1.25 Miles 5k Fun Run Run Walk

Now in its 5th year, our annual Recovery Awareness Walk will be continuing our 5k Walk/Fun Run options! This event is spearheaded by the Shawano Menominee Resiliency Coalition to help bring awareness and support to those living in and working towards RECOVERY from addiction and mental health struggles in our local communities!

In the first two years, the Recovery Celebration & Awareness Walk was able to help raise funds to open the Shawano Recovery Center and the Greater Shawano area's first Women's Recovery Residence! In the third year, funds were utilized to open a new recovery center, Rise Wellness, which is in the development phases of hiring an executive director and offering additional activities and programming to our local communities.

This year, funds raised at our event will continue to expand and sustain recovery resources in our local area.

Details of Recovery Celebration Activities include:

8 :30am-10am: Registration & T-Shirt Pick-up starts (Pre-Registration will also be an option Friday, 5/2)

8:30am -12:00pm: Recovery Resource Fair (local resources available to promote recovery)

10:00am - 10:30am: Welcome Ceremony, Guest Speakers & Moment of Silence

10:30am: Start of 5k Fun Run and 1.25 mile Recovery Awareness Walk through Downtown Shawano and returning to Franklin Park

Throughout the day - Celebrate Recovery! Enjoy family-friendly activities (, bounce house, children's games), Live Music, Resource Fair & Food Trucks!

Please note that the event will take place Rain or Shine, so refunds will not be available due to inclement weather.

    The Paramount Berner 5k Run/Walk AKA “The Berner” is a timed Run/Walk Event first established in 2024 for the purpose of building community around and maintaining accessibility to fitness & health in the Greater Green Bay Area.

    "The Berner" has been a passion project for PRC from the very beginning. A means by which to highlight our community of runners and walkers and share it with so many others. This running club was founded on the principles of community, friendship, and support centered around running. But since its inauguration in July of 2023, it's become so much more. It’s become a safe space for people from all walks of life to come together and support and push each other to be the best versions of themselves. So we wanted an opportunity to showcase that very thing. Hence, "The Berner" was born.

    Oh yea, why "Berner"? We're dog people, and a few of us actually have Bernese Mountain Dogs. For those who already know this breed, they are happy, stubborn, and downright goofy dogs. Kind of like we are at PRC - so it seemed like the perfect mascot for this race. And who doesn't like a good play on words with the word "Berner"? It implies fast, right? Ironically, these dogs aren't always so, and that's just how we like it. Come as you are - fast, slow, runner, or walker. We're just happy to build community with you!

    This year’s event is extra special; we’re partnering with Vickery Village’s May Day Celebration! Stick around after our event, because May Day begins right at 10 AM with tons to explore: a hand-selected group of Makers at the Makers Market, Suamico Bike’s Used Bike Sale, helmet fittings, and more fun throughout the village. So stay awhile with us and enjoy a pint or two at Station 1 afterwards.

    All proceeds will directly benefit Paramount Run Club in supporting local runners through assistance with race fees, race apparel, youth scholarships, and additional events that support the local running community keeping running accessible to all those in our area.

    Join us for the Sturgeon Shuffle 2026! Presented by First State Bank, the Sturgeon Shuffle is a family-friendly 5K walk/run and a 10K competitive road run open to all levels of athletes. Named after the spring “sturgeon run”(spawning season), both events kick off from New London Middle School and are fully chip-timed (start and finish), taking participants on an out-and-back course on County Highway X along New London’s beautiful Wolf River.

    Proceeds raised from the Shuffle will benefit backpack programs in our community and region including: Project Backpack New London, Project Backpack Waupaca (serving Waupaca, Manawa, Weyauwega-Fremont, Iola-Scandinavia, and Amherst school districts), and the Compassionate Connections Center Nutrition Mission in Clintonville. These organizations are working hard to stamp out hunger in our schools.

    Join us in your journey to good health and know that your steps are helping to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities too!

    Dogs (on a leash) are now permitted to join runners & walkers on the Sturgeon Shuffle course this year!

    There will be a "TEAM Competition" for which additional awards will be offered to the Top Team (Overall time/place for the top 3 participants)!
