The Penfield Education Foundation (PEF) is excited to be hosting the sixth (6th) annual PEF 5K with the support of our Premier Sponsor, Family First Credit Union. This race/walk will start and end at the Penfield High School track on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 9am. This community 5K race/walk is intended to provide a morning of healthy exercise while supporting the Penfield Education Foundation (PEF).

• Register by April 3rd to receive a short sleeved technical t-shirt.

• UPDATED Packet pick-up will take place from 9am - 11am on Saturday, April 18th at Family First at 2520 Browncroft Blvd.

FREE Children’s races will follow the running of the 5K

Children 12 and under are welcome to meet us on the track after the 5k! We'll set the clock for 5 minutes, and the kids can run/walk as many laps as they can in those five minutes.

The primary goal of PEF is to raise funds to provide grants for school programs that are not supported through the District’s own budget and to support the awarding of scholarships to further the education of Penfield Central School District students. The PEF 5K is the main fundraiser to support these grants and scholarships.

Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Running Programs are offered for this 7-week series. All aspects of running and training covered. Runners should come prepared to run, rain or shine. Participants are encouraged to sign up online. At least two weeks of walking and/or running is recommended prior to attending - so get going NOW! Signup today.

• Meet at Nazareth University track the Thursday the first week (for 2026 only) and each Wednesday after that

• Clinics begin at 6:00 pm for didactic sessions.

• Warm-up and track workout begins by 6:30 pm

SUPPORTING HOSPICE CARE FOR THE LONG RUN!

Now in its twenty-fourth year, the Sunset House 5K Run and Fitness Walk has traditionally had something for everyone: a fast, challenging, 3.1 mile

course, plenty of food, refreshments and prizes—all within a fun and friendly family atmosphere. This year the event will be held LIVE on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the Irondequoit United Church of Christ located at 644 Titus Avenue, Irondequoit, NY. For those of you who are unable to join us on race day, a VIRTUAL option is planned from Friday, May 1st, through Saturday, May 23, 2026.

All proceeds from the race go to Sunset House which provides alternative living arrangements for residents who are unable to receive hospice care services in their own homes. Focusing on quality of life rather than quantity of time, Sunset House supports the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of its residents, allowing them to maintain control during an important time of transition. As one of our community’s most popular and seasoned fundraising event of the year we need your help in meeting our fundraising goal of $35,000 to ensure that Sunset House Hospice continues to provide the dying and their loved ones with support, comfort, and care in a safe, peaceful and loving environment that allows death with dignity and grace. So whether you’re a runner, walker—or somewhere in between— please join us for the LIVE Race or participate VIRTUALLY -- and put your best foot forward for a great organization. VIRTUAL RACE

Start Time: Friday, May 1, to Saturday, May 23rd, sports enthusiasts are invited to participate by taking a walk around the block or completing a 5K on the streets, trails or treadmill ANYWHERE.

Mind-The-Ducks 12-Hour is an ultramarathon run on a circular course for 12 continuous hours. The goal is simple--run as many laps/miles as you can in 12 hours.

The scoring is also simple. One lap is 1.01203 long. One lap counts for 1.01203 miles, two laps - 2.02406 miles, ten laps - 10.1203 miles, and so on. Whoever completes most laps/miles is the winner of the race. Only full laps count. No partial laps.
