Inspired by Oakley’s Journey

This event was created by local moms, Sam and Brittany, after Sam’s daughter, Oakley, received a lifesaving bone marrow transplant in 2022. Her courage continues to fuel our mission to support NMDP and families right here in our community walking similar roads.

Why It Matters

Every 3–4 minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer or disorder. For many, a matching donor is their only hope. Your presence, your steps, and your support truly make a difference.

Lace up for a great cause! Experience the natural beauty and historic grounds of Hagley Museum at the 8th Annual 5K/1K Run/Walk.

Run or walk along the picturesque Brandywine River and through 235 acres of stunning landscape. It’s a perfect event for families and fitness enthusiasts, as well as history and nature lovers!

Why Participate? Every step supports the Hagley Field Trip Fund. Your registration provides underserved students in our community with a vital, educational visit to the museum. We've already sent over 2,600 students—let's keep the momentum going!

This year's event will feature the 5K starting at 8:30am followed by the 1K Fun Run at 9:00am. There is not an age requirement for either event.

Bib pick-up and Check-in

Day of event starting at 7:30am in front of the Hagley Library

Refer a Friend (or five)

After registering, you will receive a unique URL to share with family and friends to encourage them to register. Post it on social media. After five friends register using your unique URL, you will receive a $10 discount off your 5K fee OR a $5 discount off your 1K fee.

An awards ceremony will take place around 9:30 near the finish line.

Hagley Museum opens at 10am, so stay and explore the historic powder yards, first du Pont family home, and gardens. Your registration fee gives you free admission to Hagley for the two weeks following the 5K/1K (through May 10, 2026).

You're invited to Faithful Friends Animal Society's 16TH ANNUAL 5K & Mutt Mile on Sunday, September 27th at Bellevue State Park. Not only is this our biggest fundraising event of the year, it's also the LARGEST dog-friendly race in Delaware!

All 5K registrants will receive a FREE 5K shirt or FREE Mutt Mile bandana with registration. Additional merchandise is available for purchase.

Bring your whole family (pups included!) to this beautiful and scenic cross-country 5K course timed by Fusion Racing. Prefer a more leisurely walk? Sign up for our Mutt Mile.

The event features race awards for dogs and people, food trucks, vendors, pup kissing booth, plus a meet and greet with some of FFAS adoptable dogs! Register TODAY, and bring the whole family (pups included) to this scenic 5K!

The MSD Campaign for Kids is an initiative of the Medical Society of Delaware born in 2012 and launched in 2013 to focus on seven critical issues that affect young Delawareans and families. This initiative encompasses public and in-school education presentations to teens, parents, school personnel, coaches, and health care professionals by experts on each of the seven focus areas (Obesity, Bullying, Violence, Intelligent decisions, Opioid abuse, Underage drinking, Suicide).

These MSD-sponsored presentations are directed to educate and help our youth in understanding and coping with these critical issues they face today. Our 5k Run/Walk is an opportunity to promote further awareness and educational opportunities into the future.
