Monmouth Battlefield 5K

Runners, history buffs, and families will come together on August 9, 2026, for the Monmouth Battlefield 5K. Part of the RevolutionNJ Race Series, the event begins at 9:30 a.m. and offers a unique way to engage with New Jersey’s Revolutionary War history.

The RevolutionNJ Race Series draws inspiration from Jonas Cattell’s legendary run to warn American troops of a British attack at Red Bank Battlefield. This race is one of six in the series, with additional events planned at Cedar Bridge Tavern, Red Bank Battlefield, Fort Lee Historic Park, Princeton Battlefield, and Batsto Village.

Whether running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, participants will experience a race that blends fitness, history, and community celebration. The event offers an interactive way to honor the region's past.

Timing and Event Management Provided by TNT Event Management

To race on a course on the Monmouth Battlefield is to run through the site of the Battle of Monmouth fought on June 28, 1778, a pivotal engagement in the Revolutionary War. This is a National Historic Landmark, the highest level of recognition bestowed on our nation's historic sites. This is not just a race, it's become a runner's right of passage. So join us for our inaugural event to make your run as revolutionary as this place is to all of us.

Chip timed, with a live video stream and online tracking, finish line pictures and video, well marked course with support stations at every mile. The four loop 3.27 mile course for half marathoners, 2 loop 3.1 mile course for 10K runners, and one loop 3.1 mile course for the 5K runners is fan friendly, tree lined, beautiful, fun, and challenging. This event honors the memory of Helene Cody, who passed away from a brain aneurysm on her 16th birthday in 2008. Helene had planned to revive the Cranbury Day 5K that had been previously discontinued as a way to combine her love of distance running and community service. Her classmate hosted the first Helene Cody Cranbury 5K after her passing in 2008, and ever since, the Helene Cody Foundation has used the race to bring the community together and fund youth service projects and scholarships.

T-shirts are guaranteed to those who register by August 6th! T-shirts will be given to registrants while supplies last for those who register after August 6th.

Packet pickup nights are held on Wednesday, September 3rd at Fleet Feet Princeton from 5-7 PM and Thursday, September 4th at the Cranbury branch of Princeton Soup and Sandwich Company from 4-6 PM. Those who have preregistered may pick up their T-shirt and race bib at this event to avoid the lines on race day.

Race day packet pickup is from 7:30-8:00 AM for the 1 Mile, and from 7:30-8:30 AM for the 5K at Heritage Park.

All proceeds go to the Helene Cody Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity with the mission of inspiring youth to volunteer, to better their communities and themselves. Your donations will support youth-led projects benefiting Central NJ.

RUN FOR DAD is the American Cancer Society’s premier community event to raise funds and build awareness about prostate cancer. Now in its 22nd year, RUN FOR DAD, is changing it's date! Usually taking place every Father’s Day, we have decided to move to September which is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Join us on September 26, 2026 as this event honors the memory of Frank Simms, event co-founder and all those who lost their battle with prostate cancer.

Over 1,000 people attend this family fun event which consists of a 5K Run and 2-mile walk. Small children are invited to take part in the Kids Run For Dad, a series of small races where they are all winners.

In 2023, approximately 228,800 men in the US were diagnosed with prostate cancer and over 27,500 died from the disease. About one man in seven will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. New Jersey has the third highest incidence per capita of prostate cancer in the US. Even worse, in African American men, the incidence is roughly 60% higher than those of white or Asian men. There is good news however. The 5-year survival rate for men whose prostate cancer is detected early is nearly 100% and 93% of men diagnosed with prostate cancer will live 10 years or more. Education, awareness and personal action are saving lives and finding a cure.
