Our Annual Red Devil Swim offers 3 swim distances - 1 mile, 1/2 mile and 1/4 mile.
The annual swim honors the efforts of our lifeguards and raises funds to support East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue's mission to make expedient and safe water rescues year-round in all East End waters.
Races start at 5:30pm. Online registrants should check-in by 5:00pm. Day of registrants will be able to register from 4pm to 5pm. Online registration will close at midnight on September 4. We are providing official timing services through PR Timing.
EHVOR's certified ocean lifeguards will protect all swimmers at this event.
What the heck is a Red Devil? The red “Speedo-type” bathing suit often associated with male lifeguards and the culture of lifeguarding has long been nicknamed the “Red Devil.” While not all rescue swimmers on East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue (EHVOR) wear the “Red Devil,” we are all certified ocean lifeguards, and we all embrace the lifeguarding culture and responsibility that comes with being a lifeguard. As Big John Ryan likes to say: “We are lifeguards for life!”

The Charlton Old Home Day 5-Mile Road Race is held annually on Labor Day weekend. The figure-8 race course starts and ends at the Charlton Town Common.
Spectators can view runners at the beginning of the race, halfway through, and at the finish! Most participants consider it a challenging, yet fun race due to the hilly nature of the course.
