Building Community Together
🍇 Heard It Through the Grapevine… Fresno Is Running Like a Raisin! 🍇
Highway City Community Development (HCCD) invites you to the 2nd Annual Run for Roots 5K – “Heard It Through the Grapevine” Edition, where runners, walkers, families, and costumed raisins come together to celebrate West Fresno’s community, culture, and agricultural legacy.
This year’s race honors our area’s deep roots in agriculture—and a fun piece of Fresno history. Participants are encouraged to dress as raisins or “Raisin Eaters,” inspired by Fresno’s first professional baseball team from 1906. Set against the iconic vineyards of Kearney Park, this run is playful, meaningful, and uniquely Fresno.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with friends, or racing in full raisin costume, Run for Roots is about more than the finish line—it’s about celebrating who we are and where we come from.
Why We Run (It’s Bigger Than the Finish Line)
Since 1998, HCCD has been planting seeds of opportunity and cultivating resident leadership right here in West Fresno and the West of 99 / Central Unified area.
In 2025 alone, HCCD:
Served 10,000+ community members through classes, workshops, outreach and community events
Supported nearly 1,000 families during moments of crisis
Expanded access to food assistance, care navigation, education, housing advocacy, health resources, arts & culture, and community development
Your participation helps sustain a place where community, culture, agriculture, and families can grow—together.
*Note the race will occur rain or shine.
Get ready to lace up your sneakers for the 4th Annual Fun Run! The UHC Foundation is excited to host this year's event on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Woodward Park (Art of Life Area). We’d love your support—join us as a sponsor, runner, walker, or cheerleader! Every dollar raised will help provide top-notch medical, dental, vision, and specialty care at United Health Centers, break down barriers to life-saving healthcare, and train the next generation of primary care clinicians. Let's run, walk, and race to make a difference!

This year, your participation not only benefits the Central California Food Bank, but also supports the Coach Ray Knight Youth and Scholarship Programs, helping student-athletes across the Central Valley pursue their academic and athletic dreams.
Kick off your Thanksgiving with purpose! Whether you run the chip-timed 5K or enjoy the untimed 2-Mile Walk, you’ll be part of a festive and meaningful morning. Every participant will receive a long-sleeve Thanksgiving shirt, a commemorative finisher’s medal, and a tasty post-race treat.
Registering your family? If you register 4 to 10 people, you’ll automatically receive 10% off. Register 10 or more, and you’ll save 20%! Simply select "Multi-Person Pricing" during registration.

Run. Walk. Support.
Join us for our annual Support Blue Run — a powerful community event uniting the Central Valley in visible support of the men and women in law enforcement.
When you participate, you’re doing more than running a race. You’re investing in the mission of the Fresno Police and Fire Chaplaincy — committed to being First to Serve, providing spiritual and emotional support to first responders and the community during crisis, tragedy, and critical incidents.
Why Support Blue Matters
The Support Blue campaign exists to:
🤝 Strengthen trust and connection between law enforcement and the community
💙 Provide a meaningful way for families, businesses, and individuals to visibly show their support
👮♂️ Create positive engagement opportunities between the community and officers
🙏 Fund the programs and resources that allow the Fresno Police and Fire Chaplaincy to respond when the call comes
Every registration helps ensure chaplains can show up at hospitals, death notifications, critical incidents, and community crises throughout the year.

Whether you're a competitive runner, walking with family, or representing your department or business, there is a place for you at the start line.
More Than a Race
Support Blue Run is a celebration of community:
First responder displays
Family-friendly atmosphere
Vendor booths
Finisher medals
Coffee, donuts, and connection
It’s a day where Fresno stands together.
Be Part of Something Bigger
When you run Support Blue, you help the Chaplaincy continue to be present in the hardest moments — supporting officers, firefighters, victims, and families across our Valley.
We invite you to lace up, show up, and stand with those who serve.
