Founded in 2018 by Dion in Penang, Malaysia, Penang City Running Runners (PCRR) began as a small group seeking connection through running and has grown into a close-knit crew of about 30 members. Dion’s personal journey from overcoming unhealthy habits inspired a welcoming, no-fee community focused on inclusivity, mutual support, and personal growth. Co-led by Dion and Darric, PCRR meets weekly beside the Jazz Hotel in Tanjung Tokong for relaxed evening runs that accommodate all paces and encourage camaraderie. The crew embraces Penang’s diverse terrain—from coastal paths and historic neighborhoods to challenging climbs up Penang Hill—making every run an opportunity to explore the city’s vibrant culture and natural beauty. PCRR also participates in major local events like the Penang Bridge International Marathon, strengthening community bonds through shared challenges. This crew embodies the spirit of togetherness, inviting runners of all backgrounds to experience the joy and health benefits of running in Penang’s unique urban landscape.
