Grievances & Gratitude Run
Release. Move. Begin Again.
Skip the resolutions. Start the year with intention, movement, and joy.
Grievances & Gratitude is a feel-good New Year run designed to help you exhale, reset, and step into 2026 lighter—surrounded by community, movement, and positive energy. This is about letting go of what no longer serves you and making space for gratitude, clarity, and forward momentum.
You can write down everything you’re ready to release… or just one thing. You can take part in the experience—or simply show up and run. However you choose to participate, this event meets you exactly where you are.
Every participant receives a finisher medal, and the option to take part in our signature Let Go & Affirmation Experience—because new beginnings don’t have to be loud or rigid. Sometimes they just need movement and space to breathe.
How It Works
Let Go Before You Go
Before the run, write down anything you’re ready to release—grievances, frustrations, stress, or heavy thoughts. Place them into our “goodbye” containers and symbolically leave that energy behind.
Run Free
Head out on a scenic course and move your body with intention. Run or walk at your own pace, clear your mind, and let each step carry you forward.
Affirmations Await
After crossing the finish line, visit our New Year Mantra Board and select a positive affirmation to guide you into the year ahead. Leave with gratitude, purpose, and renewed energy.
This isn’t just a race—it’s a moment. A reset. A fresh start grounded in movement and community.

LASAA’s mission is to organize athletic events for our members, which include Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department employees and law enforcement officers. We aim to promote health, fitness, and camaraderie among our members.
The Mug Run series began in 1993. At that time, it was a small event with an average of just 10 runners per race, primarily attended by law enforcement personnel. Over the years, participation has grown significantly, expanding to welcome members of the public. Today, more than 300 runners join us, and the Mug Run continues to foster friendly competition and positive engagement between law enforcement and the community.
Each year, LASAA partners with Sheriff’s stations across the county to host a series of Mug Runs. Each station brings its own spirit, culture, and traditions to the event. This year, Altadena Station is dedicating their Mug Run to commemorating the two-year anniversary of the Altadena Eaton Fire.
One year after the fire blackened the ridges above our town, the inaugural Altadena Forever Run stands as a symbol of resilience and recovery. It honors those who were affected, those who responded, and those who continue working to rebuild and strengthen our community.
The Altadena Forever Run welcomes everyone. Your participation, sponsorship, and presence demonstrate solidarity, remembrance, and hope. Proceeds from this event will be directed to the Altadena Station Unit Fund to support community-benefit initiatives connected to the Eaton Fire Survivors organization, as well as programs supported by the Altadena Sheriff’s Support Group. LASAA’s part in the Mug Run series is to create meaningful, community-focused fitness events and transfer the proceeds to the station hosting the run. Altadena Station manages how this support is directed locally.
