Race Start Time and Location:

Our 18th Annual Rocco Laurie Memorial Staten Island Triathlon/Duathlon on 8/9/26 is one of our biggest events this season, last year bringing near 400 competitors! The race is popular not only because of an expertly designed closed course, but is also an event dedicated to honoring Rocco Laurie, a Vietnam veteran and NYPD officer, who lost his life while serving his fellow New Yorkers in 1972. Larry Ambrosino, chair of the Rocco Laurie Scholarship Fund, came up with the idea for a race in Staten Island to remember his Mariners Harbor roots and friend.

This is also a great race for those training for longer events later in the year, such as Jones Beach Ironman 70.3 on 9/26. The Staten Island Triathlon is a perfect race to condition yourself for an event like a Half Ironman.

Thanks to NYPD, this race has a completely closed off bike course on Father Capodanno Blvd. The water and current condition of Midland Beach has always been calmer than some of our other open water swims. Wet suits are optional. Lifeguards & NYPD Water Patrol will be on duty to ensure a safe and successful swim for all triathletes.

Here is what you can expect on race day: Race start is 7:30AM sharp at the transition area by the baseball field, at the west end of the Father Capodanno Blvd. Parking is at Lot 9, by the Lincoln Ave, not too far from the transition area. Triathletes will head to the beach for their swim start, .25 miles to the East of the Transition area. Duathletes will start their first run on the Franklin D Roosevelt boardwalk by the Comfort Station, in the Transition area.

At the end of the 400 meter swim, Triathletes will head back to the Transition through the open area near the smaller and shorter jetty. Duathletes will turn around turn around at 1.5 mile near the parking lot 5 and make their way back to the Transition. Both Triathletes and Duathletes will then begin the 12 mile bike portion of the race.

The bike segment is on Father Capodanno Blvd from the baseball field (hairpin turn) to Sand Lane, and back to the Transition area. Riding 3 loops (12 miles), 4 miles per loop. The course is flat and with no significant elevation gain.

The final segment of the race is a 3 mile run for both Triathletes and Duathletes. You will be running on the Franklin D Roosevelt Boardwalk. You will start from the Transition area outside of the baseball field and heading East. Turn around at 1.5 mile near the parking lot 5, and make your way back to the finish by the Transition area, running through the finish flags.

Forget the frantic pace of the race clock and the crowded corrals - The JURCs 2026 10K/10M 5-Borough Series is bringing a different kind of energy to the pavement. From April through September, we’re hosting 5 laid-back, community-first tours of NYC that’s more about the miles and the memories than the podium. Whether you’re looking to cruise through a scenic 10K or stretch your legs with a steady 10-Miler, or even a easy 5K walk/run, these runs are designed to let you soak in the local flavor of every borough at your own speed. No timing chips, no pressure, just great routes, better company, and a shared journey toward those running goals.

We are kicking off the season on Staten Island, the home of the Wu-Tang Clan, with the first of our runs. Please meet us at the parking lot by 7:30 AM; wheels up (and feet moving!) at 8:00 AM sharp.

Please note: this will not be a race, but instead a collaborative long run. To keep things low-key and focused on the miles, we will not be providing bibs or timing the run. We encourage everyone to track their own miles on Strava or Garmin.

    Race Start Time and Location:

Rockaway Beach, here we come! Is always exciting for us to host our first triathlon in 2026, the 7th Annual Cross Bay Triathlon/Duathlon on May 17, at the iconic Rockaway Beach in Queens! If you are new to our sport, this will be your first triathlon ever! If you have been taking swimming lessons in the Winter, this could be a great time to see how much you have learned and improved! With a gorgeous ocean view and smooth, concrete boardwalk, it makes for a great running and biking course. As this is an open water event in the Atlantic, the swim can sometimes be challenging with big waves, strong currents and cold water temperatures. Wet suits are allowed and highly encouraged since, seasonally, the water temperature is typically around high 50s to low 60s. Lifeguards & NYPD Water Patrol will be on duty to ensure a safe and successful swim for all triathletes.

Here is what you can expect on race day: Race start is 7:30AM sharp at the transition area by the B95th Street Rockaway Beach Amphitheater. Triathletes will head to the beach for their swim start by the B91st Street beach ramp. Duathletes will start their first run on the boardwalk at B95th Street, right in front of the Rockaway Beach Amphitheater.

At the end of the 400 meter swim, Triathletes will head back to the Transition through the B95th Street beach ramp. Duathletes will turn around at B125th Street, where the water and aid station will be, and make their way back to the Transition. Both Triathletes and Duathletes will begin the 12 mile bike portion of the race.

The bike segment is all on the boardwalk from B95th Street to B27th Street, and back to the Transition area. Riding 2 loops totaled of 12 miles, 6 miles per loop. The course is flat and smooth, but usually windy coming back up from B27th Street so be prepared for some tough riding!

The final segment of the race is a 3 mile run for both Triathletes and Duathletes. You will start from the Transition area at the B95th Street and turn around at B125th Street (near the end of the boardwalk), and making your way back to the finish by the Transition area, running through the finish flags.
