From big races to Saturday morning group runs—find fun run events and connect with the local endurance sports community.
The Arkansas Ultra Running Association is a 501(c)(3) organization that began in 1989. We organize, host or designate a number of races and fun runs to be included in our Ultra Trail Series each year, from June through May. We are unique in that many of our events are free/donation based with our directors volunteering their time. This saves our runners money and frees up more funds to be donated to the communities that serve us.
Winners of the UTS or UTS LITE (aka Kings and Queens of the Trail) are crowned at the completion of the series. The award ceremony and post race party is typically held at the Catsmacker, our final fun run of the UTS season. It is a party nobody wants to miss! The 2025-2026 Ultra Trail Series registration will open here after the final UTS race at Mt. Magazine Trail Run in May 2025.
Individual points are awarded for each event completed, based on the UTS Rules. Male and Female, Open, Master, Grand Master, Senior, and Super-Senior winners (Kings/Queens of the Trail) are crowned at the completion of the series each year, based on point totals.
Some of the UTS races are low-key, no-fee, no frills, minimal aid events (a.k.a. 'fun runs'), while others are full-fledged races. Please plan and prepare accordingly. Some of the races in the series are not put on by the AURA.
See https://www.runarkansas.com/UTSraces.htm for a list of races in this series and for additional information.
*PLEASE NOTE: Due to weather and other uncontrollable forces, the UTS/UTS LITE schedule is subject to changes.
Local folklore speaks of Sasquatch sightings during the early history of Little Rock AR. Through the mid to late 1800’s, several different companies harvested the forests that later became Hillcrest and the Heights neighborhoods and Allsopp Park. Loggers would tell tales of "huge, man-like beasts" roaming the woods at night. Since the dedication of Allsopp Park in 1931 and the development of surrounding areas, Sasquatch sightings have decreased but do persist. There have been multiple unconfirmed Sasquatch sightings in this area since 1932. Others believe the majority of the Sasquatch population migrated to Miller County and are now known as the “Fouke Monster”.
“Squatch Till You Drop” is a trail running event at Allsopp Park South that pays tribute to this legend. Participants will traverse these Sasquatch habitats on technical single track that will challenge even the fittest of runners. This course isn’t a “walk in the park”.
The 2026 Squatch event will take place over 2 days. The Fun Run is scheduled for 11/7/26. Packet pick-up will be on 11/6/26 from 4pm-6pm. Day-of packet pick-up will start at 7am and go to 9:15am. The Fun Run will begin promptly at 10am and go to 12pm. Lunch will be provided starting at 11am. All runners will receive a custom made finisher medal. The top male and female finishers will receive "Top Squatch" award. There will be a raffle for prizes at the awards presentation. Runners must be present to will.
The Squatch (6 hour Ultra) will take place on 11/8/26. Packet pick-up will be on 11/6/26 from 4pm-6pm. Day of packet pick-up will start at 6:30am and go to 7:30am. The Squatch will start promptly at 8am and go to 2pm. Lunch will be provided starting at 12pm. All runners will receive a custom made finisher medal. Age group awards and "Top Squatch" awards will be presented as soon as results are ready. There will be a raffle for prizes at the awards presentation. Runners must be present to will.
Both the Fun Run and The Squatch use the same 5k course.
