Join the Fun at Staunton’s Largest 5K Race!

Experience the excitement of the Firecracker 5K, Staunton’s biggest and most competitive 5K event! Our gently rolling course winds through beautiful Gypsy Hill Park, drawing enthusiastic runners and crowd support-especially as the city gears up for the Happy Birthday America parade following the race.

All participants receive a commemorative race shirt (while supplies last), and top finishers will earn awards for overall placement and age group categories.

All proceeds from the race benefit the Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope Program, supporting local families on their journey to stability and self-sufficiency.

Registration:

Register by 5/27: $25 (guaranteed unisex t-shirt option)

5/28-7/3, 11pm: $30 (t-shirt while supplies last)

7/4: $35 (register ONLINE ONLY up until 7am race day)

Packet pick-up: Early Packet Pick Up will take place at Sole Focus Running Shop, 210 N Central Ave, Staunton VA on Thursday, July 3, NOON-6pm. Race Day packet pick-up, 6:30-7:15am at Gypsy Hill Park.

Awards:

Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers, and to the top winner in each age group: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-36, 37-45, 46-55, 56-65, 66-75, 76 & over.

    The Run the Runway 5K is a family-friendly event beginning with a 1K Fun Run for children ages 3-12 at 2pm and a 5K on the taxiway and runway beginning at 2:30pm. This professionally chip-timed event will offer a unique race opportunity on a real airport runway and is a perfect fit for runners, walkers and families at all fitness levels. The course is flat and completely paved making it stroller and wheelchair friendly. Please leave pets at home for this event; animals will not be allowed to participate.

    All proceeds will benefit the Explore More Discovery Museum's aviation exhibit where children learn about the many aspects of aviation including hands-on experience as a pilot, aircraft mechanic, air traffic controller and passenger.     Rally your friends and embark on the adrenaline-pumping journey of running a 5K while dodging zombies throughout Camp Shenandoah!

    This thrilling course will take you through Camp Shenandoah, weaving through hills and woods along Little North Mountain out in Swoope, VA. Explore our trails while evading hungry zombies.

    Each participant will be equipped with a belt holding three flags, symbolizing your lives. Your mission is to safeguard these lives from the pursuing zombies eager to snatch them away. Successfully cross the finish line with at least one flag intact, and you've "survived." Finish with no flags left, and you've been "infected."
