19th annual Rubber Ducky
5K, 7 Mile, Half Marathon
Rubber Ducky Day themed race so feel free to dress up!
This beautiful 21.1K & 7 Mile course circles Burnaby lake, giving you the opportunity to enjoy fresh air, exercise and more chances to view birds and animals in this wilderness environment. Join other walkers & runners on this scenic course throughout the trails of Burnaby Lake. Located in the middle of the city, Burnaby Lake Regional Park is a stunning wildlife sanctuary. The lake was created by a glacier 12,000 years ago and its shores were home to sawmills in the late 1800's. The race will provide you with an opportunity to be active while enjoying the scenic trails of Burnaby Lake.
We race Burnaby Lake twice a year with annual races, Shamrock’n Race in March and the Rubber Ducky in October. The Shamrock’n Race 7 Mile and Half Marathon circle the lake clockwise and the Rubber Ducky 7 Mile and Half Marathon circle the lake counter clockwise.

Salt Creek 24 Registration is OPEN!
Peninsula Adventure Sports is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Rain Bear Running Club to bring you this year's Salt Creek 24. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Rain Bear Running Club, a group known for its passion, expertise, and dedication to fostering a vibrant running community. The Salt Creek 24 has always been about celebrating endurance, adventure, and the stunning beauty of the Olympic Peninsula, and this partnership will take it to the next level.
With three event options, this all-day, all-night event has so much opportunity to get you on your feet, challenge you and provide you with scenery you won’t find anywhere else! Located at the Salt Creek Recreation Area in Port Angeles, Washington, runners and/or walkers will circle the park on a 1.3 mile route for 24 hours either solo, part of a relay team or as a Last Runner Standing (see event details for description of each event). While racing, individuals will be treated to expansive views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, towering evergreens, vivid green moss and ferns, along with a bit of World War II history!
While the clock will be running for 24 hours, this event is designed to allow athletes to challenge themselves by their own design – they can lap the course when they want, as many times as they like. Run or walk the whole 24 hours? That’s fine. Any other number of hours is fine too, in any configuration. You can go on and off the course as you please. Have a certain mileage goal? Just do that! You may stop at any time if you decide you have had enough fun. Training for another race? Awesome!
What’s included in your race registration?
A fully stocked aide station, including special featured treats during the toughest night hours! Food to fill your belly and volunteers to cheer you on and fill your soul!
A first come, first serve area for runners who plan to circle the park continuously to set up their own aide station/canopy. (This area will be LIMITED and is intended only for those racers planning to take breaks of less than 1 hour.)
What is a race without SWAG?! We’ve got that part in the bag. Let us surprise you!
THERE WILL BE PRICE INCREASES AUGUST 1 AND OCTOBER 1, SO DON'T DELAY!
CAMPING
We recommend reserving a campsite at Salt Creek Recreation Area as soon as possible. If the campsites sell out, don't worry! We will be working with the park that all racers that want to come will get one of the First Come First Serve campsites, or an alternative camping space for the event. Also, if you do plan to be on the course for the entirety of the race (stops no more than an hour) - you do not need a campsite, you can stage out of your vehicle or set up a 10x10 pop up canopy to have as your staging area.
How to participate in Salt Creek 24 as a Fundraiser
Fundraising as a part of Salt Creek 24 is OPTIONAL, but we are excited to offer this opportunity for anyone who wants to participate. How does it work? Take a look at our Step-by-Step Guide to becoming a fundraiser. We have a number of established Charity Partners that you can choose from, or you can choose your own charity. If you want to choose your own charity, please contact us at [email protected] with the contact name and email address of your charity (you will need to contact them to see if they are interested first!) and we can get them set up as a choice before your register.
REFUND POLICY
There are no refunds allowed and no deferrals to future years races.
Transfers are allowed until 3 days before the race.
If we are forced to cancel for any reason, runners will get a free transfer to the next year, or an 80% refund
During the registration process, you will have the chance to purchase refund insurance (unavailable for Canadian racers

Swing the Gates is back for a fourth year!
This year will include the popular 10k Team Scavenger Hunt, and the classic 5k Fun Run.
Come hang out with an amazing community of nature lovers, runners, walkers, and their K-9 companions while exploring the beauty of Deception Pass State Park
10K Team Scavenger Hunt
Challenge yourself and your friends to a unique race experience. Teams will set off along the trails to solve various challenges along the way which will help them uncover the racecourse as they go. Scavenger hunts are more fun with friends, so find three other people to join you at 9:00 AM on race day. Distances and elevation will vary based on your team’s ability to navigate the trails of Deception Pass State Park.
This is a difficult course run primarily along unpaved trails within the park. If your team is able to navigate the trails efficiently, we expect this year's course to be 6.2 miles and a 1200' elevation. Each clue station will have cutoff times. The final clue station will close at 1:00 PM to allow park staff to open closed areas to the public. If you are still running at this time, we ask that you head t:o the finish line and check in. This is an unsupported 10K race. Plan to carry your own water and snacks.
*The first participant will pay the initial fee and then all other teammates are free. Be sure to share your team’s name and password with your teammates so they join the correct team and aren’t paying another fee. If your teammate(s) does/do not register, they will not be allowed on the course for safety reasons.
5K Fun Run
The 5K fun run will kick off at 10:00 AM, but we recommend coming early to cheer on the 10K team scavenger hunt participants as they complete their first challenge as soon as they cross the start line at 9:00 AM.
The course will be run primarily on paved surfaces, however does include 400 ft elevation gain with a steep incline at the beginning of the race. Strollers, small children, and dogs are welcome! The race aid station is cup-less again, so be sure to bring your own water bottle or cup.
Prices (processing fees not included)
10K Team Scavenger Hunt
$120.00 No matter the day, or number of people on your team, the 10K Scavenger Hunt is the same price. The first participant will pay the initial fee and then all other teammates are free. Be sure to share your team’s name and password with your teammates so they join the correct team and aren’t paying another fee.

Substitutions and Cancellations
Cancellation and Transfer Policies:
Refunds for ticket and merchandise prices will be given until 11:59 PM on March 9, 2024. Registration processing fees are non-refundable. The race will be held rain or shine. However, if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather or other factors, we will issue full refunds.
Donations are not eligible for refunds.
You may transfer your ticket to another person until March 28, 2024, without any additional fees. The person transferring will receive a refund for the price of their ticket and the new registrant will have to pay for this ticket to confirm the transfer.
