PLAY LEARN TO RUN 5K CLINIC
Always wanted to run a 5KM but didn’t know where to start? Good news, we are here to help you start your journey! Our 8 Week Learn to Run 5KM Clinic is all about building confidence, building relationships, having fun, and moving our bodies. There will be 1 guided run per week meeting at Play (101- 1950 Harvey Ave) at 5:30 pm on Wednesdays and a couple of suggested homework runs for growth and injury prevention that will be printed off for you each week.

The Cherry Blossom Triathlon (CBT) was started in 2013 and has grown to be a staple early-season race or a great entry event for first-timers.
The CBT is hosted in Kelowna at one of the country's premier swim facilities – the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre. This first-class venue has a 50m pool, perfect for creating a great pool swim for the event. The H2O is surrounded by an ideal, spectator-friendly bike loop circuit, fairly flat and fast except for Swamp Hill Climb which is a nice added challenge! A mix of roads and trails makes the 2 - 5km run fun, interesting, and scenic.

The 2026 Kelowna Wine Country 5km, 10km and Half Marathon runs are back for another in-person event (virtual option also available) and post run festival.
We are also very excited to bring back our post run wine, beer, cider and music festival. Entry to this festival is included with your in-person registration, when you register you will also have the option to purchase an extra festival pass so your friends and family that are not running can join in the post run festivities.

5k description
This flat, fast out and back 5K starts and finishes at City Park, following along Abbott Street. Runners head south with long straight sections and gentle turns before turning around at the 2.5 km mark and racing back to the finish. With minimal elevation change and a straightforward layout, this course is ideal for steady pacing, first time 5K runners, and anyone chasing a personal best.

Kids 1km Description
A fun and friendly 1km run for kids of all ages! The course runs 0.5km out and 0.5km back, making it easy to follow and perfect for little legs. Parents are welcome to run or walk alongside their kids for support and encouragement.
Race Bib Pick Up - Tuesday, June 30th 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Play Stores. (101-1950 Harvey Ave) and Wednesday, July 1st 6:15 am - 7:15 am at City Park (1600 Abbott Street).
5K Start Time - 7:30 am
Kids Fun Run Start Time - 8:15 am
Note: Registration is ONLINE ONLY. Registration closes at 6:00 pm Tuesday, June 30th. There is no day of race registration.
No dogs allowed on the run; you will be disqualified if you take your dog.
If you have a baby jogger, we ask that you start at the back of the group.

For over 30 years, the Midsummer 8K has been a cornerstone of the Kelowna running scene and the Interior Running Association Road Race Series. A beautifully scenic, out-and-back route beginning and ending at Boyce-Gyro Beach (3400 Lakeshore Road), the course winds along Lakeshore Road and the dedicated multi-use pathways that trace the edge of Lake Okanagan.
With minimal intersections, wide paved paths, and long uninterrupted stretches, this course is designed for rhythm and speed. Expect smooth flowing turns, quiet tree-lined pathways, and an energizing turnaround in City Park before heading back toward the finish with the lake at your side.

This year, the Midsummer 8K proudly supports the UBCO Track & Field team, coached by Canadian Olympian Malindi Elmore. The program continues to rise on the national stage, recently hosting the USPORTS Championships in Kelowna and building toward ambitious goals for 2026 and beyond.
A portion of race proceeds will support the team, and runners may choose to make an additional donation during registration.

The Midsummer 8k is proud to be a part of the Interior Running Association's annual road race series. Our race is the penultimate road race in their 2026 season. Runners of the Midsummer 8k will receive credit for their Iron Legs award and may be eligible for series age group awards.
