    The Great Brant Lake Canoe Race

    Sponsored by the town of Horicon

    Experience a beautiful Adirondack lake in a fun and exciting 6 mile race that takes paddlers down the length of Brant’s picturesque shores and into a channel, finishing on the Mill Pond at the Horicon Community Center.

    10:00 am, August 8th, 2026 at Hoyt's Beach on Palisades road at the north end of Brant Lake in Horicon, NY.

    Registration

    Paddlers are highly encouraged to preregister online.

    Only 1 registration needed per team (Tandem Canoe/Kayak/C3/C4)

    There will be a packet pick up Friday 8/7 at Food Truck Friday from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Paddlers can also pick up materials the morning of from 7:15 to 8:00 AM at the Horicon Community Center.

    Parking

    Due to limited parking at the start, paddlers are encouraged to park at the finish and find a shuttle to the start. Please park in designated areas.There will be some parking at the start of the race.

    If parking a car at the start of the race. Please park on the side of Rt. 8 across the road from the Hilton Family Farmstand. This allows for more room and turnaround space at the start/drop off area. Please be considerate of other vehicles and paddlers.

    Boats can be dropped off at the starting line before parking.

    The race will start rain or shine. Be prepared for Adirondack weather!

    Paddlers are responsible for their own transportation before and after race. Camp Read will be running a shuttle to the start until 9:00 am.

    Pre-Race paddlers meeting will be held at 9:00 am at the start. Coast Guard approved flotation devices are required for all participants. Drugs and alcohol prohibited.

    Proceeds benefit the Bob and Gert Newton Campership Fund, The Northern Forest Canoe Trail.

    Celebrate the legacy of bicycling left by our own Glens Falls native, Harry Elkes, 1900s world-class bicycle racer. Meet at The Hub. Choose from 4 rides to fit your level of ability and enjoyment. Ride with other bicyclists along scenic North Country roads and lakes.

    Check in at the registration table. Sign your release form, take a copy of the map/cue sheet for the ride of your choice, and pick up your free t-shirt (First 100 riders).

    Choose your ride: 50-mile, 32-mile, 15-mile road ride or the exciting 18-mile gravel ride. Click on ride mileage to download route maps and cue cards.

    Start time: (with support riders) 9:00am.

    After the ride: Food & beverages available for purchase at The Hub; relax, meet other cyclists; watch a video of 1900s bicycle racing, featuring world-class racer Harry Elkes.
