2026 Winter/Spring Ultra Marathon Combo Program

Sacfit Ultra Runners, a nonprofit 501c3 trail running club, is celebrating it's 15th season and has the distinction as the first and oldest ultra marathon training team in the region!

We have trained hundreds of advanced, intermediate, and beginning runners to successful finishes in myriad trail races ranging from half marathon distances to 100+ miles.

We combine an atmosphere of fun and social team building with a serious and challenging training program, all under the auspices of expert personalized coaching and comprehensive resources.

The Combo Ultra training program is our newest offering and is designed for those trail runners who want to or are already running with one or more informal trail groups, but would like to complement their training on occasion with a more structured workout, expert coaching guidance, and unique workout/social amenities offered by Sacfit Ultra.

The bulk of the weekend workouts are on Saturday, with a few reserved for Sundays. The midweek workouts focus on shorter and moderate length mileages, strength training, and specialized workouts to round out a typical training week.

Participants of this program are not eligible to qualify for the Sacfit Ultra sponsor spot for Western States. If that amenity is of interest, please join the Ultra Full Program.

    SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

    Point-to-point Workouts

Tired of out-and-back workouts where you only gain experience and training on half the route or course in a given workout, and/or spending extra non-workout hours carpooling back and forth? With our new luxurious passenger transport vehicle, Sacfit Ultra Runners offers several point-to-point workouts to maximize your workouts and familiarity with all the courses of the races you're training for, not to mention enhancing the terrain variety. Also, you have your whole-season schedule at your fingertips. But that's where the similarities to other training apps ends!

Unique features to the Sacfit Ultra App include voice-navigated routes for various weekend long routes and mid-week routes (no more getting lost); written and video articles detailing specialized workouts and related training information, and a private social group (no need to have a FB account) to name a few. Welcome to SacFit's Intermediate & Advanced Half Marathon Training Program!

Let's Get Ready for the New Year!

At Sacfit, we meld expert coaching and premiere resource tools with fun and friendship to create a rewarding, inspirational, and successful training program unlike any other in the region.

    No Training Alone

Since our start in 2006, Sacfit has committed to a training philosophy that incorporates community and social interaction as part of its approach toward half marathon training. The Sacfit "family" as many refer to the team, provides a supportive and socially vibrant environment that serves to strengthen personal accountability and motivate consistent workout attendance, the sum of which ultimately contributes to successful athletic achievement.

We animate this aspect of our training philosophy throughout your entire workout experience by providing coaches and pace groups that train with you for every mile - each and every week. In this way, the bonding through shared experience builds life-long friends and keeps the fun going from workout start to finish.

    Results You Can Count On

Looking to run a 90-minute half marathon? Or maybe a sub 2-hour half marathon? Half Marathon finish on your bucket list? Whatever goals you have, Sacfit has a training program to provide you all the challenge you want to get you to the goals you've set.

Our training program incorporates science-based and best-practices training and techniques that have been time-tested and proven effective for thousands of our members over the past 20 years. Sacfit's training program has afforded its team members a success rate of over 99% in achieving their respective goals.

So no matter what your half marathon goal, we have a program and supportive team just for you! See below for additional program features and information.

    --- Program Details:

Our 16-week Half Marathon training program is broken up into weekly segments, each segment consisting of three mid-week workouts (Mon, Tues, and Thurs) and a Saturday morning long workout.

    • Monday is a timed active recovery workout of shorter duration.

    • Tuesday is a track, hill repeat, or stair-lunge workout.

    • Thursday is a tempo, race-pace, or longer mileage workout.

    • Saturday morning workouts are the longest of the week where the entire team and coaching staff meet at the same location. This workout includes coach-led pace groups consisting of about 10-15 teammates, post-workout strength and stretching stations, and an occasional raffle!

Our 2026 Winter/Spring Half Marathon Training Program is also the official training program for the Parkway Half Marathon. And not only does our program fully prepare you for a successful finish for the Parkway Half Marathon, but it also provides an opportunity for beginning, intermediate, and advanced runners and walkers to train for other Winter and Spring Half Marathons including the Shamrock'n Half Marathon. Additionally, there are shorter-distance local running and walking events during the season to consider!

Finally, all Sacfit training programs offer flexibility because you never know what the future holds! Should you decide you need to adjust your goal later in the season, you can switch to any other Sacfit training program at no additional cost!

    Coach-led Pace Groups

    No Training Alone

Half Marathon training includes weekend workouts that can extend a couple hours. At Sacfit, we believe that keeping an athlete sharp, focused, and committed to completing those long workouts includes training as a group - not just meeting together prior to the workout, but training as a group for the entire workout.

Sacfit is the only training group that offers pace groups for your long workouts so you always have at least several friends ( and usually more!) along for the ride! And most importantly, you are never left alone on the trail.

    Post-workout Strength and Stretching

To complete the triad of fitness, we add Strength and Stretching to your Aerobics. This includes providing strength and stretching stations and equipment after you complete your long workout. We also have supervised yoga and other stretching discipline and strength sessions.

Aid Stations - Second to None

Part of any safe and sensible training program includes aid stations for the longer workouts. Sacfit aid stations are famous along the Parkway and a welcome respite to our longer workouts. We offer a plethora of choices to satiate any palate of special food-diet requirement. And we ALWAYS have ice-chilled water and Gatorade to keep you cool, and ice to fill your water bottles. We also have first-aid kits at every station to keep you safe and moving forward.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    When does the season start?

Orientation is on Sunday, January 4, 2026 @ 6PM, which is informational Zoom meeting - No workout. Actual workouts begin Sunday, January 10, 2026 @ 7:15AM. Online registration is open continuously until the end of February.

What is the time commitment? Will my entire weekend be about training?

The Sacfit Ultra Runners program is built on the time-tested, science-based, and success-proven training model of back-to-back weekend mileages. We provide a supervised long workout on Saturday (and a few special long workouts on Sunday) with Monday and Friday rest days. That said, the actual number of back-to-back training weekends are only 7 out of the 15 weekends.

With regard to actual workout hours, we gauge the workout start times based on the workout distances and adjust so you'll finish between 10AM and Noon. A couple workouts may extend one or two hours beyond Noon, but our goal is to not eat up the entire day!

Where is the training location and what time does it meet?

We meet at various locations throughout the California Foothills and American River Watershed.

    • Our January 10 workout is at Phoenix Park in Orangevale. We start our training at 7:15 A.M. Click here for map.

    • Our January 17 workout is at Sterling Pointe in the Granite Bay/Newcastle area. We start our training at 8:15 A.M. Click here for map.

Can I sign up in person?

Yes, either before or after any January workout.

Can I pay with a credit card?

Yes. We take cash, check, or credit card.

What if I can't make it to the orientation meeting?

Not a huge problem. Depending on interest, we will look into a tentative alternate orientation later in January. But endeavor to make the early January orientation. Lots of pertinent information will be provided. Plus the season schedule will be reviewed, so you can plan your 2026 training calendar well in advance. The orientation is also a great opportunity to ask questions. But if you can't make it, that doesn't mean you can't still join.

How much does the program cost?

Sacfit's 15-week program costs only $225 for new members and $195 for returning members. And for all you get, it's the best bargain in town! (PS - please use the current 40off discount code for even greater savings!)
