Since 1984, the Reston Triathlon has been a staple in our community. It opens with a 1500-meter open water swim in Lake Audubon, followed by a 25-mile bike ride and a 10K run on local paths. The Olympic distance event has challenged athletes from around the country and has affectionately been called the Reston Triathlon World Championship.
During the pandemic, the previous board worked tirelessly to keep the tradition alive. Unfortunately, in 2021, they announced they could no longer financially or logically sustain the Reston Triathlon. CORE Foundation, working closely with the previous board, is thrilled to revive the event and continue the legacy. The Reston Triathlon made its comeback debut on September 10, 2023! This year's race date is September 28, 2025.
CORE Foundation is grateful for the loyal athletes and local community. They received overwhelming support while pursuing the opportunity to restore this community event.
To join our list of wonderful partners, please email [email protected].
Looking for a scenic trail 5k or 10k around a lake? Check out these two courses through the trails of Burke Lake Park.

There are over 1.2 million people in the DMV region who identify as food insecure. In Fairfax County, there are over 105,000 people who are food insecure alone. With this being one of the most affluent areas in the nation, this news is shocking. Due to the lingering effects of COVID and the impact of inflation, food banks and pantries around the region are seeing the demand for services drastically increase. We need your support now more than ever.
The Food for Others Tysons 5K & Fun Run on Saturday, September 26th brings together the local community for a morning spent raising awareness around food insecurity here in NOVA. What makes this race incredibly unique is that after the race, all participants and volunteers will have the opportunity to write inspirational messages that will be shared with students participating in our Power Pack Program that provides weekend meal packs to over 3,900 students EACH week throughout the school year.
