In the summer of 2012, twin brothers Niels and Olaf lined up for a local 10 km race in Amersfoort wearing old football shirts and no real preparation. They both finished around 43 minutes, and that afternoon planted a seed. Five years later, in June 2017, they founded the 033 Running Crew, named after Amersfoort's telephone area code as a deliberate expression of local pride. Today around 80 runners gather on Monday evenings at 19:00 and Wednesday evenings at 20:00, moving through one of the Netherlands' most characterful cities. The crew was built by two brothers who learned to run in public and then decided to share everything they discovered after that. No fees, no requirements, no ego. Just structured group runs where conversation is allowed, encouragement is expected, and nobody gets left behind.
