NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION
The Scorchin’ Squirrel is a trail race through Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center’s 1200 acres located just 10 miles west of Little Rock. There are 4 distance options: a 10kish (1 loop), 11.5 mile (2 loops), 15.5 mile (3 loops) or 19.5 mile (4 loops). All distances are approximate. Each loop passes through 1 full aid station and one water drop. There will be refreshments at the end with a cook out at the pool. Please bring stuff to share although Fleet Feet Little Rock and Ferncliff will provide burgers and hot dogs. We will begin serving food at 10 AM. No glass containers please. No pets.
This is a great race for heat training and for trying out trail running with the shorter distances. There is quite a bit of incline (heheh) throughout the course and a few water crossings in wet weather.
All the distances end back at the start of the race, which is at the Ferncliff pool pavilion. The pool will be open after the race. It has a large covered pavilion and runners can cool off and enjoy some food and refreshments. There are lots of changing stalls.
Any proceeds from the event will support Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center. If you’d like to reserve lodging the evening before the event call 501-821-3063 to reserve a room or cabin.
It takes about 25 volunteers to do this event right. Would you like to volunteer and have a great time supporting runners? If so please fill out this very brief volunteer application: https://forms.gle/s2kSoHaT8Ygvm58x8

Thanks for your interest in Tour de Salvation!
Your registration fee benefits The Salvation Army's Pathway of Hope program. This program provides individualized services to families with children who desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and vulnerability that repeats generation after generation. It seeks to address the root causes of poverty in addition to The Army’s history of compassionate serving. By helping families overcome challenges like unemployment, unstable housing, and lack of education, we can lead families down a path toward increased stability and, ultimately, self-sufficiency.
Join us for a family friendly, multi "bike", ride in our beautiful Hot Springs!
You will have the option to ride your road bike only, MTB only, or BOTH!! Yes, we will have routes that include both road AND mountain. We will have a shuttle for your bikes at the exchange location.
After you have worked up a good appetite come celebrate your finish at our After Party. (Farmers Market) Your "tour" registration includes food and drink, t-shirt, and other awesome swag. (Family Ride includes Finisher Medal, food and drink only) We have put in a lot of time into planning, and months of meetings to bring you a fun unique experience in our beautiful city on your bike!
Come enjoy music, food, and drinks provided by The Salvation Army Canteen, and good family fun! Not riding? No worries! You can buy a ticket to the after party and join in on the festivities by being a virtual rider.
SAG and Aid Stations will be available on each route.
***Riders must wear bib numbers (supplied with registration) to obtain food and access to certain areas of the route. Medical support will be available; however, medical personnel will not be dispensing comfort medications such as: aspirin, ibuprofen, Tylenol. Participants are asked to bring their own comfort medications as needed.
Helmets are required for ALL riders regardless of the route you ride or your age.
Please download and save the route you plan to ride!!! All the routes will be well marked but it always helps to have the route on your bike computer! All routes are below.
Full Tour de Salvation
If you plan to ride the Full Tour route, you have the option to bring two different bikes. Many riders will ride the road route with a road bike (or gravel bike) and then switch to their mountain bike (MTB). Or you can complete the entire ride on your MTB! If you plan to switch bikes, remember to bring the shoes you need for each bike! You will need to "check in" your mountain bike and MTB shoes by 6:45 am on the day of the event. Your MTB will be shuttled to the switch point. Once you switch bikes at the trail, you will leave your road bike at the switch point and it will be shuttled back to the start point. After completing the mountain bike trail ride at the Pullman Trailhead, you will simply ride your MTB on the road for 2.5 miles back through downtown (bathhouse row) to the Farmer's Market. Do you have the GRIT and GUTS to traverse up and down Mt. Nebo… TWICE?
GRIT and GUTS is back!! Half Grit and Full Grit will be hard. And they will be beautiful. It will be equal parts VERT and equal parts fast flow, we promise!
That said: A warning. This is a tough race! The trails are amazing but rocky. Bring your climbing legs and big girl pants because it will get hard. Most race days start cool and then heat up. Not to scare anyone but this is probably not a good very first race. It will take you longer than a normal half marathon. You are welcome to bail early just come back to the start and check out. No judgement and no worries!
The race is a fun run so is FREE unless you would like a shirt to commemorate the day! Our sweet soft 50/50 shirts from Rock City Outfitters return! Shirts are unisex fit. The link to order shirts is: Grit 26 shirt order The shirts are $15 plus tax. We will pick up the shirts the week of the race.
All of the proceeds from this race go to local Cross country teams along with a donation to the Friends of Nebo.
We will have an aid station every 4-6 miles and would love to have you volunteer, run, or enjoy the mountain with family. If you're running and have family there we can put them to work! Parking will be in the 2 parking lots at Sunset point and temporary parking across the road. DO NOT park at the visitor center. Bathrooms are located at the campground/pool area when you first get up top!
The race starts from the Sunset point parking lot and after a quick look at the point and a short section of the 3C trail, you’ll head down the Sunset connector and take a left onto Lizard tail. You’ll go roughly a mile on Lizard past the seasonal waterfall. Then up to the Rim trail where you’ll take a right and end up at Sunrise point for another beautiful view of the river valley. Then you’ll go down the Sunrise connector taking a right. You’ll make your way down to the Bench trail crossing and go right onto Miller’s Goat. You’re at the 5k point and will follow Miller’s 4 miles (including a water stop) to end up at the aid station. Proceed on Miller's another mile past the Bench overlook to the Ox pull trail. Go down Ox 1.7 miles to the bottom and you’ll find another aid station to lift your spirits for the climb back up. Once you get back up turn right briefly on Miller's to the Overlook and then stay on the Bench trail back a mile to the Aid station. If you’re doing 13 head up the Sun
set connector to the finish. For the 20 you will head right down the Chickalah (pronounced like tequila!) loop trail for a mile and go left at the Y and do the loop clockwise. Then back up to the aid station one last time and up Sunset connector a long half mile to the finish. Piece of cake!

The 13th Annual Omega Prostate/Colon Cancer Awareness 5K Run/ Walk is a race event for which all the proceeds are donated in support of The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, American Cancer Society and scholarships for High School students.
We are grateful for the continued opportunity to raise money to help these two organization and continue to provide scholarships to deserving high school students. With the support of the community, last year we increased our participants to over 267 runners and walkers and we were able to raise $5,715.62 above expenses that has been distributed to support the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, the American Cancer Society and scholarships for deserving high school students through the Omegas of Greater Little Rock, Incorporated non- profit corporation. These organizations greatly appreciate the support that you gave to last year’s event.
Too many men will hear the words “You have prostate cancer” in this calendar year. Our goal is to increase the recognition, discussion, education, and promotion of yearly screenings for prostate and Colon cancer. According to the latest prostate cancer statistics from the National Cancer Institute, about 240,000 men will receive a diagnosis of prostate cancer, and about 33,000 men will die of the disease. Overall, about 17%, or 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. More than 2.5 million men in America are now living with a diagnosis of prostate cancer. Reports show that prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among men in the United States, accounting for about 11% of cancer related deaths in men. Colon Cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimates that this year 136,830 people will be diagnosed and
50,310 will die from this disease.
Thank you in advance for your continued support to help us knock out Prostate and Colon cancer!

The Big Dam Bridge 100 is an annual event in central Arkansas that celebrates the "Big Dam Bridge" over the Arkansas River. The 4,226-foot bridge is the longest bridge built for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in North America. It connects over 40 miles of scenic riverside trails between Little Rock and North Little Rock. It also serves as the backbone for connecting over 70,000 acres of various city, county, state & federal parks.
The BDB 100 offers several routes ranging between 15 and 105 miles, with beautiful mountain and river scenery, as well as a few challenging hills on the longer routes. The event provides participants with well-marked courses, fun aid stations with tasty treats and beverages, great volunteer support, event t-shirt, a unique finisher medal, post-ride food and drinks along with a unique finish-line experience.
