Join us for our annual #WinterSolstice vigil of welcoming back the sun over Lake Ontario!

The 2025 winter solstice is at 10:03am EST on Sunday, December 21st, so we'll be getting in the water to welcome the sun before the actual solstice this time, with sunrise along the western shore of Lake Ontario at 7:49am EST.

We'll see you bright and early at GLOW beach, or if you can't make it to Oakville, come out to your local #SwimDrinkFish spot on #OurGreatLakes to welcome the sun, and join us virtually on the socials with #GreatLakesOpenWater #WinterSolsticeSwim2025 #OurGreatLakes

The small print disclaimer stuff (but still really important!) ... we are open-water, cold-water, and winter swimmers who regularly swim, surf, and paddle in Lake Ontario all year-round.

This is not any sort of sanctioned or otherwise organized event. We're just a bunch of friends, old and new, enjoying our home waters.

As aways: know your limits and swim well within them.

Openwater activities, and especially coldwater and winter swimming, are inherently dangerous activities, and are always pursued at your own risk.

Look out for yourself, and each other!

Celebrate Spring in beautiful Bronte Creek Provincial Park. Runners and walkers can challenge the flat and fast trail in the morning and then stay for a invigorating day in the park. The event features custom medals for all Runners, fresh pancakes and a "Kids Zone" to keep the young family busy.

This year’s run will support Capillary Wave Community! Capillary Wave Community is a grassroots movement creating powerful ripples in the world of mental health. Born from the belief that healing happens through connection, they are a growing community where people come as they are and leave a little lighter, stronger, and more seen.

Our goal is to raise funds to ensure that everyone in community has access to the support, resources and services they need to become healthier in mind, body and spirit. Donations in support of Capillary Wave Community will be collected by The Rotary Burlington North Foundation, with 50% of net donations provided to Capillary Wave Community following the event.

Rotary Burlington North is a passionate group of people with a strong sense of fun and community service. We undertake hands-on projects locally and around the world to improve people’s lives. We raise funds through events like the Spring into Action Run, with donations going directly to the Rotary Burlington North Foundation, a registered Canadian charity. Over the past 25 years we have raised over 1.8 million dollars to help those in need and strengthen our community.

Your personal online fundraising drive can be set up through the Race Roster Portal. We ask that you make a voluntary donation when you sign-up for the run, or better yet, create a fundraising team and collect donations from friends and family members that support your desire to help Capillary Wave Community and other organizations that do good in our community. Thank YOU for your support!
