Neighborhood Food Pantries (NFP) Shopping Cart Shuffle

This early season event is the perfect opportunity for youth and adult athletes to start the multisport season with a fun, low-cost swim / run event.

Distances

Junior (age 6 -10) 100 meter swim; 1 kilometer run

Senior (age 11 – 17) 200 meter swim; 2 kilometer run (1.24 miles)

Adult (18 and over) 300 meter swim; 2 mile run

Age Determination

Age is determined by the age of your athlete on race day. If you are 15 years old on race day, you will race in the 15 year old age group.

Swim Detail

The Junior swim will be done in a “snake” fashion with each swimmer swimming one length in each lane (a total of 2 lengths in a 50 meter pool). There will be lifeguards on duty as well as volunteers to make sure each swimmer completes the course in a safe manner. Please ensure that your athlete is able to swim so that they have a good experience at the event. Swimmers will be starting the course one at a time at 10-second intervals. Swimmers will be allowed to pass another swimmer. The Senior racers will also snake swim and will do a total of 4 lengths in a 50 meter pool. Adult racers will snake swim a total of 6 lengths in the 50 meter pool.

Transition Detail

Athletes will be able to change into their socks, shoes, etc. in the contained grassy area outside of the pool entrance. Junior and senior competitors should feel free to place their belongings in one of the spots provided upon arriving. Adults can place their belongings in the transition area after the junior and senior events are complete.

Run Detail

Volunteers and an aid station with water will be available on the course.

Join us for the 13th annual Fight Hunger 5K I 10K I 1-Mile run/walk, taking place at Cantigny Park in Wheaton on May 2, 2026. Expect a morning filled with delicious food, fitness, fun, and entertainment for the whole family. This memorable event unites nearly 1,700 individuals, spanning all ages and backgrounds, in a shared mission to support our Northern Illinois neighbors and cultivate vibrant, flourishing communities.

The Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals 5K/10K & Kids 1/2 Mile is hosted by the Cosley Foundation to support Cosley Zoo's exhibit development projects, public programs and conservation projects.

5K Race Registration: $35 early-bird pricing through 4/29, $40 beginning 4/30 through 6/5, and $45 on race day (6/6)

10K Race Registration: $40 early-bird pricing through 4/29, $45 beginning 4/30 through 6/5 and $50 on race day (6/6)

Kids 1/2 Mile Race Registration: $20 (ages 4-10) through 6/5, $25 on race day (6/6)

If you register for the 10K, you can opt to switch your registration to the 5K by emailing jackerman@wheatonparks.org. No refunds will be issued to switch from the 10K to the 5K. If you register for the 5K and opt to switch your registration to a 10K, you will be charged an additional $5 fee.

Please note that if you sign up for the virtual race, you are opting not to participate in person on June 6.

• Sub 7:00min/mi Corral: If you anticipate running a pace of 7:00min/mi or less, there will be a designated corral to ensure the race begins safely. Runners who begin in this corral will have a yellow bib. Only runners with yellow bibs will be able to start in this area.

• VOLUNTEER INCENTIVE: Volunteer with us! All volunteers will get a t-shirt, breakfast, and a Cream of Wheaton drink voucher.
