ABOUT US
Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County delivers nutritious meals to older adults. What someone may not know is that the human connection we provide can also help to improve quality of life and in some cases, even save lives. Isolation has become even more prevalent, within an already lonely population. Our own participants report that most of the time, our driver is the only visitor they have all week. Without human connection—older people’s lives are shortened and they can suffer damage to their mental and physical health and quality of life. With our program, not only do people receive that nutritious meal, but the social interaction we provide, however brief, helps them to feel connected, reassured, and wards off the isolation that can lead to serious health conditions.
Since opening its doors in 1977, Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County has served more than 14.5 million meals, and today we are providing an average of 8,000 meals a week to our older and homebound neighbors throughout Hillsborough County, NH. With those nutritious meals come wellness checks, resources, care/concern follow-up calls and connection to the community.
Our agency fully believes in tackling this epidemic of loneliness and isolation head on, which is why the residents of Hillsborough County 60 and older have a unique opportunity through Meals on Wheels: the Dine Out Club. Through three restaurant partnerships, older adults can enjoy a nutritious meal from a menu with a range of healthy options in the company of friends. We also offer a transportation service in Manchester for seniors that is a social opportunity in addition to providing much needed conveyance to stores and dining
It is through events like the Miles for Meals 5k that our community is able to help our Hillsborough County neighbors access nutrition and avoid isolation. Please join us in ending hunger and isolation among our older neighbors by signing up today!

This Walk is in memory of Joseph P. McDonald, Esq. "JoJo" of RockyHill, CT, formerly of North Providence, RI who passed away on September 14, 2016. He was 36 years old. Joe graduated from The University of Connecticut(2001). He received his law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law (2004) and founded McDonald Law Associates (2006). Joe built his law practice over the last 10 years in New Britain, Connecticut. He was highly successful, which he attributed to very hard work, preparation, personality and appreciating the people who worked for him. Work was not the only factor that made him the widely and deeply loved person he was. He enjoyed life to the fullest; he is described by family, friends and colleagues as being positive, charismatic, funny, energetic, extremely loyal and loving. Family meant everything to him and he never met a person he didn't consider a friend. The extent of his kindness and generosity toward people was overwhelming. When Joe discovered, whether friend or
family was in need; he would step up to the plate immediately even if they never asked. He received great joy in giving and helping people. Joe recognized that God had blessed him abundantly and wanted to share his prosperity with others who were not as fortunate. Joe's passion was practicing law and he was outstanding in his career. The legal community has lost a great attorney and the rest of the world has lost a great man.
