Jed & Ted's Excellent Races proudly present the second annual Beyond The Streets 5K, 10K & Half Marathon.
Join us on February 7, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. as we take over the headwaters of the Los Angeles River near Canoga Park High School. This run is all about the real LA River experience, the sights, the sounds, the quiet moments, the unexpected pockets of life. and the community that moves along it.
This event is FREE, but we encourage donations. Every dollar goes directly to North Valley Caring Services, supporting the people and families who need it most. You’ll see an option to donate during registration.
We're making this event free because we want everyone to be able to show up, move their body, and be part of something good: no barriers, no pressure, no financial gatekeeping. But if you’re able to donate, even a little, it makes a real difference.
All donations go directly to North Valley Caring Services, an organization doing hands-on work with people experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and crisis right here in the Valley. They run meal programs, hygiene services, family support programs, and help folks get back on their feet with dignity and real, practical assistance.
Think of it this way:
WE cover the race. YOU cover what you can. TOGETHER we lift up our neighbors.
If this run brings you joy, clarity, community, or a sense of purpose, consider sharing some of that forward. Every dollar goes straight to NVCS, and every dollar helps someone move beyond survival and toward stability.
Come be part of something meaningful and memorable, the start of a race that grows with the river, the city, and the community around it.

On Mean Girls Day, October 3rd, 2026 he asked you what day it was. You said it’s October 3rd.
Now lace up and run.
Welcome to The Mean Girls 5K, 10K and Half Marathon, a pink powered comedy fueled tribute to the most quotable high school ever. This event transforms the LA River Path into North Shore High where every runner is either trying to make fetch happen or survive gym class without being personally victimized by Regina George.
Presented by Jed and Ted’s Excellent Races.
Wear pink if it’s Wednesday. Wear sweatpants only if it’s Saturday. Do not wear army pants and flip flops unless you want everyone else to buy army pants and flip flops.
This is your chance to run like you’re late for Calc, dodge Regina’s bus, and earn a medal pretty enough for the Spring Fling Court.
Choose your challenge:
-
The Burn Book 5K - A fast and funny out and back perfect for anyone who wants to run, walk, gossip, or talk about how butter is a carb.
-
The Glen Coco 10K - Six point two miles of pure candy cane energy. You go Glen Coco. Treat yourself and your friends. None for Gretchen Wieners.
-
The Full Plastics Half Marathon - Thirteen point one miles of pure drama control. Stay hydrated. Stay cute. Try not to start a three way call attack. Cross the finish feeling like the new Spring Fling Queen.
-
The Multiverse Lunch Table Dash (Virtual) - Run from anywhere. Work. School. Your bedroom. Africa.
Costumes Welcome
-
Pink everything
-
Plastics energy
-
Mathletes jackets
-
Mrs. Norbury teacher vibes

Blacklist LA started in 2013 with a radical idea: running could rewire how Los Angeles connects with itself. Founded on the belief that the city's sprawl is not a barrier but a canvas, the crew has grown to over 300 runners who show up Monday nights at 10pm without hesitation. Their philosophy is straightforward, running is a vehicle for community and cultural discovery. Every Monday night, they gather at Walt Disney Concert Hall and hit the streets toward the city's street art, turning late-night Los Angeles into a living gallery. Art, transit, and open roads are all fair game. For Blacklist LA, civic pride runs as deep as the miles.

In 2013, David Gómez and Elisa García asked a question that split the Los Angeles running scene: why did running clubs thrive only in wealthier neighborhoods? From their roots in Boyle Heights, East LA, they started the Boyle Heights Bridge Runners with one mission: create a space that belongs to their community. Every Wednesday night, runners gather at Mariachi Plaza and set out across the bridges that link their neighborhood to downtown, a route that has become iconic. What began as a small group has grown into a beacon for the city, drawing mechanics, teachers, artists, and activists into something deeper than miles. The crew stands for unity and inclusivity, proving that running can bridge not just geography but divides. Today, BHBR reminds LA that every neighborhood deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated on the streets.
