families! The shoes themselves are given to 26 different third world countries in need. It is a win-win!
Here are the rules for the shoes - They can be worn, but we do not take shoes that have any holes. The soles must be intact still, and they have to be donated as a matching pair! If the shoes have laces, they must be tied together with those laces. Shoes without laces can be velco’d, buckled, zip tied, or rubber banded together!
Our hope is to be able to donate a minimum of 400 bags, and with each bag being worth ~$10 - between all of our locations our goal is to raise $4,000 through the shoe drive alone!
All proceeds from the 5k and shoe drive will be split evenly between Jordan, Ezra, Lucy, and Rachel! So share the link and invite all of your friends to our 5k this year! We are so excited to be hosting you all at Wire Park on September 19th!
