Join us on March 22, 2026 for our Winter’s End 4.5 Mile Run and say goodbye to winter as we kick off the spring running season together!

Registration

  • Pre-entry fee: WVS members $20, non-members $25

Price increases 3/1/26: WVS members $25, non-members $30

  • WVS members were emailed the discount code in the November and February newsletters.

(Our race discount codes are for current members of the WVS and should not be shared.)

  • Non-members can purchase for $12 a membership in the store and then receive an email reply with the race discount code to use during race registration.

  • Runners must pre-register online. Race day entries will not be accepted.

  • Online registration will close Friday, March 20, 2026 at noon.

  • Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Race Day

  • Pre-entry packet pick-up will begin at 9:30 am at Penn State Wilkes-Barre in the Commons on campus.

  • The first 200 participants will receive a commemorative gaiter.

Start

  • Race start is at 11:00 am.

  • Race will be chip timed.

Course

  • Our race features a scenic rolling hills 4.5 mile course in the Lehman area near Penn State, Wilkes-Barre.

Note

  • If the race is cancelled due to any directives by the hosted facility, or the WVS, 2026 pre-entries will be deferred to next year. No refunds will be given.

  • This race is open to anyone. You do not need to be a WVS member to run. You can however become a member or renew your membership during the checkout process. Online memberships are $12 per year. Membership cards are sent within a week of receipt or given race day if received 14 days prior to event or not yet expired.

  • Non-members can purchase for $12 a membership in the store and then receive an email reply with the race discount code to use during race registration.

  • The race directors reserve the right to accept or reject any entry.

    Start:

    • 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run start is 9:00am

    Course:

    • The 5K leaves out of St. Jude School parking lot, goes left on to Church Rd for 1.5 miles and returns to the school.

    • The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk leaves out of St. Jude School parking lot, goes left on to Church Rd for .5 miles and returns to the school.

    Awards:

    Awards will be given to the top male and top female overall, as well as the top male and female in each age group.

    Kids Fun Zone:

    • We will have a Kids' Fun Fest in the lower parking lot. Children 10 years and under are welcome to join us in the activities. We will have a blow up obstacle course, face painting, foam machines and some other surprises for the kids.

    Come join us for the Wyoming Valley Striders 34th Annual Spring Trail Run / 12th Annual Jen Stec Memorial contested over a challenging, primarily grass and earth trail in this age-group graded race on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at noon at Frances Slocum State Park in Wyoming.

    This race is also in memory of Jen Stec, who was a friend to all runners and first female in this race six times. She died in 2013 at age 38.

    Registration

    • Pre-entry fee: $10

    • Runners must pre-register online. Race day entries will not be accepted.

    • Online registration will close Friday, May 15 at noon.

    • Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable.

    Come run and walk with the Borough's Bravest Volunteers as we raise funds for the Burn Prevention Network's Camp Susquehanna!

    What is Camp Susquehanna?

    Camp Susquehanna is a program of the Burn Prevention Network that offers year-round online activities and a 4-day, sleep-away experience for youths ages 7-21 who have had a serious burn injury. It is an opportunity for children to have fun, learn life skills, meet other burn survivors, and process the trauma of their injury in a supportive environment. Although Camp Susquehanna’s campers are of varying ages, activities and groups are geared towards each camper’s developmental needs.

    5K will begin at the Old Forge High School's Veterans Memorial Stadium, move through mostly residential areas, and end a block away from the Famous Revello's Pizza. Walking route begins and ends with the 5k route!

    After the race; participants are encouraged to join us for a cut, meet our fire fighters, and cheer for our winners during the awards ceremony!

    Prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place male and female runners in 10 year categories. Additional prizes for the top two first responder finishers!

    Register by 5/18 to ensure you get your Race Day T-shirt!!

    Tee-shirts will be included in 5k registrations, and available for purchase with 1mi walk registrations.

    *Minimum of 50% registration Fees will be donated to Camp Susquehanna.
