🌄 Celebrate Spring. Embrace the Adirondacks. 🌄

Each spring, the Doc Lopez Run for Health brings runners, walkers, and outdoor enthusiasts together for a refreshing start to the season, all while supporting population health with Elizabethtown Community Hospital.

This beloved community event offers something for everyone:

🏔️ Half Marathon: A stunning 13.1‑mile point‑to‑point course honoring Dr. Robert “Doc” Lopez: veterinarian, accomplished runner, and Adirondack legend. The race begins in Keene Valley and follows the scenic NY Route 9N corridor straight into Elizabethtown.

🌲 5K Trail Race: A fun, family‑friendly route inviting participants of all ages and abilities to run, jog, walk, or even skip along a beautiful Adirondack trail. New route this year!

Running club and family discounts are available during registration!

Thanks to our generous event sponsors, registration stays affordable and more of the proceeds go directly toward supporting patients and families in our community. It’s a true celebration of health, nature, and togetherness.

Common Ground Center is thrilled to present our first ever 5k run/walk race!

Sign up to benefit the community and run towards a common goal—proceeds from this event will go towards supporting CGC’s adventure camp program, summer camps, and other initiatives aimed at ensuring that all children and families have the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive.

Our 5k will be held at Common Ground Center in Starksboro, and will weave through the property’s trails, fields, and between camp cabins. While the 5k will be moderately challenging and officially timed, our family-friendly 1k will be fun for all ages and abilities. Regardless of ability, background, or any other factor, we all run on Common Ground.

Come and see what CGC is all about, and take part in this local race that is sure to become a favorite. We look forward to connecting with more of our Vermont community, and to making out-of-state (or even out of country!) connections as well.

More information to come. Get ready to experience a little bit of camp magic!

The GMAA has held a variation of the Red Rocks 5k since the early 1990s to raise money for the GMAA scholarship fund. Each year the GMAA awards scholarships to college-bound runners based on their contributions to the sport of running and their academic achievement. In recent years the GMAA has awarded 2 or 3 $1,000 scholarships to students who have achieved academic excellence and contributed to the sport of running.
