NEW LOCATION ⢠NEW DATE
Read below to make sure you understand the changes
The Silicon Valley Kids Triathlon (āSVKTā) is one of the countryās largest triathlons specifically for kids aged SIX through SEVENTEEN.
This year, we are moving to a new venue, the beautiful and recently opened Kathleen MacDonald High School. The swim will be in the pool and the run on the track as usual. The bike course will continue to be on closed roads. There should be plenty of parking, the bike course has easy spectator viewing, and the whole event will be more compact.
Because we are in a new venue with a smaller pool, we are cutting out some of the events that have been traditionally held in order to make the event smaller as we gain more experience with this venue.
Triathlon
There are two triathlon events to choose from.
Competitive Triathlon is for kids aged 6 to 15 who are ready to race on their own. It is timed and there will be awards. No parents will be allowed in transition at any time. (We will have transition clinics to teach the kids everything they need to know.) Your child needs to be able to swim across the pool without stopping and without swim aids; no training wheels or balance bikes either.
The Super-Sprint is for kids 11 to 17. Kids 11 to 15 can choose the shorter distances of the traditional event or the longer distances of the Super-Sprint.
Not sure which event to sign up for or if your child is ready for the competitive event? Read this guide.
Non-Competitive and Duathlon Events
There will be no Non-Competitive Events at this race. But Menlo Park and East Bay Kids Triathlons will still have them.
There will be no Duathlon either. There will be a Duathlon at the East Bay Kids Triathlon.
After some experience at this venue, we hope to bring these events back.
NorCal Youth State Series
This event is part of USA Triathlon's Youth State Series. Because there is so much overlap in participants, we will not have the Bay Area Kids Triathlon Series this year. We encourage everyone to participate in the entire state series, including the Sunnyvale Kids Splash and Dash (date TBD) and the Oakland Tri Club's Splash and Dash on October 25th. Series awards will be given out at the OTC Splash and Dash.
Youth Teams and Clinics
There are two youth teams in the area: TCMTriSquad Juniors in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties and First Youth Triathlon Team (FYTT) in Menlo Park. Both put on clinics and workouts.
In addition, there will be several youth clinics -- especially practice tris and transition practice -- put on by Rolling Stumps Endurance. More details to be announced soon.
NEW DATE ⢠MAY 10, 2026

Help support this effort by registering for the race, sponsoring other participants to run or donating to buy new clothes for those reentering our community from jail or prison. Many of these individuals have no clean clothes in which to start their reentry journey.
Here are some ways you can help:
-
Register and run the race!
-
Sponsor a race registration for an individual or a family.
-
Donate monetarily to buy new clothes for individuals released from custody.
-
Buy or donate new clothes for reentry clients leaving custody.
Every day at the County of Santa Clara Reentry Resource Center we see clients ready to make dramatic changes in their lives. But having a felony record can be almost as restrictive as being incarcerated. Access to jobs, housing, and other opportunities becomes incredibly limited due to employment and housing restrictions and social stigma.
Yet despite these challenges, we see clients determined to clear those hurdles. They are taking college credit classes, working their way up from minimum wage jobs to management positions and union apprenticeships and some are entering peer mentoring and counseling professions to help those who are following in their footsteps.
You can help support individuals who are just starting this journey to change their lives and share their talents with our community. Each person you help to rise up makes our community stronger.
If you would like more information about the County of Santa Clara Reentry Resource Center, please visit www.sccreentry.org or email Juan Guevara at [email protected]
We look forward to partnering with you for social change.
